Wait so this uses the same network as EE? That’s a very good deal. Vodafone and O2 signal is terrible in my area, and this would be the cheapest way to get an EE sim. I would have gotten it if I wasn’t on 20gb for £7.20 front the double discount deal.

It uses the same network as EE but only on bands 1, 3 and 7. Band 20 (800MHz) Is locked out on this network, as is 4G Calling (VoLTE), WiFi Calling, and 5G.

You will have less signal in less places than someone with an actual EE SIM Card. The same goes with the vast majority of the EE Piggyback networks including Plusnet. EcoTalk, and RWG.

If you want FULL Access to the EE Network then you would need to go direct with EE (Via the BT Website you can get some discounts too, like 20GB for £9, 100GB for £13.50, and 200GB for £16.20, as well as unlimited for £28. The very few other piggybackers with full access are China Mobile (cmlink.com/uk/…ans) and 1p Mobile (1pmobile.com)

Personally, I reckon it's worth going for 1p mobile if you want full band ee coverage inc 5g.

1p Mobile is no longer that cheap nowadays especially with their bundles, although EE’s 5G network does come at a cost!

I signed up last month. The changeover was quite efficient, in fact they ported my number one day earlier than expected. I got the £3.50 with 2GB data. I'm on the computer at work most of time so I thought I'll give this a try until I get past April and look for something with more data. I'm really delighted with the quality of calls. No complaints whatsoever. Highly recommended. After April I'll switch over to this £6 a month tariff.

So, if I had a contract coming to a close in a few days elsewhere, and I wanted to carry my number to them, do I first order a new sim (and number) from RWG, then ask to port? Or is porting something I need to establish from the outset?
    KodaBear's avatar
Order a SIM. Keep your contract going. Say nothing to your current provider and you will just keep going on a rolling agreement.

Text PAC to 65075 when you have your new SIM you ordered from another network and give it to your new provider to port your number. This will move your number over on the next working day, and close your account with your old provider in the process. You'll then get a final bill shortly afterwards to cover the partial month's usage (or a small refund of the partial month's usage, more likely)

Some splendid pricing from this MVNO, even charges for NON-EU international roaming for example
here is the current roaming cost from India:

    Outbound callInbound callSMSData (MB)India0.30.20.10.1

The above is for information only for those interested and not comparing with LEBARA (FUP)

    Outbound to India
    Landline 1p, Mobile 2p and SMS 19p.
Could not find the rates for roaming in India on their website. Please could you share how you got these. Thanks (edited)

This is now £5 per month.

What's the signal like inside buildings anyone? I switched from Plusnet to Lebara and found the signal to be much better inside buildings with Lebara.

Find EE proper alright on my work phone (plus it's now working in certain tunnels etc I assume due to their emergency services contract) but more issues recently than I used to with network capacity. I don't have a 5G work phone though so cannot test that.

Lebara on personal is probably just a touch worse but in some places it's better. More than acceptable imo.

Unless this were significantly cheaper I would give it a miss due to no VoLTE or WiFi calling though. (edited)

Because its an EE sim, does anyone no if u get double data as a BT halo customer?
    KodaBear's avatar
It's a RWG/NOW SIM. No connection to EE/BT Whatsoever. Just happens to piggyback on their signal. As such you'll get no benefit from being a BT Customer.

If you want to get the 10% Discount and double data from EE Direct (Where you will also benefit from 5G, WiFi Calling, VoLTE and more signal in more places thanks to the unlocking of the Band 20 frequency, you can see the deals linked below:

Good price for EE, shame no 5G or WiFi calling though!

do they have 4G VoLTE voice calling?

I'm on one of their pay £5 once and get 50min / 50 SMS / 250M a month for no ongoing monthly cost, and it works great. This deal isn't currently available afaik. Getting the SIM card set up initially wasn't quite as straightforward as it could have been but it's all working great since then
    Tim2011's avatar
Same here. (And I had no problems getting the sim card set up either). Great company.

I moved over to rwg a year ago. Splendid service and dirt cheap pay as you go / monthly plans. I hope they don't go out of business this year.

    Agree

That's excellent, especially with EE coverage. Thanks for highlighting. I am a big fan of theirs and long may they continue.

Ordered one SIM as a back up SIM card. Thanks, MrSwitch. Heat added.

A better deal offering the same amount of data would be the 5GB for £4.95 with Lebara via USwitch (£1.98 for the first 3 months). Not only is it cheaper, but Lebara offer wifi calling and RWG don't (although they say they plan to soon).

However, I agree RWG is a good company. I have their £15 upfront deal, which gives 100 mins, 100 texts and 750MB data, renewed every month deal (unfortunately no longer seems to be available to new customers). Works great as a second SIM in a dual SIM phone.

You say better, but not better if EE is the better network for you

Not bad Payg charges if all you want is calls and text, 5p min/sms
  18. Otto.uk's avatar
Is the £10 one-off or monthly?

    It's a one off £10 credit.

Gladly share the information with you. I sent an email to RWG support and they promptly replied with the information. The information about charges when roaming in India was in a nice tabular form but didn't copy /paste too well above.
I certainly think it is cheaper than any other network (except Lebara free user allowance under FUP).
Maybe you should email them to confirm and let us know if its not too much trouble.
Also it tells you on RWG Website that calls don't cost more than 50p per minute for non-EU roaming. Charges come out of your credit you top up. Hope this helps

Does anyone know what roaming is in Switzerland, Barbados and South Africa? I can see it says a maximum of 50p but that suggests they charge different rates.

Also the free sim doesn’t include free EU roaming but does include roaming. Is it charged at the standard rates in the EU? Not sure why they can’t just put this on their website.

Shame no mobile app like plusnet, but I might give this a go
  21. tan159's avatar
Pakistan is 5p per minute as well. Lebara & lyca sit at 8p
  22. mb1's avatar
Ordered to replace Talkmobile, who I've only just joined! So 5p more a month for 1GB more. EE coverage too. Bargain.
