Upcycling furniture. Which paint is best?

Going to give my dining table and chairs a new lease of life, but I'm not sure which paint I should use on something which gets a lot of wear. Any recommendations on a good quality wood paint would be appreciated, thanks

    Zinsser AllCoat is superb.

Decorating Centre Online will tint it to whatever colour you like too.

A lot of them use farrow and ball but it is not the cheap option.

Annie Sloan chalk paint is good - doesn't require any kind of primer, just paint straight onto the wood (edited)

Another vote for Annie Sloan here, but with the qualification that it does leave a very “Annie Sloan” type finish which is quite unique and won’t be to everyone’s tastes, so worth the op trying a tester tin first I think.

Benjamin Moore Colour Sample Eggshell (Tinted) Aura 0.24L.

Cheap way to get coloured paint or a small white in a eggshell.for small projects.

Also consider rocktop as a protective coat (edited)
