I wonder how many here will actually go out and buy one because of the post...

    Voted hot anyway. 🏼

Some lovely watches amongst them. I don't think many are in a position to go from not wanting one to doing so because of the post, but if you have been considering one of them, then it's an absolute bargain.

That's how it worked for me on my seamaster. I was after one and then get £1,100 off.

Had there been a Globemaster (near impossible to find) or a aqua terra small seconds I'd have bit at these discounts

Luxury watches are not for everyone but this level of discount is not common even with great haggling. (edited)

nearly 9k for a common or garden Omega. These used to be 5-6k a few years ago. Luxury watch manufacturers have price increases way beyond the norm. Pre-owned is probably better value ATM.

To be fair my personal preference is mostly for pre owned.

Call me tight but I like having all the depreciation gone and picking up second hand.

Managed to get a Seamaster while in Jersey for £1500 in 2018. Was almost half of what retail was at the time, back when they were £2800-£3200 aprox new. Far cry from the £5k now

It's right what you say. Personally I couldn't spend so much money on something that decreases in value as soon as I leave the shop.
With the exception of a car I can't think of any high value item I would purchase without considering it's worth after purchase, and even a car I would look for the the one with the smallest depreciation.
I like a nice looking watch but there are so many cheap ones now that look exactly the same as the very expensive ones, it makes no sense to spend many thousands. They all do more or less the same thing and equally as well.
Of course that's just my view and I realise others don't share it.

Bought my Seamaster in 2019 and its worth more now than what I paid for it, the prices have gone mad.

I've had mine around 2yrs and it's now selling for £1k more than I paid. Absolutely bonkers.

I wouldn't like to be the guy who bought this last week/month for 13k when it's now worth 5k less. Shows the profit margins. No way will these ever be worth more than you pay now. Whatever the employees say

If you are buying watches as investments then you are right. However for those who don't, then it's "worth" is relative.

All this "yeah my watch is now worth £xk more than it used to be" only matters if you intend to sell. It's also common that all prices go up. People generally pay more for new than old (ignoring the mad Rolex market) so the idea that the prices have gone up since you bought it is normal.

The majority of my watches have sentimental value worth far more what anyone would buy them for. Either the watches I wore at occasions, or holiday, those bought for me or by me for certain Achievements or occasions etc

This weird obsession with watches as investments has led to price increases and people scared to take stickers off and wear watches as they were meant to be.

I'd hope no one has paid list on a non limited edition omega, but I doubt many have got such discounts. (edited)

These are all womens Omegas right? Generally speaking, ladies watches dont hold their value or appreciate as much as mens watches. My guess is that because women have a greater range of jewellery to wear and collect, so watches aren't the go to jewellery item for them. Point is, I wouldnt be being a ladies Omega if you are treating it as an investment, buy it because you like it and will wear it.

Thanks OP, have wanted to get my wife a nice watch for some time. Have bitten on the 24mm De Ville.

My 20 year old Seamaster (£800)! still rock solid. I just hope they still make them like they used to! (edited)

A mate just got one. Had to wait 13 months and he had previous purchases too.

Much prefer the Globemaster myself but they are almost as hard to get and more expensive.
