sorted byBest place for cheap warranted DDR3 RAM is probably CeX. They almost always have it in stock and you’ll be sure it works (if you aren’t accidentally sold ECC).
I’m sure it has a 16x PCIe slot but it’s low-profile, I could be wrong. (edited)
Heat added!
You can put low profile GTX 1050 Ti in it. (edited)
Gigabyte 1050 3gb ~£115
120gb SSD ~£20
4G ram ~ £10
Then you have a PC that will play all modern gaming titles.
If you want to skimp a bit you can get a 750ti LP for about £50 on ebay.
I wouldn't trust that site. It uses 240 pin desktop DDR3 RAM and not 204 pin laptop RAM. (edited)
There are various Elite 8300 models:
MT (micro-tower)
SFF (this one, small form factor)
Ultra-thin (basically a headless laptop).
The ultra-thin takes SO-DIMMs (small order DIMM for laptops) and the other two take desktop DIMMs (240-pin DDR3).
1050 doesn't need supplemental power (so 75W max over PCIe bus) and the PSU is rated for 240W so you'll be fine even under max load.
This would be fine:

The top review is actually someone with a very similar machine (I assume from the 240W PSU). (edited)
Actually, thinking about it my last PC was a similar i5 (with a dedicated graphics card and 8GB RAM, mind you) but it coped at everything I flung at it. I'm the type of person who has 20 tabs open I'll edit my comment. (edited)
Dedicated graphics is useful for gamers and folks running multiple screens at very high Res.
Yes, if you do keep 20 tabs open you will need more than the 4GB RAM that this has. 8GB would be better. Shame they don't offer a RAM upgrade at extra cost. Shouldn't come to much money to add 4GB.
It has 4 DDR3 slots:

Also a PCIe 16x slot as I said above for GPUs but only low-profile spec, can still get a 1050 Ti in there in theory.
I usually search on crucial or other places to get specs and then find same stuff on ebay
mrmemory.co.uk/memory-ram-upgrades/hp-compaq/elite-business-pc/8300-ultra-slim-desktop
DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz 204-pin SODIMM
You can use higher speed memory (it is backwards compatible) so key is
Ddr3 204 pin sodimm
Though searching that on ebay is then coming up with laptop memory...
Sometimes I then find a memory code number and google the pc I want to install it in.... Let's have another look... (edited)
It's full-length DDR3 not SO-DIMM, you can see from the photo of the motherboard. Your link is the 'ultra slim', this is the 'SFF'.
4 of these cheap as chips:

It will run games but I wouldn't recommend it for that. Being SFF you can't fit big cards in and the PSU is proprietary. If you're going to game get a mini or midi tower machine which has full height slots and an ATX PSU. (edited)
I have a lot of dealings with these particular machines - it's all in the details! Anyway hopefully I saved you spending money on the wrong RAM.
7106 benchmark, has more poke than last week's viglen and that had some as well although this is a bit more expensive.
I have had several HP desktops over the years and have never had an issue.
But, do not get me started on their monitor warranty support!
Can you let me know which ram you bought ?
We had a bad batch of previous gen 8200 that would just die but the 8300 have been good, usb 3 driver can be a pain in win7
Crucial also says sodimm
Google says that is laptop memory. Maybe because it is a small form factor pc?
crucial.com/usa…top (edited)
Going back to ebay and searching uk only gives something like this
rover.ebay.com/rov…382
This is 2x2gb so would work if spare memory slots as someone suggested before. If not would need to get 2x4gb
I am very confused now
Nice spot!!!
My googling failed ha! Follow the webuy link as they are the right ones

Do you think the PSU would cope with those graphics cards? Interested to know, as I have one of these machines.
Doesn't fit as the motherboard is sideways on and the psu is in the way for a double width card. How do I know that?
Tonights project
It fits just, although a bit of the case will need to be chopped out to accommodate the DVI socket the rack mount had to be removed also
(edited)
Youtube says otherwise. Also online others have said they've installed their GTX 1050 Ti. (edited)
Ooops mine was a HP Prodesk, which I bought from a bailiffs auction for £60 with a monitor, much smaller than this. looks like I will need to mount the psu outside the case or buy a new case.
just benchmarked
(edited)
Great, thanks for that
Sounds like you got quite the bargain. The i5-6500 CPU is probably worth more than £60 on it's own. I wouldn't bother with a new case, just mount it outside, all these branded towers tend to have some proprietary bits in them so I don't think it's as easy as dropping it into another case without modification or expense.
