I have two of these, which were gifts for myself and partner at Christmas 2021. They're pretty great and can be machine washed too. Even if it's not plugged in it's nice and warm to sit with, when watching everlasting re-runs of Peppa Pig

There are 3 heat settings "Choose settings 1-2 for slower heat up and moderate warmth, or 3 for faster, ultimate cosiness."

Love these heated throws, my top purchase of 2023. Cut gas bill by about £20 in a month. Heated throw 3p per hour, gas fire in living room 25p per hour, house central heating 85p per hour - ninja maths (edited)

central heating is closer to £2.50/hour

these throws are great for single people or the elderly

be aware the house is still an icicle, its just the person who gets the warmth

personally i swear by infrared heaters- they use a fraction of fan heaters, none of the dust from the fans is blowing at you, the heat is instant and feels lovely
if you have cold rooms because of a draft, infrared is perfect, it will heat regardless of if cold is being lost throgh drafts

honestly, central heating is awfully priced right now- the government has left us all in the lurch as always- and its a damn shame because underfloor heating is the best feeling ever for the uk in winter

waking up to heated floors is up there with kicking a bundle of leaves in autumn, walking barefoot on grass, listening to the ocean at the beach in summer

Heated throws are a game changer. I have 2 of another brand. I haven't put my heating on.

Do you wear it around the house or something?

Might not be the best but unfortunately it's what I can afford at the moment and this seems to be the cheapest Silentnight Luxury Heated Throw available currently... so thanks to op for spotting and posting it

Putting the heating on when the kids aren't staying with me isn't an option so I'm taking the 'heat the person and not the house' mantra. But wearing thermal leggings and top plus two jumpers aren't helping at the moment... these are supposedly cheap to run so hopefully if I can refrain from putting the heating on it will pay for itself fairly quickly.

When the kids stayed last I had the heating on, I have it on in the morning so they wake up in a warm house and then had it on for when the came home from school and left in on until bedtime... the heating that day cost £10.65 according to my Hive app!! This blanket should pay for itself in next to no time if it means I can hold off putting the heating on which I have rarely done when it's just me in the house. Has a 3 year warranty if it fails but the majority of reviews on Amazon are positive (73% either 4 or 5 stars) however I do note that there are a fair amount (14% = 1 star) of negative reviews though so I guess we'll have to wait and see. Always find it odd how reviews can vary like that, it almost sounds like a quality control issue in that you may get a good performing blanket or one that isn't?

It's no wonder that these things have become so popular. I bought electric blankets for all their beds before Christmas which they love, they only cost 1p an hour apparently on the lowest setting... can't go wrong compared to cost of putting central heating on these days. (edited)

Oh they're less than that an hour. I think they're about 8p or something similar. A radiator cost about £1 to heat every 8 hours.

Spend a bit more and get yourself a dreamland, they really are night and day. Now we are coming to the end of winter keep an eye for deals as they keep increasing by around £10 each year.

Do you have a link I’m looking into getting an electric blanket but don’t know what is the best one to buy?? Many thanks in advance

Question: does anyone now how much EMF these heated blankets produce and whether this can be dangerous for the human body? (edited)
    BuckRodgers666's avatar
Unlikely to be an issue, the current drain is relatively low.

Just so you know, these are currently £55 on the silentnight website, so good price. BUT while on there no mention at all about the Elec specs ie wattage (so how warm it gets). Which is something I wanted to know when I did my research and decided on my Dreamland one from Argos. I decided that 150watts (rather than some that were 100w) and was worth the £70 outlay to keep me warm & toasty rather than just luke warm, and also not having to heat the whole house up. On full setting just under 5p/hour, on low prob around 1p. After I bought it, I saw the same product in slightly diff packaging in Chiltern Mills at £30 so I bought two more as I was that impressed.

Was the Chiltern Mills one a dreamland one thanks

Poor quality and doesn't get particularly warm. You can get much better for the money.

    Same. Mines still working though

Was thinking about ordering until I saw their trustpilot reviews 😬
    radu.sebi's avatar
    You have the warranty

I have a two Dreamland electric throws - working really well and seam reliable but do cost more. But as mentioned great savings on heating bill. So if Trust Pilot reviews poor it might be worth checking these out.

Had one of these from Asda. Good whilst it lasted but then broke. Returned to Asda for a refund and purchased a Dreamland one instead.

Received my heated throw yesterday and used it last night and have to say I'm quite pleased with it. All areas heated up nicely and evenly distributed, I only had it on setting 2 and that was warm enough for me, I actually turned it down to 1 after an hour. I guess too early to say whether it performs in the long term but it has a two year warranty so should it fail... it will be going back. I would have liked it a little larger but I knew the measurements before purchasing and its more than sufficient for two...not sure about the 4 people they have pictured! Personally I think the actual blanket is of fairly good quality compared to the non heated throws we have.

Anyone know what the biggest blanket size you can get? Ive got one of these but want a bigger one ideally
