    In 2016 £250 bought a 8GB Radeon RX 480 around launch time.

In 2023 £280 you can now buy a card which is about 2-3 faster but still has only 8GB of VRAM

Now, 8GB on the 480 back in 2016 might have been overkill, but 8GB in 2023 is pretty low.

(Yes, there are worse cards like the RTX 3070 which is a lot faster still but come with the same 8GB, or the RTX3080 which does come with whole extra 2GB but then is is much faster than this so the ratio of performance to VRAM is poor.)

Now a inflation calculator does say £250 in 2016's money is nearly £350 now but still.

    I run a 3440x1440 21:9 screen with an 8gb 2070. Haven't had any issues at all. (edited)

Been cheaper it's okay but these AMD cards have unreal coil whine, bought one from ebuyer on eBay not long ago for around £260 had to send it back was unbareable, seems quite common, was undervolted etc too didn't really help

Funnily enough I do actually own this exact model (the Asus Dual), just the 6600 XT version instead of the 6650 XT one. I've not had any issues with coil whine so far, but only been using it a couple months. Bit of a lottery with coil whine, my card before that was a 1660 from Nvidia which had terrible coil whine.

Wait for the new AMD & Nvidia mid & low end cards, also a chance we get price cuts as the economy is slowing and the new cards released up to now like the 4080 are not shifting.

Got some info you care to share when those cards are coming? 4060 is rumoured to cost around 400$ so what mid to low end are you talking about? Both AMD and Nvidia are whitholding the supply to keep the prices up. (edited)

Never buy an overclocked and overvolted variant from AMD or Nvida- they use a ton more power for a very modest bump in performance, and you are charged a large premium for a card that costs them no more to make.

Anyhoo- the Chinese 5700 cards are a far better buy than any 6600 card (tho the 6600 non-XT does use a lot less power).
