Noticed there was a deal on 'lifting equipment' and this jack is normally £130. It says it's reduced to £104

When I add to the cart it gets reduced again to £83.20!

Don't add the 'motoring10' code as that doesn't give you the £20.80 off, only gives you £10 off

Did local collection last night, also added some 2T jack stands which also had money off when added to the cart

So for the jack and two ratchet jack stands it came to £103 total. Bargain!!

There is also the aluminium version on offer for £160 (normal price £200)

This gets reduced to £128 - saving of £28

Would you be able to tell me how much does it weigh? The site is missing that information, unless I just can't see it. Maybe it's not a bad idea to get the aluminium one.

    Cheers OP,

Grabbed the magic axle stands for £32, after a further £8 off the already discounted price of £40

…couldn’t resist the aluminium jack as well, so went back and grabbed that too. Don’t see discounts like this that often these days… (edited)

    Mega!!

Can finally get under my car to have a battle with 3,000 plastic clips only to realise that I need to take off the complete undertray (that's stapled to arch liners) just to change my gearbox oil.

This should make my issue that little bit easier.

I got the magic axle stands for £27 by opening a new account which gave me a further £5 reward which comes off at the checkout.

I wonder if these are now worth getting as watched a YouTube video and it seemed a bit annoying that once they magically go up, they might end up in a non locked position, so you then have to jack up a bit more, raise the stands so they lock and then lower the jack.

With a traditional stand, you wouldn't have any of that? But 4t is quite beefy compared the usual 2t ones.

Says not available in any of our stores for collection or delivery.

Edit: I changed to my parents address and it says available now. I wonder why they say that when they are available with different postcodes. (edited)

Should be free delivery, mine was, came next day with DHL (edited)

Seems a good price but the Halfords jacks have a reputation for the seals going in them. I'd suggest looking at the Sealey Premier range.

Bargain. Combined with a 5% work discount and a £5 credit picked it up for £76!
  20. BarneyRubble's avatar
Anyone know if you can get repair kits for these like replacement seals etc?
    bensbb's avatar
Not directly from halfords as far as I can tell but it does come with a decent warranty

That being said there are a huge amount of jacks on the market that look VERY similar, probably coming from the same OEM factory in China, so you may be able to find generic parts that fit after you disassembled it to measure.

Ugh, I just paid £89 for this earlier in the week. Not the end of the world but typical...

Fantastic jack for the money, proper professional style. I also have a 2T low profile jack (orange one) and it's like a children's toy in comparison. It's useful to have both though as this is VERY heavy (35kg) so not really portable for boot of the car etc. (edited)

Haha I have the same 'baby' jack but 16 years old and the seals have gone. Upgrade time!!

I don't mind that this one is heavy, you know it's gun a be in the last place you left it

I bought this a while ago for 104 and its brilliant. Also got the heavy duty axle stands and they are way too high for my car cant get it High enough to even get em under it.
    bensbb's avatar
I used to have this problem with my previous jack as it only went to 36cm, an ice hockey puck (£5 on ebay) on top of the lift pad gave me just enough extra (edited)

Thanks OP, been looking for a low profile jack to replace my old Lidl special that has been going for 10+ years but does not have a very good lift height nor feels as study with the weight of a modern car!

I purchased this SGS jack back at the start of 2020 for around £80 quid. Really good jack, and it lives outside with no cover. Recently it will not hold when I'm pumping the jack sometimes sometimes, for example if I push down on the long rod, the rod wants to spring up and the jack also drops (like it's not holding). I need to push the rod completely to the floor sometimes to get it to hold, otherwise its fine.

Any ideas if this is repairable? This Halfords one does not seem too bad (although it's pretty much the same price to the one I bought)

Most jacks have a filler cap you top up/ pour oil in. Without oil a hydraulic jack piston won't lift. (I use engine oil)

If it won't lift after putting oil in then the seals might have gone. you need to contact SGS for a replacement kit.
Expensive floor jacks should really be kept inside. (edited)

Just to let people know, even though this says low profile it didn’t actually fit under the front main pad of my bmw sport. So take that “low profile” with a pinch of salt. My advice would be to look at SGS, it’s not as cheap as Halfords but you’ll appreciate it every time you want to jack your car on all four wheels rather than having to drive it on to bricks and then using this jack.
    Korg7's avatar
    Hi, do you own both?

I own the 2.5T low profile from SGS (purchased just before covid for £80) and it's just low enough for both of my cars (2 roadsters). Is the Halfords one much higher than the SGS, like a normal jack? Thanks for pointing this out, as it would be useless for my use.

Heat added, had mine for about 4yrs MEGA trolley jack and very quiet to move about also

Is this too big to be kept in the trunk
    Proveright's avatar
This a garage jack, although it would fit into a trunk, it is far too big and heavy nor practical to do so.
The advantage is this will lift the car much higher than usual jacks and with far fewer pumps.
