Ordered a couple of bags. Beans were roasted in 2020 and ‘bb’ (best before?) 30/11/2022. I guess that it why they’re being sold pretty cheap

That said. Still produces a good crema and delicious coffee. Although, as you will tell from my coffee art, I’m not a connoisseur.

I don’t get why people buy old stale coffee beans when you can get freshly roasted for a little bit more £ .

Having fresh beans makes a huge difference !!

I agree with you re the taste but it's a lot more expensive. For example I get the top level from Pact and it's something like £12 per 250g.

I feel it's absolutely worth it for the taste but don't think you can compare to this due to the huge price difference.

Am I right in saying robusta are bad and want to go for 100% Arabica beans only? (edited)

Good old hukd "something 180% of the price is better" brigade.

Also, B2C machines don't get the best out of beans anyway, can probs get a better result from these beans in a dedicated espresso machine than you get from your £18 beans in a B2C.

Finally, ppl may have bought their posh coffee machines before the economy went to pot and could do with saving £8 a kilo for a marginal gain. I personally have better things to do with that money.

    Voted hot.

Might be a thicko here. But is this just different packing to the copper/bronze bag?
    antikewl's avatar
I believe that they’re the same blend, but the blue bag is for commercial use.

Is this too “bright” for delonghi dimanica ? Read that the shiny beans mess up and clog the machine ? Any advice appreciated
    tommo241's avatar
Used these a couple of times previously with Dinamica plus and never had any issues - not sure of the difference between a plus version and standard machine though.

How strong is that coffee? Usually says on the package
  19. Rich069's avatar
They look good, but i hope they are better than the last 3 1kg bags i got from them. All were very poor, watery and badly tasting. The Barista range.

Wow beans that were roasted over 2 years ago.... that's crazy!

Tried it and found it rather disappointing :-( it's got an unusual sweet Banana note though (edited)

Was yours out of date too? I suspect it makes little difference to my unrefined tastebuds so i'm going to give it a go.

I got mine refunded as well as others on this thread - thankfully my favorite coffee taste is "free"!

I am surprised at Amazon sent out old stock like this but if you can get a refund then the coffee is on jeff (edited)

I bought a bag of the lavazza espresso intenso for my Melitta solo and it's the best coffee I've had from the machine so far. Great price for this bag though

Just orderd got a grinder orderd too what's usuall measure of beans for a cup of brew ? :).
    robti's avatar
i am on 18g of beans
  37. Passionateaboutprice's avatar
Aldi is cheaper at 1.99 for 225g
  38. peanuted's avatar
Will a nutri bullet be useful for grinding?
    thorpe's avatar
Bladed grinders (even dedicated ones) are almost not worth it - very inconsistent grind counters a lot of the benefit of freshly ground. Not even sure how a blender compares.

Not sure how fresh it is but Nero pre-ground produced a decent cup of coffee for a fairly budget range (can buy from amazon or direct from Nero in a 6 pack).

Had regular coffee machines, caffatieres, b2c machine and a couple of pod variants. All good and convenient in their ways. Some better than others. I’ve finally settled on a moka pot. The coffee is fantastic. If all you want is a really good flat black or white coffee, they are really hard to beat on flavour imo. Quite probably one of the most cost effective too. Just takes a few brews to get the hang of things. Once mastered I cannot look back. (edited)

I just use a stainless steel french press (after a few smashed glass ones). Easy peasy. Though if I don't feel too good in the mornings, pressing a button on a machine is better.
