Wattbike atom.
£2k. Premium bike. Smart trainer. Connectivity with app. Comparable with zwift and rgt/systm
Kicker bike
Roughly the same product but 10% more.
Kicker core / Zwift Hub / Tax Neo
Back whell off turbo. Around £500
Again does exactly the same as the wattbike but obviously requires a bike to put on it.
Invest your remain 1500 into a first or second bike. This is the more popular option.
If it was me I'd go second hand, loads of hardly used examples about. I had one advertised locally (gen 2) for only £950 a month or so ago.
If anyone wants to try it just let me know
Haven’t regretted it one bit, got it for £1700 in November last year (£500 payment and 12 x £100 0%) and have put over 1,000 miles on it so far.
Started with Zwift subscription and used Rouvy for 30 days free then extra 30 days for £1, have since cancelled the Zwift and am solely working through the (free) Wattbike Hub plans.
Plenty rides to keep you occupied , training plans, climbs etc.
I’m not afraid to admit I’m a fairweather cyclist, I don’t do wet or cold outdoor rides, just don’t enjoy them.
Wattbike is ideal, looked at Peloton and Wahoo but WB seemed the best value for money.
Holds its re-sale price very well, unusual to see them advertised <£1500.
Far better than a smart trainer IMO, budget allowing of course. (edited)
I recently bought a brilliant second hand JTX Fitness bike on ebay. It was £80 and the local guy even brought it round on a trailer. 22kg Flywheel and to be honest. Unless you are worried about Wattages etc, the 22kgs flywheel is everything you need. They are about £700 new and I would recommend them at even that price.
The second hand bike I have is like commercial standard and if it breaks or needs a big service. I will put it in the skip and just buy another one.
I used to have a York Fitness or something from Argos that wasn't expensive, 4kg magnetic flywheel. Just put a clamp on it for a tablet and I used to love a 20 mins ride after work watching music videos. I could push it at full resistance but still enjoyed it
If you already have an exercise bike and want to go on Zwift or something. You can buy power meter pedals for about £400. Which is something I might do. You won't get the hill changing resistance of this bike. But again, you aren't spending £2000?
The idea of having a bike and a turbo trainer is really only possible in a garage. The size of whole set up alone would be too big for me. And I have a spare room I'd rather use for junk.
It has swift support (not sure how well it works).
But also has free classes and videos via its own app . Also has automatic tolerance levels
Currently £649 but during COVID times went down to £499 and £549 so keep an eye out on vouchers on Amazon.
