To all those HUKD members that subscribe to the view "look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" and purchased an Amazon 4K Fire Stick a week or so ago after they were posted on here for £26.99 from Amazon.

I purchased two at £26.99 each back then so I just made a quick call to Amazon CS as I was intending buying another one as a Christmas present and mentioned they had been reduced now to £24.99 so wondered whether they'd refund the difference and they did!

I know it's only £4 and might not be worth the effort to some but this is HUKD and certainly for me a saving is a saving. Just thought I'd share as there must have been hundreds of people who purchased these devices only a week or so ago going by the heat it generated at that time!

Just a heads up in advance for anyone that might call, I was initially told the price was £49.99 so had to mention you needed to order via Alexa to get the price of £24.99, was put on hold for 30 seconds then agent came back and said the £4 would be credited back within 24 hours!

Hope this is helpful to some fellow HUKD members

No, it (like most laptops) has an HDMI-out meaning you can export the picture to a TV, but not import it from another source (like a firestick). BUT, you should be able to get android apps working either way (which means you probably don't need a firestick).

Install Android apps on your Chromebook - Chromebook Help (google.com)

Now, keep in mind that the chromebook is quite weak on power, so I'd expect you might run into some issues depending on what you wish to do.

No, with an Android TV, you don't need it but I went for a Philips TV, which isn't Android. End result: it doesn't have Disney+ which is the ONLY reason why I'm buying the 4k stick.

Possibly, 2 of the best selling points which are often missed with firesticks are Bluetooth and the fact it has an internet browser, namely silk.
During lockdown I bought one for my Mum so she could watch her local church service being streamed on the TV. It can't do what a tablet can do but for £14.99 for the lite one it's pretty impressive.

Firestick has quite a few apps that Android TV doesn't. One of my faves is IMDB tv. Completely free albeit with adverts but has some decent content.

The 4K max might actually be able to use the AV1 decoder now too since it looks like Netflix is using it out in the wild. Maybe they'll wait until BF to do discount it even though it was just £35 the other week.

The Smart TV functionality/UI on my < 3yr old Samsung is attrocious compared to the Fire Stick that is plugged into it. Should I be buying a new TV every 2 years or just a £30 Firestick

IIRC Smart TVs also can't be sideloaded with unsupported apps eg try putting Kodi on a Smart TV

    Yes due to two reasons:
