Thinking of getting this for mum to save money. How are these prices compared to standard radiators on a low setting? Electric heaters are generally inefficient, but as the heat is so localized maybe it's a good deal?
these blankets/ throws/ mattress topper cost around 4p / hour at maximum temperature (~120 - 150 watts) but usually around 1-2p / hour in normal use. (edited)
For the price of those, you're looking at double the time for ROI.
Easy workaround: the person who's slightly too warm (usually male) should poke a leg from out of the duvet.
But most importantly, these aren't things you should be running for long periods (safety). Imo, turn it on for a bit before bed and turn it on (smart plug) just before your wake up time.
If you're cold in the night you should have a 15 tog duvet/fluffy bed clothes
