Purdy monarch elite are very good, there are many other good less expensive brushes, such as arroworthy, and the prodec ice fusions, you can get a pack of 3 of those from toolstation for £17, almost half price of the purdys

Billen

I'm about to decorate next month and loads of brush recommendations suggest Purdy brushes...are they worth the extra cash?

Picked two up. Excellent weight and quality. They'll easily do a 5 litre size tub of paint and even biggest depending on shape of tub (y)

Getting value for money outa the washing-up liquid. I liked this comment, but I'm now concerned it might be prison lingo for something unsavoury 😳

the_bamfy

Drill not included, so does that mean the bucket is?

philw101

Great price! Be aware the paint does flake off near the end of the hex bit, which could potentially contiminate your paint. Good for the price though!

Great for milkshakes too

LEYLAND TRADE CONTRACT MATT EMULSION PAINT 2 x 10 litre for £28 £16.99 each Brilliant white and magnolia to choose from

This is a contract matt and a far cheaper one at that. The major housebuilders dont use Leyland , yes it's cheaper than crown Dulux but not as good a finish. Soft and chalky. It does cover fairly well but not to be used in bathroom kitchens it's fine for a tidy up if selling property etcTech guy video tip on Leyland trade website DONT use as a base coat for durable Matt use thined down durable Matt..it sticks far better.P and D 25 yr

morning all, im not a expert but someone that built an extension and wanted to research and paint myself. I personally found this stuff fantastic. I watered this down as a mist coat and then left and recoated a couple times with this stuff. I then went along and purchased dulux trade supermatt which was on offer at toolstation. Don't get me wrong you can feel the difference and in my view dulux is thicker in texture and does cover better but I found this method a good balance between price and quality I have a few friends in the trade and Leyland is from what I hear and see is the go to paint. Again I stress Im not expert but I simply researched between different types of emulsion etc just water it down and leave for 24 hours

I thought contract matt was just used as a base coat, for bare plaster - not as a final finish.

ahmisterbond

Completely agree. What I do is use this as a wash for bare plaster then the Johnstons paint you mentioned. Personally I like covorplus

unless you doing DIY there is no point in using this paint. It does not cover well compared to other Trade paint (jonhsons, Dulux) and by the time you have done the extra coats, the labour time is there which is more than the cost the material! I learnt the hard way on one job, where I thought I would save some money and use it to refresh an apartment that was already brilliant white. Took so many coats it was a joke. The only time I use this, is as a first coat on fresh plaster. Do yourself a favour and find a brewers that has the 7.5l tubs of Jonhsons Trade Vinyl matt, usually under £30. You'll thank me for it by the end of the job.
