I have the GT2e and think its a great watch. I wear it every day and sometimes through the night, and would say that battery life is about 10% a day, so lasts me around 8-10 days before charge. I get notifications for messages, whatsapp, Fb messenger and incoming calls. No issues with software/frozen screens etc and I think I have restarted once since Christmas. Does all the basic health and notification stuff I need.

Got one for £48 from amazon and returned. Was very slow to use and hung for a full second or two every time I looked at a text notification. Notifications also incredibly inconsistent unless you leave the Huawei health app running constantly with a missed notification style icon in the top left and lockscreen (edited)

I have the GT2e and use it as a standard watch with added bonus of being able to switch watch faces, check heartrate between gym reps, record sleep, run timers and get notifications from my phone from anywhere in the office/labs where I work whilst phone sits in my desk/locker, All this on a single charge every 13 days! Remember that this is not a smartwatch - smartwatches are generally two-way, e.g. you can make and answer calls, texts and whatsapps, and they allow you to run apps like Strava. But all this comes at the expense of cost and battery life. My Samsung Watch 46mm did 1.5days before running flat! Horses for courses I guess . Oh, and so much more comfortable than the Samsung. I know exactly where splits are and it was way off, maybe I got a duff one.

I do including trial and never had any issues 🤷

I have tested this watch, the Xiaomi pace and the. Garmin FR. 245 on the same routes. The gps fir running I s far more accurate in the garmin and the Xiaomi. Also the ability to export run data as a gpx or strava is non existent. At the time of writing this the health app only exports to runtastic, and kamoot. Other workarounds using third part apps are very unreliable and miss his data. If you put the work into your run you don’t want to lose that data.

Just my two cents. I picked up one on the same deal as you and it's been flawless, no lag at all buddy, it's been amazing. Getting solid 8 days battery life.much prefer this size to the 46mm, which felt too big for me.

Used this watch for GPS and hikes, music playback etc.

My only gripe is that the flick of the wrist to activate the screen can be a little temperamental, definitely not as slick as my little mi band 5, but it's a minor niggle for an amazing bit of kit. Love it.

Not can't answer phone calls. It's the 46mm version that can. And very useful, on occasion, it is too. Would recommend the 46mm version.

Mine was fine 90% of the time just specifically texts notications always hung and after a few days it started to get annoying, was quicker to just grab my phone out my pocket. Did you manage to get notifications to work consistently without having the steps notification on from the health app? Having a constant missed notification icon or not getting half my messages was the deal breaker for me (edited)

I briefly tried Huawei's Petal Maps for navigation and found its built-in Chinese doctrine quite amusing. When I tipped over the speed limit the nice lady was Very insistent that I slow down, many times on the same stretch of road. She couldn't comprehend how I could not toe-the-line. I quite expected to get arrested when I got home for ignoring the multiple nags

Any recommended watches that have a bigger dial?

Maybe stating the obvious, but this deal is for the smaller 42mm watch only. I have and would recommend the 46mm version. (edited)

Sadly doesn't use the wear OS but Huawei's own which doesn't do apps of much use. No Shazam for example

That is exactly why I ruled Huawei out. I was looking for a basic smart watch that is accurate and has long battery life.

Went for the Garmin instinct. It's brilliant and connects to Strava seamlessly.
