I got the king size one last week from asda for £32.00, I find the material very harsh, not at all snuggly and only the centre heats up, the edges remain cold.

Are they not all like that though? I think they need a matress protector on top to make it feel nicer.

Thinking of getting this for mum to save money. How are these prices compared to standard radiators on a low setting? Electric heaters are generally inefficient, but as the heat is so localized maybe it's a good deal?

Octopus say gas central heating costs around a 50p to £1 / hour

these blankets/ throws/ mattress topper cost around 4p / hour at maximum temperature (~120 - 150 watts) but usually around 1-2p / hour in normal use. (edited)

The main negative for this and the double, is the single control. A lot of couples have different sleeping temperatures, hence the availability of dual control models.

In principle I agree, but a few things:
For the price of those, you're looking at double the time for ROI.

Easy workaround: the person who's slightly too warm (usually male) should poke a leg from out of the duvet.

But most importantly, these aren't things you should be running for long periods (safety). Imo, turn it on for a bit before bed and turn it on (smart plug) just before your wake up time.
If you're cold in the night you should have a 15 tog duvet/fluffy bed clothes

Been looking for a dual control king size one to keep the other half happy but not sweat my balls off. Anyone seen a good deal? (edited)

No, but you could get 2 cheap single size ones and have your own controls?

Ordered. Best price yet! Might go all out for a heated throw as well just noticed this one is 70w (2 year warranty)and the cheaper Slumberdown King in Wilko is 90w but 1 year warranty. Hopefully 70w will be decent enough. Thank you. (edited)
