Would also agree with this. Spend a few quid more. This isn't worth your time

tin

Agree with most of the above, painted at least 3 coats on a load of trellis (ridiculously time consuming) and one winter later it's nearly all off any upward facing surface. Complete crap.

snapdragon

One generous coat was fine for my fences and it is £4 in WILKOS. If the wood has been previously treated with oil based treatment like creosote this product being water based will bead or run so maybe that’s why. Also shake the container or stir with something large as it’s like gel at the bottom.

kidrock123

One coat it ain't. More like 4 coats.

Not sure where the previous comment went, but I did actually see a BBC News item (albeit from the childrens' Newsround section) about glitter and plastics, whilst searching for an image of this. Which I was totally unaware of. I post with good intentions, always.

As suggested previously hire a floor sander. I've done sanded a lot of of our bungalow floors - 2 bedrooms, lounge and hall and finished it with wood oil. Superb results.

eraldo

Ignore them this will work just fine but may need more than one go over with it depending on how many layers are on the door. Just make sure you use a disposable plastic sheet to catch the mess and make clean up easy.

Synstrip is magical, but christ alive it burns if you get it on your skin! Smells disgusting too. So use with caution!

philipgregson58

Sounds too dangerous for the amateur, who doesn't read and apply precautions, especially in an enclose space.

agizzer

Synstryp is really good strong stuff as it’s mainly used for cars but will be fine on wood https://groveshop.co.uk/other-consumables/19945-starchem-synstryp-paint-stripper-5-litres-sps5.html?search_query=Synstrip&results=1

Gah! just bought that brush set at full price! and some other Harris stuff! boooo The "HARRIS TRADE FINE-TIP BRUSH SET 5 PIECES Was £9.59 Now £7.67" are quite nice actually. Painted really nicely, left no track marks and no bristles lost. Only wrote off one brush with glossing as forgot to clean it, the others are like new with a bit of white spirit.

If you're registered for trade emails and your online login uses the same email address then I don't know why it won't work. I can only suggest phoning them tomorrow to link your trade discount to your online account to give you future discounts.

fireman1

Yeah, I used capitals but it just says something along the lines 'this is a trade discount for trade Pro account users, please login' Only issue being that I am signed in. I wasn't sure if you had to manually register the email on the website to link them but couldn't see anywhere to do it.

Doug_

4% TCB tracked with this, though they used the discounted price without VAT.

Doug_

I get the trade emails and have the app. Both show this offer but just say in-store. I have an online account with the same email but it's possibly not linked to my trade registration. I tried the code from the pic this evening and it worked online for me. Did you type it correctly in capitals?

fireman1

Don't suppose you, or anyone else here knows why it won't accept a trade code on wickes. I have a trade account but it just says I have to be a trade member and log in to trade account (skeptical) confused.

ukhotdeals1

Words from the wise: You may have to dilute standard fence paint, I bought a virtually identical gun, it came with a funnel with a small hole, you were supposed to time how long it took for a measure to drain (I did it by eye after the first time - sloppy rather than thick, but not runny!) Don't forget to regularly grease the plunger! (it operated by a steel plug actuated by an electromagnet, if it gets hot, it expands and sticks, petroleum jelly acts as a lubricant) Finally, stating the blinking obvious.... Don't use in a breeze unless you want everything in the vicinity to turn the same colour! This includes plants, buildings, washing and next doors car!

Thank you, yes Lidl, always get them muddled up. Good points made. Quite looking forward to doing our garden panels slate grey. How sad am i.

Roger_Irrelevant

This or one that blows air at the same time like the £40 Guild one? Need people to wade in with their knowledge. :)

HappyShopper

Do you mean this LIDL one: https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/parkside-paint-sprayer-2499-lidl-3194840 I've been looking at paint sprayers recently and, at this price point, there aren't going to be any major differences. IMHO, the LIDL one is the one to go for as, for the same price, it's slightly more powerful @ 400W, has a slightly bigger tank volume @ 900ml and, more importantly, comes with a 3yr warranty.

Excellent price if you have a few days spare to put 4/5 coats on!!!!

Daws82

Be careful, sometimes has a tendency to bubble/blob when put over other brands paint.

Daws82

I would still rather go for Crown or Dulux, maybe more expensive but gets the job done in less coats so not really a good deal IMO

rimalpatel007

Is this good for painting over brilliant white from Deluxe?

w0nky

Yup, same experience here, fine if u are just freshening up a ceiling but not much good for covering darker shades. Still can't fault the price

Can this be used to paint an old fibreglass caravan? Not expecting a pro finish, just something that looks passable from 20ft away. Other people seem to use a roller on their vans (looks like mine was painted that way many years ago), i thought this might be quicker and give similar results. Will be getting it anyway to weatherproof swing set.

androidavis

Does anyone know when this goes on sale in Lidl store? In theory, if you have to thin the paint 50% do you need to double the application?
