Remember, this Chinese version does not work UK banks apps and Google wallet.
Global or UK version should be fair to use in UK and EU

Not 100% sure about the wallet, but 100% sure that banking apps will work fine out of the box.

Banking apps only stop working when you unlock the bootloader. (This phone will come with official Chinese ROM and locked bootloader reading description. They seem to only be sideloading all the Google apps for you.)

But if you install the custom Xiaomi.eu ROM (after unlocking bootloader) then banking apps and wallet definitely all work fine (the custom ROM tricks apps into thinking bootloader is still locked). I think this is what most people end up doing if they get the Chinese version. (edited)

Gorgeous phones. However for £20 less ( £660) I've just ordered a global white ceramic mi ultra 11 with 12gb ram 512gb ROM and 67watt charger from Ali express.i know it's on deaths door for ota upgrades but I'm planning on throwing EU ROM( twerp) later on when it's too far out of date. Has the luxury of all UK bands in it from 2g through to 5g. Just gotta wait now!! (edited)

The global ROM is put on for you by the seller. Make sure you click global because many of the sellers have Chinese only ROM as well. This means they will open the packaging to install the global ROM which is why it takes longer for delivery as there is a delay whilst waiting for the global ROM to be put into the phone if it's a Chinese original. The EU ROM is something you can either do yourself with help from Reddit or googling. Alternatively you can pay someone to put EU ROM on your phone for you. EU ROM by all accounts is vastly superior and you get goodies like miui dialler which records all your phone calls. You also get vault app which is useful and most importantly you can keep updating the software much longer. The phone itself should come with a clear phone case to protect the back and sides as well as a film already installed onto the screen. Ultimately there's no escaping the fact that importing from China there is a small element of risk for obvious reasons. As mentioned earlier I've used Ali express for 7 years now for everything from cases to phones and never had a problem and never paid taxes. For more expensive purchases I always use someone with loads of feedback to negate the risk even though it might cost a little bit more.

@MrSwitch I can't decide between a xiaomi 13, Samsung s22 ultra or iPhone 13 pro. What's your opinion please? I took your advice a few years ago and went for mi 10 note lite ( which I still have) and is a great phone but now looking to upgrade from it.

S22 ultra for me personally, i feel the 13 is lacking, and I wouldn't ever consider an iPhone personally, that's not to say it's a decent phone

Anyway to change it to the global Rom? Without losing access to banking apps etc.

new.c.mi.com/glo…75. Should be straightforward as they are official.
Edit: though I should say, if you're happy with miui, get xiaomi.eu rom. (edited)

Wondering if anyone can help me make a decision. I have a redmi note 8 pro. Nothing wrong with it but had it a few years and fancy an upgrade. Just not sure what phone to get. I don't want to spend loads as I don't need super fancy specs but just want an improvement and a phone that will last me another few years. Any recommendations? I was considering redmi note 11 pro..
    Thanks!

Wife has just got a Galaxy A34 to replace her Redmi Note 8 Pro. There's no massive difference in the performance but the redmi of course stopped getting Android security patches in April 2021 and unless you flash a custom ROM then you are stuck on Android 10. She's happy with the A34 just as I am with the Xiaomi 12 lite 5g. It's just down to your personal preference. Good luck finding that next phone.

The lack of comms bands is the biggest issue, something I discovered when I bought a Mi 12 from similar seller. In terms of practical impact, you find there are locations you used to get good signal you will either get no signal or 3g instead of 4g.personally found it a real issue and wouldn't buy another one of these phones.

I would pay the £100 for Global version from them. I have got several phones from them. They are reliable. Chinese version is not worth the headache. More bloatware and likely 5G limitations.

Can anyone confirm if you get an UK plug with the phone or will you need to use an adapter?

I have an S22 ultra and it's great in every way...except photography of moving objects. I have a 1 year old and I don't think I have a single photo of her in focus. My pixel 6 was fine are there any other phones that can handle this scenario?

For us parents Pixel is the best option I think. Tried s21 ultra, Oppo find X5 pro. They both can't focus quickly with lower shutter speed. Can't beat Pixel really in this respect.
Can't say anything about Xiaomi as I never had them.

If money was no object which xiaomi would members go for, I'm swaying from 12 ultra or 12T pro

Can anyone explain if the global ROM phones will pass UK security for banking apps and Google pay?
Do they have Band 20 also?

    Cheers

Not sure about banking apps but they definitely don't have Band B20

Personally I'd only buy Global Version phones for use in the United Kingdom and ignore Global Rom as too limited (edited)
