You are limited to using them to a specific retailer, they have expiry dates or if you have any leftover on it, you end up having to spend your own money to use the remainder on the card since they never do partial refunds.Cash is king. Would def prefer a £20 note to a £20 card!

I'd rather pay for my Miller and Carter meal with a 20% discounted gift card than straight cash with no discount but each to their own.

    HOT and thanks OP.

It would be 44% overall discount, based on your 30% example.
    £100 x 30% = £30
    100 - 30 = 70
    £70 x 20% = £14
    30 + 14 = 44

Not while there is plenty of sweat shop labour, and fools prepared to pay ridiculous prices just because of the hype.

Based on Nike gift card terms it should do nike.com/gb/…-eu

I checked the online checkout for Nike and states you can use up to 10 gift cards in one transaction e.g. so £250 of gift cards, also the gift cards don't have an expiry date as far as am aware

So I'm spending £100 at Nike next week. It will cost me £80 if I buy 4 x £25 gift cards, or £100 if I pay with £20 notes. Just explain again how your way is better? Obviously I wouldn't want to sit on them for 18 months, but hardly a scam.

I said it was a nice discount but that gift cards in general are a scam, and I gave my reasons why.So discount aside, if someone were to choose between a face value gift card of £20 and £20 in cash, I'd rather have the cash. Obviously. I upvoted but only on the basis of the discount. Gift cards in general I would never normally look twice at.

But surely the whole point of this offer is the discount, that's what this thread is all about!

People have posted in response to your post giving the fact that the discount will save them £xx.xx and you're effectively replying "yeah but if there was no discount then...". But there IS a discount so your point is pretty irrelevant!

A bit like posting on a thread with any discount or glitch "if it didn't have the discount/glitch on it then it wouldn't be a good offer". Erm yeah, but the discount/glitch is why it's a good offer and posted here!

Only applies to Nike, Buy A Gift, New Look, Restaurant Card(various as shown in card) , M&B (Various pubs, see mbplc.com/gif…ds/) and Tastecard

very good if you’re going to be going out for meals over the festive period, or even if you’re doing some shopping these will also double up with other discounts eg. Nike/new look student discount would be applied before using eg gift vouchers

    heat from me!

Thanks. The restaurant card is great, I have the Toby app, so it's basically double savings. As they often have kids eat for £1 promotion on during the holidays.

I'm so happy this op has used the right picture, now no 1st timer like me will get confused. In tesco I bought a new look gift voucher, paid £20 and thought £5 will be added automatically but I rang tesco who said you have to buy domination of £25 only not £5 to £100 etc.

Plus glad they added nike (edited)

    Percentages dont work like that.

    30% off 100 = 70

    20% off 70 = 14

70-14 = 56 so you would only get 44% off

I know it's close to 50 as a discount, but in monetary terms it'l be a big difference!

Seems to be a lot of confusion and speculation here. I'm certainly confused.

    1) Has anyone actually purchased this deal without a till overide? If so, please state which store.
    2) OP - did you see this deal live in-store? Or is the above picture a 'behind the scenes' promo being prepared for when this goes live?

There are some posts here that suggest that the promo goes live on 18th, but also other posts that state certain stores only.

How about we all do this : If you go to a store from 18th and attempt a purchase, please state here which store you tried and whether or not the deal worked.

    Thanks (edited)
