Almost getting to the point where am5 is viable option.

How does this compare to a 5800x3d for 1080p gaming ?

It's basically the same or slightly faster. The advantage is the newer platform will still get compatible CPU upgrades in 3-4 years. The 5800 is awesome if you already had an old board but if you're building new then this makes more sense now. Even with a small premium due to the memory and board it only makes sense to go with the newer platform for a new build. You'll be able to drop in a way faster CPU in 5 years if you choose a good board and not regret the premium by then.

    Bargain brilliant price

Except the cost of suitable AM5 motherboards does make any upgrade rather expensive - which is probably why prices are falling so quickly.

Pretty much where it should have been priced day one. The fact AMD admitted they under shipped the past couple of months to support their overpriced products has not gone down well. Especially with those that think buying AMD because Intel is the devil somehow makes sense....

there is also the fact AMD have and are actively selling cpus with onboard graphics that are better than most of their actual gpus as whole systems and have been for over a decade, ps4/ps4pro/ps5/xbox one/xbox one s/xbox one x/xbox series s/xbox series x

how they still think intel is the devil when amd have these chips but still wont release them as seperate chips is kinda messed up, the amd equivelent gpu of a ps5 alone costs more than a ps5 for example

Just shows the 5800X3D should be this price.

    good price, good CPU

if you game at 4k, a cpu upgrade should be the last upgrade you need.
Unless your CPU is really old, spend it on a GPU first
im running hogwarts legacy on a 4090 and getting the same or better FPS as a 13900k (a £500 cpu)
same spiderman, MS flight sim, and all others i have tested.
    i run a amd 5600x with 16gb 3200mhz ddr4 ram. if i went AM5 i would see nothing for 4k gaming,

i was all in on going AM5
i see no reason to upgrade at all to a new CPU for gaming at 4k. (edited)

Oh this is tempting. Really tempting! Surely there will be some more deals? Hopefully UK based. I’m not in a rush to build my next rig so hoping they come down even more. (edited)

Cheaper than the motherboards it is going into if going for a ATX B650.

    Come on the price drops!

Depends how fast you want your cores. More isn't always best. I do think 8 cores really should be the minimum going forward though.
