sorted byRegardless it’s a good move, could help a lot of people.
If you got anyone you care about there, contact them while you can. It won't be for long before total blackout I fear.
Best wishes to all whom are affected. 🇬🇧🇺🇦
In countries like Ukraine, data is still relatively expensive. Further, data coverage, even 3G, is patchy. Incoming calls are free.
Just called friends in Odessa on my mob Lebara as I get 100 free int mins a month got through no problem.
People in marketing are human too. A good deed is a good deed. Especially in this case.
I said it was good, maybe you missed that part.
Not sure about that. Radio 5 drive time just had a 20min chat to a family in Kiev on their mobile.
Good grief, are you always this bitter? Sometimes a good deed is simply that.
So what it is marketing? At least the telcos are doing their bits to help.
The fact is, they have still done it, when others haven't. Don't be so cynical all the time, it isn't healthy.
No criticism here. And you spoke cynically like someone well used to it.
Unconnected to this, I know, but, as an example, ASDA run a promotion every year called Tickled Pink in which they raise money for breast cancer. They have raised millions, and yet people still complain that they are doing it as a marketing ploy. These are people who, like me, have suffered with bc and, should, I think, at least give them the benefit of the doubt. Does it really matter why they are doing it? It is millions that the charity, that is benefitting these people wouldn't have got otherwise, and they STILL complain.
The sum raised by ASDA is currently in excess of £71 million and, yes, the supermarket probably does make money out of people shopping there because of it. So what?
It is the same as this. Sure Tesco is, probably, going to make money from it. That's kind of what supermarkets do to survive.
It is just a shame that cynicism is the kneejerk response to these campaigns.
Thank you
No, do ya think?!
Could just not do it at all? But then its likely people would be kicking off about that sort of inaction too
Yes you said it was ‘good’ however undermined the goodwill saying it was ‘marketing’ - its both good and marketing, more importantly it will help people who need the contact. Trust me and I’m a cynic when it comes to supermarkets !
Yes it is marketing, yes it will benefit all the businesses offering help but surely being positive instead of being nitpicky and cynical over a goodwill gesture is of benefit to the people who really need it.
No need to excoriate, I am not cynical all of the time at all. Seldom, at the most.
