Hi we don't allow bots or spam or multi ids to vote on deals and will investigate reports of possible vote abuse.

You can read more here: hotukdeals.com/FAQ
Our voting system, represented by the temperatures displayed on each of the deals, makes it possible to sort the offers that have been shared according to the voice of our community members; those users can vote positively when they consider that the offer is a hot deal or negatively if they do not. This helps to maintain absolute neutrality, the voice of the people who drive the site decides which threads sink and which sail.

Ah that would be good to hear but nope, they are bots and the bot is on github.

When there is a launch of a site wide deal such as 30% of Amazon (30% off what ever they feel like) can you pause the members that posted those deals from voting, for say 30 minutes?

This should really apply to any deal really. No poster of a deal should be allowed to vote up or down for at least 30 minutes.

Just an observation because a lot of people are unhappy about the current state of play and too be honest I agree.

It is a grab fest. It is users wanting to down vote to make their deals stand out so voting others down. Let me know if you can solve it.

Blocking votes for 30min on new deals is not something that we would consider at this time and it would work against the current vote system. You can read more here: hotukdeals.com/FAQ

Not possibly now, in the future or even ever I would imagine! See here for another much requested feature that is unlikely to be implemented.

one persons vote will not make a difference to the overall deal anyway

The problem is it does matter. A few cold votes at the time of posting means the chances of it going hot decreases.

In my view, the Cold vote should be removed. Far too many people vote Cold for reasons that have nothing to do with the deal - local deal, don't like the retailer, expensive product (watch deals, for example), free Kindle books, personal politics (making money from a Spectator magazine subscription), etc. This unfairly reduces the attractiveness of a deal because people do look at the heat number first before clicking on it. The HUKD community ends up being the loser thanks to this.

Compensate for this by raising the threshold for Hot, maybe to 150. Plus reduce the amount of heat anyone can give - right now, just 15 super users can push a deal past 100 which is hardly a broad community endorsement.

I would say far too many people also vote hot for similar reasons. The main one being the person who posted it. Some people could post anything. The voting system overall is not fit for purpose anymore
