The New AMD 3rd Generation Ryzen CPU LineupThe new AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen CPUs have arrived boasting higher performance gains over its predecessor lineup. With higher speeds, more memory and wider bandwidth the new Ryzen CPUs look to improve on and upgrade the way you relax, work and play. The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor includes 6 CPU Cores with 12 threads and a base clock of 3.6GHz that can be boosted to 4.2GHz. The new CPU's are backwards compatible with older motherboards thanks to the same AM4 slot socket however with the newly released chipset of X570 motherboards you can maximize the power the Ryzen CPUs have to offer. Support for DDR4 Memory continues but with the new Ryzen CPUs comes the new PCIe 4.0 Version which has improved the speeds of which your PCIe components such as graphics cards and some storage solutions communicate with the motherboard. Blur the line between elite gaming performance and workstation-class content creation with the most advanced desktop processors in the world.

sorted byNow I just need a spicy deal on a cooler
now i only need ram and itx board (edited)
I’m still rocking my 1700. Hanging on for 4000 series to see if it’s compatible. If not by then 3700X will he sub £200.
Great deal!
I find the stock cooler works well if you have enough case fans (for 2600 anyway) (edited)
It's only 65W max, the included cooler has no trouble and is quiet.
low profile ram. Faster the better, but bargain the better. The best i can see is 3600mhz 16gb lpx corsair (ryzen optimised??) for GBP80 (edited)
I had the opposite experience. Encoding a video and the CPU shot up to 89c and sounded awful.
I went for the Arctic freezer eSports cooler.
Yes
That's a decent price for 3600mhz dual, you can get 3000mhz for around £58 but I would go for the 3600mhz personally (edited)
Never mind, hadn't checked my emails properly, I did get a code
What Ram are you looking at?
Is that 2x8gb sticks?
They're supposed to go all the way up to 95C.
Due to the chiplet design, the CPU cores themselves are isolated on a tiny 7nm die in the corner under the heat spreader, all the heat is concentrated.
As long as you're under 95C you have nothing to worry about. I've seen so many people wasting money getting overkill cooling for ryzen 3xxx and still panicking when they see what they think are "too high" temps.
Also looking at the 16 Gb Crucial ballistix sport LT 3200mhz (AES) ram, from what I remember its supposed to be good stuff. Still looking for a cpu cooler and a 1Tb NVMe drive as well, if anyone has any recommendations for reasonable money?
Anytime, glad you grabbed it at this price (edited)
NVMe here for £78 1TB: hotukdeals.com/dea…926
EDIT: sorry, no I didn't buy the ram either so its still there. Would rather pay a bit extra for brand new (edited)
Fair enough
I'm thinking of building my first system.
Many thanks. (edited)
Yes it would, MB £64.35 here: amazon.co.uk/gp/…new and the PSU will be overkill depending on what GPU you will be using ?
Blame me and I need to upgrade from the 2600 but I have managed to hang fire hoping for the 3700x to drop below £200, think I will be waiting a long time
The boost algorithms take temperature into account apparently.
And there is no harm running a CPU cooler. If we wanted to run a CPU at >90c all the time we'd of bought one of intels toasters!
You can get by on the stock cooler with the 3600, granted. But itll be a noisy, hot machine. £20 extra for a cooler and you can knock around 20c off the top end temps
Heat for the deal. This is stupid cheap.
Couldnt of been 24 months ago youd be getting a 2 core I3 for this money.
What cooler would you recommend for this?
Thanks
If I knew the answer I wouldn't have bought this CPU last Saturday for £170.
