This Printer has much Better quality parts and wont give you the hassle of this machine,
The Main Machine I recommend if your a total beginner and want a plug in and play experience?
The Flashforge Finder - £399.00 - Amazon
amazon.co.uk/Fla…der
I personally Own 5 of these machines, These are the best printer ever for Plug in and play experience,
With this it has Level assist to help you level the bed what takes 2 minutes to do,
Also you have a lot of support and great software to use, it is literally a plugin and play experience.
Hopefully This helps some of you guys, People Don't realize the options out there and allows a easier experience for a beginner , As i Know myself i started out on the Chinese 3d Printers The CTC ones and over time it was all just hassle and issues with these i never had any.
Have a lovely day!
I bought one last year, paid £130 including delivery, no tax. The printer is basic, but good enough - spending more only really gets you usability improvements, not performance (to a first approximation). Yes, there are a handful of things you should print to tweak the printer, and a mosfet for the heated bed is important if you even want to think of leaving it unattended.
3D printing is still 'early adopter' really, if you're not happy wiring in a mosfet, this isn't for you - you need to be spending £1000 on a prusa mk3 (or equivalent), and you may struggle with the modelling.
I spent £150 (with filament) on the basis that it would be a good learning experience. Another £20 in parts maybe, and 4 spools of filament later, I'm not even slightly tempted to upgrade to something else.

Or do they know if it's any good?
Thanks in advance 😊
original e3d V6 hotend only cost £50+ HOT! (edited)
It's still for early adopters and haven't hit mainstream yet. Sooner or later HP or someone will come out with a model for everyone who just wants to use it and isn't interested in tinkering.
Some things to be aware of:
- The Anet A8 isn't very good unless you print modifications for it. So factor a roll of filament into the price.
- Look at videos regarding the safety of the electronics re: MOSFET.
- It can be very good once tinkered with.
- It's not a plug+play device. You need to see this as a hobby, rather than a tool.
- Gearbest are cheap, and so are spare parts. This is good as their support is almost useless. If a part fails you are much better off buying one from ebay/amazon/aliexpress than expecting warranty. Most parts are a pence or pounds rather than £10.
There is nothing comparable for the price, but it's a trade-off of time. If you are time-poor you'll be better off with something more plug+play.
I bought my 3D printer as something to learn with my 2 boys. Great fun for that. (edited)
Is shipping not free?
Once you add it is saying £8.51 for shipping, even when shipping in the box is 0.00.
Grand Total £127.71 for me anyway. (edited)
If you click on another shipping and back onto free, it'll reset it to 0. If you set it to dollars and pay with a no markup card like Monzo, it works out to £117
Ok thanks will look.
But now I can think of one product that would be far cheaper made with one of these, and it would be handy for making suspension parts for a robot.
tbh I'd rather find someone with one, and maybe bung them a few quid just to make the bits I need.
I know there are bureau services for that now, but they are still a bit pricey for a few bits of custom plastic.
What product pray tell?
When I can afford one I'll be using it to make custom pieces for projects, a custom folding arcade, charging table, echo dot ceiling mounting system & a couple of other bits would be easier & greatly improved if I could make some custom additions.
I'm glad I bought this as I learn't a lot from the building process.
it's this thing, a vero wiring comb
it's about 2 inches long, made of nylon and it's around 25p to buy (!!!)
I could do with around 200 made to wire up a few prototype boards - an ideal thing for a 3D printer to churn out, it doesn't even have to be particularly precise.
Mine came from Gearbest and didn't have import duty tacked onto. So that's not always the case.
To Add to this list the current most popular machine from what I have followed is the CR 10 (making sure its is NOT the mini which looks similar is smaller and has issues)
Not necessarily if you are only printing in PLA. Just keep the filament dry (ziplok bags with silica in) and be patient waiting for the bed to heat. I run a fan heater for 30mins before I go in to the shed, but that's more for my comfort than the print!

( Decent printer - I have that as well as an A8 and an older reprap)
Ordered mine in September, no sign of it yet.
There are sooooo many printers with their share of quirks, etc.
My recommendation would be the Creality Ender-2. Easier to build than this. Cheap. Lots out there.
Small print size, so you'll have to weigh up whether that is a dealbreaker.
Only thing it lacks is a part cooling fan, but I think I'm right in saying that you can add one afterwards.
Dearer than that (£200 mark), there are loads. Hard to pick a winner. Best get onto the forums!
I got so confused, I spent more on the Creality CR-10. I've never been close to using the bed size, but it's working fine without any modifications. Hardly any building either. When I bought mine it was £311, but i think it's dipped below the £300 mark now. (edited)
I couldn't disagree with you more. I bought one last time they were on here. It arrived last Friday. I had it built and printing after about 5 hours. Never used one before, but my prints are turning out great. Plus having put it together I understand how it works - which you wouldn't get with a pre-built. So a build it yourself is probably the best way to get into it.
Not to mention that the cheapest alternative you gave is 3 times the price. I'd say go for this if you're interested and handy to see whether you like. I'm happy to have spent £100 on this, I'd not have a printer if £300 was thet starting price.
I don't see a way to cancel the Gearbest order though so I will just have to wait it out...
Update: as suggested by them, the package turned up a couple days ago and was the original one sent September 13th. Be patient - but if you’re nervous you won’t enjoy buying large things from China! Really well packaged, no damage, going to enjoy this adult “technic” set!
As with most things like this. You get what you pay for. Scanect is free (for non commercial uses and if you already have a kinect). It looks as good as most cheap laser scanners I have seen for a fraction of the cost. For high detail the skies the limit. They're generally very expensive. So unless you're wanting to duplicate very complex models it will be far cheaper (albeit more time consuming) to use something like Fusion 360 or Blender and a set of callipers with a healthy dose of patience to model the items you wish to print.
they are for sure not very easy to deal with tbh...
