Home printer

I'm a uni student and need to buy a new printer. What's a good everyday printer for scanning and printing (also from a mobile device)? It won't be for high volumes of documents etc, just general usage and postage labels etc.

My mother is a low volume user and up until recently she was paying out £70+ a year on HP cartridges as they'd get blocked from lack of use.

We switched her over to a cheap Epson XP-2205 and 50 pages per month instant ink for £2.50 (usually 3-6months free) and it works out a lot better for her.

Have to say we use Canon (we have 2, one a general printer and one an edible printer) The general one, a MG3200, has been going strong for at least 5 years.
I'm sure someone will now pop up and say they're rubbish and to avoid them, but that is my personal experience.

If you don't need colour then I'd suggest a Brother laser printer

This one has a scanner + wireless support (so can print from a mobile with the correct app), and (importantly) will accept cheap 3rd party compatible toner cartridges so your running costs will be very low (less than 2p/page): Brother DCP-1610W Mono Laser Printer (Wireless) | Next Day Delivery Available (cartridgepeople.com)
