I bought this last year as had a car that was still in warranty. I would not bother for a car out of warranty - as £372 is a lot of money for two oil changes!!
    Yuri_Cash's avatar
    Exactly!
  2. m00moo's avatar
If people change their own oil, filter etc then what do they do with the service stamps when they come to sell it and its saying last serviced in 2019?
    Easy.Action.Baby's avatar
I pay for an oil change at a local garage (who stamp the book) and then change all the other filters myself. I keep the receipts in a folder. I’ve sold several cars and nobody has ever questioned where it was done. Even We buy any car are only interested in when it was last done.

Find a local independent specialising in your vehicle.

Most of your money goes into funding their swanky showrooms and not your car, hence these are mainly checks only.
    royals's avatar
Makes me laugh, independents in Berkshire are similar price or more expensive than main dealers. I went to a main dealer to get the cam belt and water pump replaced on a Peugeot 307 xsi for £400, which was £200 cheaper than independents.

You should never assume main dealers are more expensive. (edited)

Just wondering if you have to specify the VW dealership at payment stage or can you take your car to any VW garage once you have paid for the service plan? Also, is it worth comparing what is included as part of the service plan with different dealerships e.g. toping up fluids, various filters, etc ? Has anyone had any experience of using this service plan? Any advice would be appreciated.

Any VW dealership in the network. You don't have to pick one and stick with it.

The service you receive should be standardised throughout the network.

At this discounted price there’s about a £50 premium over my local f1 auto centre, for the cost of a “minor” and “major” service (2.0 diesel). So a £25/year premium to pay monthly. Which I don’t think is too terrible, especially if - as I think someone else posted - the garage will collect and return. That’s less than the taxi fare where I live!
    JBHB's avatar
VW also advertise a price match to any quote within 5 miles of the retailer, unsure if this would be applicable to the P/M plan, but worth keeping in mind if paying outright if they look to be more expensive than your f1 auto care

Heat added as I like VW, but can anyone explain me why people pay £372 for 2 oil changes and are so excited about the price?
    Tom.Wilson's avatar

It's personal preference. Some favour main dealer servicing for the goodwill opportunities and field campaigns when out of warranty.

Describing them as solely oil changes is erroneous depending on the mileage of the vehicle and the relevant maintenance schedule at that time.

Not bad. Just be careful if paying on credit card. Often credit card companies will try and add an automated charge thinking it is a finance agreement rather than just a service plan.

Just go to an approved vw dealer and pay a £100
    Tomsky86's avatar
Show us an example where an approved VW dealer charges £100 for a service.

Also worth looking at the All In Plan for cars between 3-6 years old.
    S23's avatar
Is the all in plan on offer too? Or is that normal price?
  11. u664541's avatar
Took this out last time, same price.
Not normally a fan of dealer servicing but £15pm not exactly breaking the bank plus they picked the car up and delivered it back.

Service doesn't cover a lot really especially when called to ask if I wanted the brake fluid changed, air-con regas, air-con purify, some other stuff not covered by the service done, but they weren't pushy so no complaints.
    eire.og's avatar
Do they guarantee pick up? Don't see this anywhere
  12. cobra121's avatar
Good offer considering that it was VW Fixed Price Servicing would be £548 without any service plan for the two services. This includes a one major and one minor service at £372.00. Heat added and thanks for posting OP.
  13. Gadgetdeals's avatar
Great HEAT added and bought, thanks

I got this last year and have had the minor service done at local VW dealer of my choice. They would pick up and drop off but I just drop at garage opening and collect after couple hours so they don't rally my tuned golf R. Lol. The additional bits that need done every couple years like brake fluid service not included. Neither is haldex in the major service. The way I see it worth it is that I don't hugely miss £15 a month DD and keeps a full VW dealer service history updated. The techs are really knowledgeable in my local garage too and friendly which I like over others I've used.
    JBHB's avatar
I wonder if those items are retailer dependant - although it shouldn’t be. When I bought my GTI (PP) it went in for some work at a different retailer local to me (300mi from where I bought it) and they told me the Haldex unit and brake fluid were overdue as part of the servicing, when ringing the dealer about this they held their hands up and said it was overlooked and they’d pay for it as they both should be done as part of scheduled servicing… I’d have thought the same would be applicable nationwide? Maybe they just exclude these things on the service plan, therefore offering slightly different inclusions for monthly subscribers - who knows?
  15. spankwilder's avatar
Meh, most of the service is checks. My shout is to pay for what actually needs doing, fluids, filters etc - used cars most of the checks are performed at MOT
    royals's avatar
Most of the checks aren’t performed at the mot, the mot only doesn’t basic checks. At Audi they produce a video showing any issues. They’ll highlight all the things you need to change with a cost. Most of it I ignore unless I feel it’s needed like tyres and brakes

This year, I bought OEM VW parts, Castrol engine oil for £23, Mann filter for £7 and spent half an hour doing an oil service, I don't get how dealership can get away by charging almost 10 times the cost amount.
    S23's avatar
Where can I find a list and seller of OEM parts please?
  17. osrick's avatar
This was epic if you had a Phaeton in the old days.
  18. garryc1981's avatar
If I buy this today and pay monthly when can I book the first service?
    Tom.Wilson's avatar

The service plan will be activated 48 hours after purchasing online. You can have it serviced any time after that. (edited)
  19. GeoffAngela's avatar
Looks like there's a similar deal applied to Skoda servicing as well. But oddly not Seat as far as I can see. Just quoted 14.25 per month for two services on an Octavia PHEV.
    Tom.Wilson's avatar

SEAT should be going live sometime today - the whole group will benefit according to the press release.

Oddly only Audi is having a discount on the All-In plan... (edited)

No, that's the All In package you've seen.
  24. MAHER's avatar
Is this offer only valid for VW cars or can you apply it to an Audi car as well??
  25. Yusea's avatar
Rip off, no one know whether you engine oil really be replaced, or just a simple top up. Check your engine oil colour next time, if it is very black after the service, that might tell you something.
    ALW_'s avatar
I have started replacing my own oil on my Mercedes. At least I know its been done properly. Don't even need to lift the car, extract via the dip stick. Oil filter is in engine bay also easy to replace.

Just buy genuine parts to maintain warranty. Block exception allows you to DIY service and maintain warranty if genuine parts are used. Keep dealership parts receipts. Started videoing my DIY services to also prove its done as required.

How often do people schedule their services? I’ve had a minor and a major service within a year of each other on this plan. Does that sound right? I’m doing around 10k a year.
    sharaz90's avatar
I service my vw every 10k miles.
  27. cobra121's avatar
Is there a time limit between minor and major services as I only do about 1000 miles a year, or can I have my car service done at any time
    TonyCracker's avatar
Suggest you get it serviced every 10-12 months at least an oil change (edited)

Took out the no longer svailable VW  3 year service and maintenance plan when I bought my T Cross 3 years ago worked out at about £17.50 a month Was looking a so so  deal with lockdown reducing our milage for the first 18 months but hey ho the 3rd service delivered new front and rear pads, brake fluid change  and wiper blades. So All in all worked out  good value .

Got this deal last Year and recently booked it in for a service next month at the local VW Stealer.

They quoted an additional cost for collection/drop-off and the use of a courtesy car. Thought I'd been mis-quoted, but sure enough I went through the Webpage and it's a £25 charge for collection/drop-off and/or £25 for a loan car.

Just checked on another random VW dealer site and same charges apply. Only way to get it free is for you to drop off and collect, or wait around whilst they service it.
    royals's avatar
Why, do you expected it for free those days have long gone and covid lockdown killed every bit of hospitality. At my Audi just before lockdown you used to get tea served in a pot with tea cups, breakfast rolls or wraps, croissants, porridge, muffins, Proper coffee, fizzy drinks etc, free clean inside and out, etc. now you get proper coffee and tea served in paper cups and that’s it. Boo! (edited)

  31. Guess_What's avatar
This doesn’t include brake fluid change does it?
    Big_Steve's avatar
No that is a separate charge.
  32. royals's avatar
Same deal at audi, 25% off
  33. Paul_Hobbs07's avatar
Excludes ID range . They all ready want £338 to just look at it for a while and not change any oil or filters or spark plugs that it doesn’t have.
  34. JamesFallon's avatar
Good offer considering its VW and the service will be used very often in the year.
  35. willhay555's avatar
It seems that if you have an existing plan running you can't top up with another.
I have an Audi plan with one service outstanding. I can't seem to take advantage of another, with the current discount.
I assume this VW offer is the same.
