I see this few days ago at dell for those interested

Newer dell g15 with 13th gen intel i5 and rtx 3050 6gb but with 8gb ram with code MYVOUCHERCODES4 to get it at £719 dell.com/en-…212

edit: could be cheaper if you sign up for dells news letter and wait for a code plus 6% at top cash back (edited)

Worse screen, half of ram and disk space, worse graphics as not the Ti version. No thank you.

Is there a big leap in performance to a 3060 from a 3050Ti?
    plewis00's avatar
Yes, huge leap (50% more CUDA cores, 50% more memory bandwidth) and 6GB VRAM which, while still light, is better than 4GB which is quickly being rendered obsolete.

To anyone who thought I was rubbishing this deal, it was not 'terrible' at all; as an all-rounder, the specs were great. As a long-lasting gaming system, the GPU will be the bottleneck rapidly. At £633, anyone who bought it will probably be happy (as you get a large SSD, lots of RAM, fast CPU and a good display) but I do think for a gaming laptop you need to focus primarily on the GPU (eg I'd take an RTX 3060 and an 11th Gen CPU, less RAM, SSD, etc. over a 3050) and this is a bit of a letdown as 4GB cards barely cut it today - you can always lower settings but game devs have shown they will use as much VRAM as is available, especially where there are lazy console ports with settings turned up for the sake of it.

The RRP is ridiculous and no-one was ever paying that! However, if you bought this laptop, you still got a nice machine for a good price and no doubt, you will enjoy it. (edited)

Thanks, I appreciated your input on this thread, it definitely made me pause for thought. Still happy I went for it. It'll meet my requirements and is in budget.

Good points on the restrictions of upgrading CPU/GPU vs SSD/RAM.

This actually looks like a really good deal. Camel Camel Camel shows the price history.

It isn't that great. It also shows an RRP of £1099 which is bonkers and totally unrealistic.

This has 3050Ti. Good deal. (edited)
    Strontium00's avatar
Are you sure it's a 3050Ti? I can only see 3050. Great if it is a Ti. (edited)

    The amazon description is awful....

"Speed meets endurance with AMD Ryzen processors

    plewis00's avatar
Yes, it's a mess. It references two different models multiple times: 15ITL6 but the product code (82S9009HUK) suggests it's the 15IAH7, the last digit is the Lenovo Generation number.

Mine just arrived, says RTX 3050 Ti on box so that is a bonus.
    plewis00's avatar
Good. It sounds like the Lenovo model number was right and it is a Gen 7, not the Gen 6 in the title and with RTX 3050. It's possible the cheaper white one was non-Ti.
