LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD with SELF-LIT PiXELS
LG OLED TV is a joy to behold. Self-lit pixels allow truly spectacular picture quality and a whole host of design possibilities, while the latest cutting-edge technologies help deliver unprecedented levels of wonder. This is everything you love about TV — elevated in every way.

What makes OLED unlike anything else?
The answer is self-lit pixels. A self-luminous display technology that makes all the difference to your viewing experience. Unlike LED TVs that are restricted by backlight technology, LG OLED TVs are capable of extreme realism and unique designs.

SELF-LIT PiXELS. 100 million reasons to love OLED.
When it comes to picture quality, OLED beats LED hands down. That's because OLED has millions of self-lit pixels capable of producing perfect black and accurate colour. The result is a viewing experience like no other.

OLED puts LED in the shade.
Put simply, OLED has millions of self-lit pixels that can turn on and off to achieve perfect black and infinite contrast. That black is better than both mini-LED and LED TVs. So it doesn't matter how many thousands of backlights they have, LED TVs will still be in OLED's shadow.

OLED passes with flying colours.
Global testing agency Intertek has confirmed that LG OLED displays have 100% colour fidelity. This means that the colours you see on the screen closely match the colours of the original image. So everything you watch looks as the creator intended.

A dazzling display of colour.
LG OLED TVs achieve full Colour Volume thanks to the excellent colour reproduction technology of LG TVs. With 100% Colour Volume, LG OLED can express 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum across a 3D colour space that covers the TV's full luminance range. This means that colours remain vivid and lifelike with full saturation no matter how bright or dark the display.

OLED Cinema. The award for best picture goes to…
LG OLED TV produces an award-worthy performance every time you watch thanks to its incredibly sharp picture. And with perfect black and 100% colour fidelity, movies are seen how they're meant to be seen.

Play at the highest standard.
LG OLED TVs are capable of a 1ms response time, while support for VRR, ALLM, and eARC meets the latest HDMI 2.1 specifications. These features allow fast-moving content in higher resolution and smooth, synchronized graphics to give you a more lifelike experience and a better chance of winning. Additionally, OLED C1 and G1 are now the world's first TVs to support the incredible Dolby Vision® HDR at 4K 120Hz for gaming, enhancing the playing experience to previously unseen levels.

How does this compare to the c2? Brightness etc
    Ouzoherb's avatar
The c2 is brighter but I only watch at 60% in a bright room so it's not a relevant issue. It's a marketing con the whole brighter thing. You need a reason to upgrade.

Can someone recommend a good sound system to go with this? Looking for full surround, mainly to watch movies.
    Jonwillis's avatar
    What budget are you thinking?
Do you need hdmi 2.1 for next gen consoles?

Denon x3700 is sold out now, but there is a sale on the new x3800 already if you are quick. £1200.

Denon x4700 is £1200 at av.com, then you can get a good speaker system to go with it

If that's too rich you can drop down to say x1700 for £600.

Going cheaper, I sold my 6 year sold Denon x2300 for £200! So due to shortages you'll find prices even for used are stubbornly high.

Speaker wise q acoustic 3010/3020 is good value, but alternative are the monitor bronze or Dali speakers. If you step up a range, say monitor silver you'll find things nearly treble in price. A monitor bronze centre is around £150 but a silver c350 is around £550.

I highly recommend 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 over a 7.1 setup. But that's my preference. For Atmos, if you don't want to cut the ceiling. Use Dali Alteco mounted to the side or rear walls.

For the sub woofer, look at bk subs. Made in the UK and are great value compared to bigger brands.

For speaker cable, any OFC (oxygen free copper) will do. You don't need branded cables but be aware copper prices are basically double what they were 3 years ago so it might be pricey. They do come in various sizes but 2x2mm will be big enough, you could even get away with a smaller size if all lengths are under around 8 meters.

Or you could just comprise and get a soundbar like LG G series for £300 off eBay. (edited)

    Curry's have this at £549 (£649 - £100 via discount code) - LG 50QNED816QA 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD.

In terms of value for money, is this a good alternative to the C1?
  4. el0nmu5k's avatar
Self-lit (confused). Do other tele's need a candle behind the screen.
    Jonwillis's avatar
    Yep.

LCD use a few tubes behind an LCD film
LED use a few LEDs behind an LCD film
QLED use a few LEDs behind an LCD film with quantum dot film added.
MiniLED use a few thousand LEDs behind an LCD film
The lights behind the film are all white. These are your candles.
If you ever get a chance to see an LCD film on its own you'll notice is almost completely black, as it emits no light. Was a pain in an old windows CE heldheld where I turned off the backlight in settings then had to try and find the option to turn it back on, without been able to see any text or dialog boxes!

MIcroLED like OLED have no LCD film. Each pixel lights up in the colour you see.
On a 4k screen that's 8.2million pixels and each pixel has red, green, blue lights so 24.6million in total.

That's alot compared to an edge lit led screen with probably under 100 LEDs. (edited)

Would this be any good as a message board display? Would you be able to scroll through a USB?

No. That’s probably the worst decision to purchase this TV.

I never heard anything like this.

Static images, will cause burn in over time on this OLED panel.

Just purchase a cheap Hisense or TCL LED / LCD. They all do the same thing.
  6. SerJambo's avatar
Im deciding between this at £810 or y r Hisense u7hq which I can get for £636 ( employee discount at argos)

Is this LG worth the extra money over the Hisense ?
    AJ10's avatar
    Author
If your room is super bright then Hisense. Otherwise LG OLED.

Edit: And yes the LG OLED is worth the extra over the Hisense. (edited)

Tempting. Not sure if the CS processor upgrade is worth waiting for a CS deal to come up though.
    Kummitha's avatar
3 weeks ago there was a deal for 817 which was price matched by currys with five year warranty. CS version
  8. robbiet's avatar
Any chance of a price match anywhere else you reckon that I can get some vouchers for through work? Make it even better 😁
    Kummitha's avatar
John lewis doesn't do any price match anymore

I've had this tv dor over a year and it is great. Even upscaled 480 content from ancient Freeview channels looks decent and 4k content from iPlayer and prime is fantastic. Only thing I don't like is the magic remote with its floating cursor. Plus turning on subtitles for Freeview content requires about 5 button presses but otherwise brilliant and great price.
  10. mwalke36's avatar
Does anyone know if the stand is fixed or does it allow the TV to move left or right?
    rev6's avatar
    Fixed lol

I always prefer and buy Sony but this is a great deal. Heat

FYI - Richer sounds will not price match this as the colour is different. 3 separate stores have provided the same response. (edited)

You should be able to price match it at Crampton & Moore.

    They sell the same model.

Looks a great deal with 5 years warranty - or am I missing something? Desperately need a new TV.

    It's a decent deal

I have this, a beautiful tv and great price with warranty

I've been buying an OLED for about 6 years now. This must be the one!
  18. Andrew_Smart's avatar
Damn, if it was an Android TV I'd buy it straight away. Killer TV none the less
  19. DJFen's avatar
looks like it works on others too.
    48" c2 for £881
  20. mwalke36's avatar
Now I'm confused. Was just about to purchase a 55 inch B2 from Costco for £850, but now I can get the C1 for £40 less or the C2 for £210 more. Which is the best for the money? (edited)
    Sieja's avatar
    C1 because of panel brightness
  21. gummby's avatar
Will RS price beat for £790? No code on site could stop that. (edited)

Try to buy not taking Payment ,Amex card?
    gummby's avatar
Wonder how much stock they actually have? These should be selling out quickly at BF prices.
  23. Greg.'s avatar
Getting the 55 CS for £730 from Currys for BF was a pretty good deal in hindsight! I think it’s the same screen as the C1 though and it is a stunning picture
    Jonwillis's avatar
Correct, C1 screen with C2 processor.
  24. StolenDiagram's avatar
Does this model have g-sync and freesync? I can't see it mentioned in the features list.
    Bubba_Smith's avatar
yes, VRR, G-SYNC AND FREE SYNC Premium
  25. Jonwillis's avatar
Main benefit of the C2 Vs c1, is the C2 is so much lighter due to different construction. Much easier to lift for wall mounting
  26. Phil_Hodgkinson's avatar
Fantastic deal. Always pains me to see these deals on the c1 when I bought my 48” c1 for £1100 nearly 18 months ago from John Lewis also paid extra £150 for their burn in cover which I will never need but gives piece of mind. Just recently bought a 65” s95b about 6 month ago and although really enjoying it with no problems and probably beats my c1 in every way I still think I prefer my c1.
    Jonwillis's avatar
The s95b has issues with text due to the pixel arrangement. Great for TV, games, movies. But not as a desktop monitor. Burn in aside, the C1 is better for PC use.
  27. Dash23's avatar
This came at the perfect time, I’ve been looking for a TV for our new place but given that we’re furnishing the entire house didn’t want to budget too much.

Any reason to NOT get this? I want it for movies and PS5 gaming.
    Jonwillis's avatar
Only reason is if you want a 65" instead

The C1 is great for the ps5.
I use c1 77" for TV, movies and xsx. (edited)

Then buy it. Won't go much lower than that.
  29. gummby's avatar
I am tempted but wanted c2. Plus other issues. Could store it for a month. Hmmm
    Jonwillis's avatar
Why do you want the C2?

    Lighter weight, guaranteed Evo panel?
  30. john.williams's avatar
Hi, Thinking of buying this......is the 5 year warranty/guarantee with Martin Dawes, reliable and as good as any?
  31. Fade2Grey's avatar
What are these like for watching 720p sports such as football compared to a LED/LCD screen? I've read numerous comments that it looks pretty bad in comparison. That's what's currently putting me off.
    Jonwillis's avatar
The OLED won't be any worse a high end 4k LCD. The issue you probably hear about is scaling artifacts, turning 720 image into 4k.
As well as motion processing if that's turned on. (edited)
  32. ZeeStar's avatar
The coupon code "TAKE10" is not valid.
  33. Feel_My_Noobies's avatar
Code no longer working or just me?
  34. Jonwillis's avatar
Same, coupon code no longer valid
  35. gummby's avatar
Had to happen. Swamped with orders I bet.
  36. gummby's avatar
If you add the c1 and c2 to basket it will add code for both but you would have to buy both too. So 809 and 1057.5. Code still works for the C2.
    Jonwillis's avatar
    That seems like a bug
  37. Fade2Grey's avatar
I see this company charge a 10% restocking fee if you're not a fan of the TV and wish to return it. No idea if that's the norm these days.
    gummby's avatar
If not open or unused I think you avoid the 10% fee. Of course if it is faulty you have your consumer rights. I think RS do the same. Not sure about Costco.

Exact same price I paid for it 12 months ago. Very good tv and this is a realistic price for it. It’s not worth more than this though. It should of been realistically this price at launch.
    Jonwillis's avatar
That's surprising. £800 is a fantastic price for an OLED TV. A few years back this was £1200 in the sales and before that just astronomically expensive. Sure the TV tech hasn't changed alot since but it's a great TV.
