Some people seem to think the 12700H (present in the 5i gen 7) is as good as the 13700HX. Not even close

The 12700h was a nig step up from the 11 series but you're spot on this CPU is nearly,50% faster in cinebench and my 12700h manages 18000+ and this gets in the 30000
    Incredible

Getting this bad boy set up, it's a beast and not as big as I thought it would be. The power adapter tho...

The only reason I didn't post this myself is that I was tired of the usual types coming along and explaining they can get a better one for 2p

There are quite a few 7o pro gen 8 vids, and it is very similar, just a bit smaller and cheaper.

Its funny how I see many recent vids, for the gen7, seems like most of the reviewers didn't realize the gen8 was coming out

Way better, in my humble opinion. Particularly the display is a big step up, let alone the rest of the specs being better. (edited)

For £20 odd extra I got the 1 yr onsite selection, so if something goes wrong they can actually make a home visit and sort it.

Been after a laptop for a long time, finally bit the bullet! Hopefully, this lasts me years like my last one! I'll be going from an i7-4510u showing its age nowadays to this, can't wait!

Also used TCB which amazingly cleared within an hour too, which got me another 3.15% cashback on this. Bonus!

Just typed Lenovo in the search bar and went from there after logging into TCB. Literally fell off my chair when it was paid so quickly! Hope the browser gods are on your side too if you do try again (I used MS Edge as a totally clean browser session vs Brave which is what I normally use).

Not sure anyone in their right mind would be looking at this laptop as an upgrade from 3070ti.

More of a decision between the two on which to buy.

I have the old Legion 5 Pro and I'll say that if you do any productivity work, these high refresh rate 16:10 2k displays are to die for. (edited)
    MrAkagi's avatar
    MrAkagi
Yeah, the additional screen real estate is quite important for this form factor as well, I was debating a 17.3" but it simply isn't as portable, the 16" 16:10 display is a good compromise. (edited)

Please do not buy lenovo products. Their products are not good quality at all. If you face a problem they won't give a dame about it. I bought a laptop I couldn't use it because its faulty so it's been going for endless repair. I've already send it 3 times for repair for the same fault which has not still been rectified. This is a brand new completely unused laptop. Now their telling me to send again for the 4th time for the same problem. They won't replace it or refund the money. They won't follow their own policy. Please stay away from them. Check their reviews before you buy it.

Pity Gen 8 isn't available yet for AMD since 7845HX is highly rated yet more power efficient than Intel. (edited)
    fancellu's avatar
    fancellu
Yes, I'm probably getting an AMD desktop next, as it also will have a longer lifespan on the AM5 platform.

But the 13700HX looks very good, so many cores/threads, and upgrading isn't the same issue with laptops.

Also, for my uses, it is spending most of its life plugged in

The release of gen 8 seems to have caught many people by surprise, even reviews from a month or so ago are about the gen7

"Lenovo AI Engine+, powered by the Lenovo LA AI chip, deploys a software machine learning algorithm to optimally tune system performance. The chip uses software machine learning, deployed through Lenovo Vantage, to help monitor in-game FPS and dynamically adjust for the highest performance output. Offering up to 15% higher TDP, this chip and machine learning software combo allows Legion Pro Series laptops to deliver higher performance compared to previous generations."

The listing does say it’s without an OS, if it’s looking for a PXE boot server I expect you can still insert a usb with a windows ISO on it and install? The device won’t be bootable with nothing on it.

I got mine yesterday, Win 11 home. Works lovely. Great build quality.
    13700-hx, 32gb ram, 1TB SSD, RTX 4060

I would have hoped that people had checked that they were getting an OS before ordering! Or at least know what "no OS" means. I can't see how they can claim to be unhappy when the fault was with them not reading properly

I am having issues with installing new windows 11 pro. Keyboard and touch pad is not detecting and the installation stuck at connecting to network stage as it is only showing Ethernet as option. Even if i pass that stage still my keyboard is not working to type anything. Anyone experience similar problem?

I'm installing Windows 11, the touch-pad is not working during the Windows installation and I don't have a wired mouse, great.

Did this happen to anyone else? The touchpad worked seamlessly on all my previous Lenovo laptops.

I have a legion 5 from a few years ago. I actually bought it because it looks more like a business laptop and less like a gamer laptop. Also the finish is quite premium.

This is the high end version of Lenovos laptops btw, the budget line of gaming laptops is the ideapad gaming line (edited)

It's better to sell the laptop at a lower price at let users install whatever OS they want.

NO OS - So use your own USB.

I'm currently installing but mouse pad isn't working on Windows 11 install screen and now Wifi isn't showing when on the Network connection screen on Setup (only Ethernet).

EDIT - Once windows is installed and logged in, mousepad works and wifi works. Doesnt seem to work in setup though!

EDIT 2 - Looks like battery life is around 100 mins from 100% just setting up windows, no GPU intensive stuff. Thought it would be longer than that ? (Battery saver on) (edited)
