Info added by

TRU PICTURE TECHNOLOGY

Toshiba's TRU picture technology provides smooth, upscaled and more detailed viewing. 4K means a clearer picture - with more pixels on the screen creating crisper images on the beautiful 55-inch screen. You can also upscale a wide variety of non-4K content, for more refined images that feel more lifelike and immersive.

4K & DOLBY VISION HDR

Watch 4K HDR content in all its glory. Dolby Vision™ HDR transforms your TV experience with ultra-vivid picture quality. When compared to a standard picture, Dolby Vision can deliver colours never before seen, highlights that are up to 40 times brighter, and blacks that are 10 times darker.

CRISP COLOURS & CONTRAST

TRU Micro Dimming improves contrast, focusing on all the different regions of the image. HDR10 High Dynamic Range also enhances colour contrast, making blacks darker and whites brighter.

DOLBY ATMOS AUDIO

Dolby Atmos audio offers a premium entertainment experience that helps you feel a deeper connection to the movies, shows, music, sports, and games you love. Hear what you’ve been missing with an immersive experience like no other.

Comet was owned by kingfisher group till 2011. It went bankrupt in 2012 one year after being sold to Private equity firm "opCapita" for £2. Yes you read that right two pounds!

The UK Computer Group bought the rights to the Comet brand and the website from the liquidators Deloitte in December 2019. In July 2020, they promised a relaunch on social media. In August 2020 the Comet website was relaunched as a trading name of Misco Technologies

The wiki page is quite interesting and worth a quick read... en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…oup

    A quick summery here...

Its yet another British firm bought for almost nothing, asset stripped and laden with debt. Then put into administration. OpCapita was also involved in the MFI and GAME administration or bankruptcy.

On 1 November 2012, Comet announced it was filing for administration, and entered administration the following day. Deloitte were appointed to act as administrators for the chain.

In June 2014, former staff, represented by the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers and the United Road Transport Union, won an Employment Tribunal case that they had not been consulted properly about redundancy by Comet and the administrators, Deloitte. This enabled about 7,000 former staff to apply for redundancy financial assistance.[74] Accounting records suggested that the owners, including OpCapita and Elliott Advisors, recovered about £117 million from Comet, and administration fees were more than £10 million.

Three administrators from Deloitte were referred to the accountancy regulator by the Insolvency Service over the failure to consult properly about redundancy, which led to government costs of about £26 million for redundancy payments.

More tax payers money wasted, whilst investors  and administers get rich, and pay nothing.

Good sturdy stand. Handy for when you launch your remote at it because you can't get a decent picture on it or navigate the menus without infuriating lag.
