A Quick Guide to the Philips Hue Range

• Hue Bulbs

  These LED bulbs are specifically designed for the Hue, and have wireless receivers integrated into their architecture. They are able to create 16 million different colours, which can be chosen via the Hue app, can synch up to music videos, TV and movies, have various mood settings to create the perfect ambience and settings can be saved for later use, saving time in the future. Designed to have a lifetime of around 15,000 hours, Hue bulbs can be purchased in packs of 3, with a Hue Bridge as part of the deal. Single bulbs can also be purchased on their own or in packs of two (which often work out cheaper if you need to buy a set).

• Specialist Hue Lamps and Bulbs

  When you’ve got the starter kit up and running, you can add other, more specialised lighting products to your collection. These include Ambience Wellness table lamps that are optimised to create relaxing environments, the Ambience Flushmount, which attaches to the ceiling and has the ability to create extra brightness for reading environments, and Wellner table lamps, a slightly more compact version of the Wellness lamp.

• Lightstrips

  These long strips of LED bulbs can be cut, twined, stuck, tied in almost any arrangement and are ideal for parties (or anyone who wants to experiment with the lighting in their home).

• The Hue Bridge

  The nerve centre of the Philips Hue system, the bridge conveys wireless commands from your smartphone to any bulb on your Hue network. It can handle up to 50 lights on a single network and automatically adds any newly installed lamps, making them available to the Hue App.

• Extra Controls

  The Hue range also includes other handy controls, such as motion sensors (so you can turn on lights simply by entering a room, or turn them off when you leave) and dimmers, as well as tap switches which can store your favourite settings and recall them at the tap of a button.
