With a product like this, what does the built in Zigbee actually mean?

I have a whole host of Zigbee devices already, using a RPI. Is this another Hub? Inside a mesh?

I just set this Pro 3 pack up (1 on each floor). I'm not impressed. If you have a PPPoE connection the setup is so convoluted. You have to basically disregard the whole app setup and connect it to a normal router so you can actually get into the main page to then enable PPPoE and then disconnect your router and plug into the modem directly.

2 of them setup fine and updated firmware. However the 3rd required powering off and restarting multiple times before it would state I was on latest 6.14 software.

I've had complaints of streams buffering if not the main gateway node and pinging devices on other nodes is really sporadic at times, sometimes hitting over 100ms to a device.

I'm also trying to get straight answers from my family but according to them they did not input the wifi password onto a mobile phone and it somehow automatically connected to the eero system even when the ssid and password was unique to this new eero system.

For £303 I really expected a more seamless and better experience. I'm really considering going for something much cheaper. I do think Amazon acquiring Eero has put them under so much strain to support all this other stuff it's really hit reliability and performance.

I haven’t got mine setup yet as they haven’t arrived, but I wonder if it shares the SSID and password with your Amazon account, similar to when you buy Echo decides and they come preconfigured. Happy to let you know if something similar happens with mine.

I’ve tried a lot of mesh systems recently.. I’m still using old BT discs from years ago as nothing has beaten them yet (despite them being rated as slower speed). I tend to agree that software causes a lot of the problems.

The most recent system I tried was ASUS Zen Wifi XT8. They looked promising to start with but had no ends of problems with drop outs, devices not connecting etc. and so after reading up turns out their implementation of wifi 6 is really buggy.

The one thing my BT discs are missing really is the ability to tie devices to a specific node. If they could do that I’d prob wait for something else despite the slower speeds.

Long ass comment over. But hopefully helps… (edited)

Had the eero 6 mesh 3 Pack before and the software on it was a joke!! So buggy and slow!

It worked well on my existing BT line and speed was great but shame I had a lot of problems with it, sometimes it connects sometimes it drops.

Bought ASUS XT8 Mesh system in the end and never looked back! ASUS’ mesh system works so well!!!

That's very odd, as I moved the other way.

Had the XT8 system and we had issues with wifi - this was with multiple devices including PS5, phones, laptops.
The devices would show a full wifi signal, but no internet - the only way to fix this was to disconnect and reconnect. Very annoying.

It was a known issue at the time with Asus routers, so I returned the devices, and got Eero (5) Pros - and now Eero 6 pro - after one of the 5 pros died and Amazon refunded.

Not had many issues, if any at all with my Eero setup - set up and almost forget about it.

Good router but recently software is buggy. Hard to connect to some websites, some apps do not loading. Waiting for update.

So... Not a good router then?

Amazon erro routers can have problems with Sky tv boxes and Microsoft Teams meetings.
    White5tar's avatar
I use MS Teams extensively for work. Used to have normal wifi 5 pros, recently upgraded to these 6 pro units.
Never had a problem with either of them so far. Both with and without VPN.

My wife has also used it off of VPN for meetings, with no issues.

Can't comment on Sky TV box as we have Virgin TV - no issues connecting to any devices, so I am guessing there's something else going on with your units.

How are you getting the German £303 price ? The link takes you to the £387 UK price

I’ve corrected it. No idea why it was showing dispatch from Germany. You need to apply the voucher on the page using the tickbox. The link takes you to the product page but you need to do the rest

This delusion about the price of mesh routers needs to end. Theres nothing special about the electronics of these, they are not costing manufacturers anything like this kind of money to manufacturer, there is a huge and unjustifiable profit margin on mesh routers for some reason. I'll jump when prices come down to sane levels

    Makes sense to me!

I wish I was in a position where I was saying “oh no, I have 900mbps I best upgrade” still on 75mbps here, and only now starting to get options for 100-300 showing up recently in my area. So I’m “future proofing” haha.

I currently have/NEED 7 of these in my house to get anything like decent coverage.
    roll_me_some's avatar
You need Ethernet points installed in your house then rather than mesh

    Brilliant price for 3.
I currently have 2 that are still working after I left talktalk 6 months ago and moved house to a virgin media only property.
Contemplating whether to buy these (I think this is the cheapest ever price?) in case the talk talk ones some day get blocked.
    Hmmmm

I've 3 from TalkTalk, just coming to the end of my contract and was wondering whether they worked with another provider.

if you have a 1930's brick built house with brick internal walls- forget it these are absolutely dreadful.

    I bought a XE75 AXE5400 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E System (3-Pack) for £320. I don't think this is worth the price.

got a link please to where you got them for that price pls

im not sure which one is an effective wifi mesh system that can go through brick walls. For some reason, none of these go far enough.
Speed aka wifi6 isn't what i need, its latency and range. (edited)

I don’t know what system you use but if you can force the devices furthest from the APs to use 2.4Ghz you’ll get a better connection. 5Ghz gives you more speed but less range. I live in an old house and actually choose to run all of my APs on the ground floor as the signal moves better between the floors than it does the walls (edited)

I have the original Eeros but just got Virgin upgraded to 1gb so been waiting on these to drop.

Not sure whether to get 6+ or 6 Pro's 2 pack though.
    JoeKober's avatar
I’m in the same boat. My deco m5 can’t do the speed. Did you pick one?
  17. White5tar's avatar
Quite annoyed...I bought it for £369, then returned it and bought it at £303 w/instalment option.

Now it looks like they've reduced it further to £284 - but without an instalment option, it seems.

Does anyone know if Amazon does partial refunds on items reduced within a certain time of purchase?

For some reason it's actually cheaper per unit if you buy the 2 pack (188/2 = 94 vs 285/3 = 95). You would think the 3 pack should be about 280. Plus if you get the 2 pack you get a 10 foot CAT 6 cable from Amazon Basics which essentially makes the units around 91 each. You don't get the cable with the 3 pack.

I have a 3 story house in which each floor is approx 45x40 foot and found the 3 pack way overkill. 2 should be way more than enough for anybody. Took one out of the network and no real difference so I'm sending the 3 pack back and getting the 2 pack. (edited)
