    4 GB of RAM.
    plewis00's avatar
Yes, but other recent budget phones costing more only had 4GB (I think some Honor one and another Xiaomi) and people were ok with it. I agree it’s a mild concern longer-term.

Great phone picked it up new for under £50 (Link), still using it now.

    Voted hot

Me too, that was a steal. It's actually a decent phone even at the price it is now.
It's quite light, has a decent screen and camera too.
I bought it for my mother and she's entirely happy with it. She's impressed by how fast it charges coming from a Samsung J5. (edited)

    Currently £199 on Xiaomi website.

Xiaomi needs to be taught a lesson.

No doubt many will reminisce about the glitch price but I would say this is the best price one would get today especially if one could find a surefire way of recouping £10 top up. Apart from my reservation about screen brightness, it is a solid everyday work horse.
    plewis00's avatar
Was the glitch pricing on the 5G version? That alone makes it good value. It’s a solid little phone for not a lot of money.

Great phone, my Mum's current device - zero issues. I had one (unbranded) whilst I was repairing my daily - faultless experience! Highly recommend Xiaomi.

Something to consider with Vodafone though, although the phone is unlocked, there is still some Vody bloat on it and Miui updates always arrive later than native Xiaomi releases. Also, no WiFi calling. Tried with both Sky and Lebara on my Mum's phone - and Lebara uses Vodafone. It might work with a Vodafone sim, I haven't tested it.

What Android version will the Vodafone version update to straightaway? Thanks

Mine wasn't purchased from Vodafone, in fact directly from Xiaomi but should update to this50124467-7xh9o.jpg

I had one of these about a year or so ago and it was perfectly fine, despite a lot of reviews saying the screen looked washed out. I think I paid about this much too, which IMO it's worth, but it only has around a year of updates left before Xiaomi forget about it.
    Bargainz999's avatar
For such a cheap price, you could always buy it and flash a new custom rom, which would resolve the issue of updates.

Is this any good as a 5G AP?
    dkj255's avatar
It'll work but may not be as good as a dedicated AP or router with built-in AP. And that's because your WAP will likely have at least 2x2 MIMO, which isn't a given on 802.11ac (aka WiFi5) phones. In fact, only my Nokia 8.3 has 2x2 MIMO on wifi 5 - all of my Xiaomi, BBK (and even Samsung) only have 1x1 until you get to the wifi 6 capable models.

I was lucky to grab this for £53 last year for my teenage daughter.
    hotukdeals.com/share-deal-from-app/3942039

At that price it's a decent phone but a year on, the phone has become laggy and crashing on the odd occasion after the Miui updates. It may also due to the fact my daughter is overworking it with many social media apps running at the same time
Looking for another bargain to upgrade but nothing decent found yet (edited)

Spot on comment about this phone after a year or so's use, I have experienced similar.

Had it with Samsung though. (edited)

    Poor screen in sunlight
    ashyt16turbo's avatar
Nothing to worry about in this country then

Good think I've managed to get one last year for £54. I wouldn't pay this much now, knowing what it can do.
    innocent's avatar
What can it do or not do? I am genuinely interested. Apart from the lack of screen brightness, I have noticed that it has become slower after MIUI 14 Update!
  13. stephenpaz's avatar
I've had one for just over a year. Paid £109 moved from a galaxy a70 as the charging port on that was starting to cause issues. For my use, browsing, social media, shopping etc not noticed any real difference.

Bought this phone in September 2021 from Vodafone for £110, good 5g phone.

Great phone I've had this for over a year and it's been brilliant I paid £129 in the Xiaomi sale

The note 10 has 4K video but this 5G version only HD video. Shame as I might have given it a go.
    plewis00's avatar
I have an iPhone 13 Pro and can’t say I’ve ever felt the need to record in 4K, 1080p is usually plenty and is more reasonable on the storage too. Is it that important - obviously I don’t know how you use it, so that was a serious question.

Got a note 9 had it for years is this a big jump or should I wait for 11 or 12 at around this price or a little more ? Seen a poco is this as good ?
    yinkuze's avatar
I have the iPhone 14 pro max and Redmi Note 9 pro for work, and the truth is that I have never felt the Note 9 was slower, I have really never noticed. The only thing I notice everyday is my stupidity at paying 10 times more for the iPhone when the Redmi does 90% of what it does. (edited)

Best phone in this price range? Looking for a phone for my 10 year old daughter... Mainly used for Whatsapp, YouTube and playing Minecraft/Roblox.
  19. malct1's avatar
So if you want , You can use the Vod £10 credit on the PAYG and then put your own sim card it since i guess it will be unlocked.. not sure how good this phone is compared to the Redmi note 9 pro that i have
    Mooney_70's avatar
Use the Vodafone SIM to access VeryMe rewards app. You never know they might have some decent freebies in the time you have the credit on there?
