sorted byIt does seem like a bargain - but honestly it's so frustrating to use.
I finally ended up getting the TCL ROKU tv - absolutely brilliant piece of kit with an awesome pic.

Also be aware that Toshiba don't actually make their own TVs, it's a Turkish company called Vestel that make lower end TVs that licence the Toshiba brand. These cheaper sets plaster the box with the usual bells and whistles: "4K UHD", HDR10, etc, but will rarely ever have the specs to take full advantage of it or to display the HDR properly, for example. The OS will usually be quite poorly designed and slow on these sorts of TVs too.
I'd avoid this even at this price, especially if you're planning on using this as a primary TV for gaming and/or 4K movies. (edited)
Takes ages to get started, TV Guide 30 Seconds, Remotes break, extremely slow in operation and the Screen goes blank when it feels like it.
Pass.
8.3 out of 10 overall.
I counted up all reviews below 8/10 and grouped them into categories as follows: -
Sound quality issues - 9
System lag issues - 5
Picture quality issues - 5
Unspecified - 5
Keeps turning off - 4
Remote control issue - 2
Worst than Samsung - 1
No ceefax available - 1
So biggest issue appears to be sound quality, which could be fixed with a sound bar.
System lag could probably be fixed with stick or dongel, as mentioned in comments.
Obviously, picture quality is the big one, but that's 5 reviews out of 140+.
All other issues appear to be user specific.
Whether the TV has longevity is a different story, but overall doesn't seem too bad.
Reviews on these cheap low end TVs are not really accurate to the actual quality of the device. The customers buying these budget sets generally do so as they are looking for the cheapest 4k TV, which this fits the bill. This also means they may not have much experience with better quality TVs, so any 4K TV is going to seem great for someone like that. Whilst it is unfair to compare it to a top end OLED, it has to be described as what it is, a cheap low quality TV. If that is what you’re looking for then that is fine, just don’t expect a quality TV (especially if you’ve had any experience with one).
Also you have to take into account the lifespan of these cheaper sets, they are prone to faults due to the cheaper parts and build quality. That has to be factored into your purchase choice, as you may have to buy again which factors into the price
Viewed as a budget 65" TV it's good. 4K and HD picture quality is good-to-very good, within the limits of a 'budget panel'. Blacks are not black, they are dark grey. Colours are ok, but not overly vivid. Turning the colour up just gives people orange faces and turning the contrast up gives deeper blacks but loses shadow detail. SD channels are pretty blurry and not pleasant to watch.
Sound is pretty poor. Amazon's description says it has a built in sub-woofer. If that's true then it's not working on my set as there is no bass to speak of (as with every other cheap flat panel TV I've ever heard to be fair). At least vocals are clear but the lack of bass makes it sound like everyone is speaking through toilet rolls and a sound bar makes a huge difference.
The TV tuner is just horrible and I believe is the main reason some reviewers have condemned the TV for being slow. The TV starts up in just a few seconds to the Fire Stick/streaming menu but the inbuilt TV tuner is very sluggish (taking 20-30 seconds to show anything) and once or twice has required the TV to be rebooted to function at all. The TV also can't record onto a USB stick, but will display photos or videos that are on it, i.e. it will read from a USB device but will not record onto it. But it's only the inbuilt TV tuner that's painfully slow, streaming functions and the general operation of the TV seems fine (at least to me). So in the same way that the TV must be used with a sound bar imo, it must also be used with an external Freeview HD or Sky box. Used in that way it's fine, using the inbuilt tuner is very frustrating.
The TV should be viewed as a reasonable quality (but budget) 65" panel with inbuilt 4K Fire Stick imo, but you need to factor in the cost of a sound bar and FreeviewHD/Sky box. I wouldn't personally like to rely on the inbuilt speakers and TV tuner.
£322 for a 65” 4k ultra tv what’s there not to like. Might not be everybody’s make or spec but £322 hot from me 👌
2 toshiba 55” smart TVs in the past 2 years. One lasted 18 months and the other 2 years. Absolutely knackered and toshiba don’t want to know after 12 months
Just replaced today for Samsung and it’s 10 x quicker. 5 year warranty.
These might be half the price but they’re gonna be in the dustbin in 18 months.
Check reviews !
Second is upset cause it take time to fire up the tv which everyone should expect from a cheap tv like this
how hot does it get?
For everyone else, I'd rec seriously thinking about it. A good TV lasts YEARS, it's not like a phone.
If (and I stress 'if') you can stick up a few more quid, then do so. Read reviews, watch reviews, look at the software, go into a store like Richer Sounds.
That's all a bit nerdy I know, but people on average spend hours every day with their TVs. Do yourself a favour and get something better if you can afford it and it's your main screen. £2/3/400 is not a big deal over 5-10 years. £320 feels great today, but you have to live with the downsides for a lot longer
Sad that my TV has just gone past its 2 year warranty. Good value at £330 all in. (£370 counting 2 £15 fire sticks and 1 £10 chromecast. 4th input is my Windows 10 laptop. (edited)
Put one of these in my cart at Amazon and was close to pulling the trigger but opted out of it, just because I don't want to start collecting TVs like I've been collecting monitors.
I'm not a big user of the features, I mainly use it as a computer monitor and watch blu rays, but I prefer the Toshiba operations slightly more than the Hisense.
Quite a few negative feedback!
I suppose for the price it's a deal!
Anyone know who manufactures it?
