Details

The MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier has been specially designed for your household needs. Four years ago, we asked thousands of customers what they liked and what they disliked about their Meaco dehumidifier, this feedback created the MeacoDry Arete One 25L: the quietest, most efficient combined dehumidifier and air purifier ever made.

Whisper Quiet – Our quietest large dehumidifier yet. In fact, at only 40dB, it is more than twice as quiet as the industry standard.

We know how important the noise level of a dehumidifier is to our customers and for that reason we have spent the last two years making Arete the quietest large dehumidifier on the market. At just 42dB(A) on the highest fan speed, this dehumidifier is extremely quiet.

Optimized for the British Climate – Programmed for your life and the British weather.

The performance of this dehumidifier has been developed around the British climate and the British user. Arete extracts water most efficiently between 10°C and 20°C, the temperatures at which you need it most. Standard dehumidifiers are created to work most efficiently at 27°C, way above the average temperature of a British household.

Removes Condensation – Efficiently prevents condensation and mould by capturing moisture in a 4.8 litre water tank.

Arete extracts water into an extra-large, 4.8 litre, tank ensuring you wake up to condensation free windows each morning. The easy-to-use tank has a cover and carry handle with the option to pour the water away from both the left and right side, making life simple.

Purer Than Ever – Our H13 HEPA filter removes 99.95% of particles from the air for year-round air purification.

Perfect for customers who suffer with allergies, the medical grade H13 HEPA filter cleans the air in your home, removing smells and VOCs. This feature can be used on its own in the summer months when dehumidification is not required.

Simples Controls – Smooth one-touch controls based on feedback from thousands of customers.

There are no complicated controls. Arete has been designed so it is easy to use for everyone. One press of a smart humidity button is all you need to set up your dehumidifier and walk away. Arete will do everything else for you: Arete will boost the fan speed if the humidity level rises and switch to a quieter mode when the target humidity has almost been reached. There is also a Child Lock to stop small fingers from interfering!

Low Running Costs – Efficiently removes moisture from the air at a lower cost than any other Meaco dehumidifier.

The low running costs makes Arete very energy efficient and affordable to run all the time, meaning your house will feel the maximum benefit of having a dehumidifier.

Dries Laundry – Dries your clothes faster, quieter, and more cheaply than any other Meaco dehumidifier.

Arete dries your laundry quickly and efficiently whilst monitoring its energy consumption, turning the compressor off when the relative humidity reaches 35%rh to save power. The powerful fan will continue to run to ensure your clothes are dry.

Sleek and Unobtrusive – Our unique side air intake lets the unit sit discreetly against the wall.

You asked for a dehumidifier that can be pushed against a wall to save space on their hallway or landing, Arete can do exactly that.

Extended Guarantee

This Dehumidifier & Air Purifier comes with an extended 5 year guarantee.

Bought this last year. The loudest dehumidifier I've ever had but does get the job done finally. If it's in a wide open space it's relatively quiet but in an enclosed space (mines in the hallway), some part of it's throbbing seems to be magnified.

Also, the HEPA filters are never in stock. Signed up to notifications and they never come. If anyone can recommend an alternative that would fit, that would be great. I can't find one.

This or the platinum range one?

This one! Has a longer 5 yr warranty and is using their new technology. The old platinum ones had issues rusting up inside

Only worth it for areas without ventilation. Really just better to open the window and put some heat on imo. I have both the 20L ABC and this one. Expensive lil things
    monkeymagik's avatar
The point of this is so you don’t put the heating on which saves money

Bought the 12L a few weeks back directly from Meaco and registered for the 5 year warranty. Works great in a 3 bedroom flat.

Great for drying clothes. Instead of two days for drying in the winter, it takes under 24 hrs when placed in the same room. It is not quiet but again noise is subjective. I've been able to lower the humidity in my place by 10-12%.
    MrChaunceyGardiner's avatar
Point a fan at the clothes at the same time and they'll dry in 6 hours or less.

I bought this last month from Argos for same price. Also states on box this model comes with 5yr warranty, part of the reason I went with this for my first dehumidifier. I absolutely love it, shocked with how much water it extracts & definitely helps with drying washing with 7 people in the house you can imagine the washing!!

If your house has a lot of condensation on the inside of the windows, a dehumidifier is going to make such a difference.

Due to drying clothes indoors over winter and generally keeping the windows closed more often than not, we used to get a lot of condensation on our windows. I've since got a desiccant dehumidifier which keeps the house at a good humidity, warms it a bit during winter and prevents black mould etc forming due to the air being overly humid. (edited)

    What model did you get?
  9. simba2585's avatar
Worth checking out Ecoair models also. I had a meaco then replaced it for an ecoair 20L compressor unit. These are great.

I love dehumidifiers but just realising how much the cost to run with the electricity price increases. This model if on 24hrs will cost £2 per day.

Have you tried setting it to higher humidity levels? E.g. getting down from 50% to 30% will take a lot more energy (if it's even able to) than going from 70% to 50%. I just keep mine in a small room for laundry at 50% and it doesn't run often but it's enough to dry my clothes overnight. (edited)

As a Geordie would say....this is Arete
  13. monkeymagik's avatar
Got mine 2 weeks ago.  Cheaper than running a tumble drier for the days when you can’t use a washing line and extracts a lot of water from the house in general. Makes the place feel naturally warmer and fresher smelling. (edited)

Got one only a few weeks ago direct from Meaco and is the best one I have had. Silent compared to other dehumidifiers I have had. So far it has extracted about 50 litres of water in the last two weeks.

Agree with the other post that stock for filters are hard to find but the filter should last a long time if looked after.

Cheers was after something cheaper but seems they’re all in high demand so went with this.

If its any conciliation we've got the 20L version and it's been terrific. We just stick it in a small room with washing on a clothes rack, turn it on and shut the door. 6 hours later it's off again automatically, and you can stick your washing away. In general we notice that it does add a little bit of heat over the course of a few hours to a room, so between that and a couple of candles on the living room is a decent temperature at night too which is a bonus. Is there much of a difference between say 12, 20, or 25L dehumidifiers other than you'll need to empty them out more regularly? I'm sure this is nicer than the 12L Meaco, but at an extra £100 I'm not sure if it's quite worth it?
    MrChaunceyGardiner's avatar
The bigger ones are obviously more powerful, have a larger tank, bigger air filter and can be fitted with a pump to automatically empty the tank.
  22. AB15's avatar
We are disappointed with the 12L one. We had a Delonghi which was brilliant. This is loud and doesn’t get the job done. Not sure about the bigger one.

I've got same one and it's been absolutely fine pal.
Really quiet and economic to run and dehumidifies all rooms really well
Got it for £89 quid a year or two ago.

Annoyingly there are third party filters for other models. But not the arete so far.

As they are always Oos and are pretty expensive too.

We have the 2x 20l version and they do a good job. Makes place feel warmer without heating and great for laundry
    iamqwerty123's avatar
That's because running a compressor produces heat.. So of course it's going to "feel warmer", because it is actually heating up the room
  24. Silent_wispa's avatar
Is there really a noticeable difference using one of these whilst drying laundry?
    Bob_Tomato's avatar
Oh gosh yes. It’s brilliant. We have two kids and loads of washing. Dries stuff much quicker.
Using it in a smaller space is better. We have two Meacos and another brand. These take out at least twice as much water.
Have also had delonghi and others over the years. This is imho the best brand.
  25. busterdan's avatar
I got one from JL in January and paid the same....

This thing is "Magic" it staggers me just how much moisture it takes out of the air and we don't have an especially humid environment. It's also great during winter when clothes are being aired still damp after spinning.

It's not cheap but it is very effective.

Why? I have a Ebac 4000 series but wanted Meaco
  28. novak100's avatar
I had one for over 2 years and its great I would say it is quiet(ish) but it does create this buzzing/maybe high pitch noise? Like refrigeration device is working really hard, sometimes you can hear simillar noise from power adapters.Wonder if anyone else have simillar issue.
