Funny how the ONE advantage Nvidia surely has- namely power efficiency- is least likely to be mentioned by Nvidia shills. Why? Because every Nvidia lover knows Nvidia 90% of the time leans on lousy overclocked variants with terrible power draw (see all the 3000 series EXCEPT the 3070), and will return to this strategy again and again.

The 4000 series, for marketing reasons (the chips are too good, so Nvidia cripples them with artificial power restrictions giving room for 'super' variants at the end of the year), are a rare example of Nvidia having great power efficiency across the stack. Of course, Nvidia combines this one good feature with the worst gen-on-gen pricing ever witnessed.

I went for an Asus 6650 xt (10% less performance and only 8GB than the 6700 xt (12GB) from AWT for £269 minus £65 in cash redemption and a free copy of the Last of Us. (edited)

I have this GPU. Had to upgrade my CPU, GPU and PSU as my 3600 was bottlenecking it even tho I read it wouldn't. Nice GPU tho.

CPU should not really have been a bottleneck if you play at 1440p surely?

GPU prices are dropping DAILY. The 7600 and 4060TI launches have both been disasters, but are help push the price of last gen down faster. If you can wait, then WAIT. July sees the 'secret' launch by Nvidia and AMD of the rest of their stack, are the coming cards are just the worst. Which will pile even more downward pricing pressure on a rapidly collapsing GPU marketplace.

AMD's 8GB cards are all heading toward 200 quid and less. AMD's 12GB will thusly be pulled below 300. Nvidia's 8GB cards will be in freefall, as Nvidia finally disowns 8GB as a serious amount of VRAM for anything.

With 8GB of VRAM costing AMD and Nvidia around 25 dollars (yes really), AMD's RDNA2 16GB cards can be happily sold far more cheaply than present, and AMD needs the sales, lacking Nvidia's rep. But the 6800 family are still great cards, and put serious hurt on Nvidia. This helps to seriously devalue the 16GB 4060TI and 12GB 4070. So Nvidia cannot prop the prices of those cards anywhere near the degree it would wish to.

prices coming down nicely, some Ebay 15-20% promo would be useful now

Ah, but the usual suspects raise their GPU prices by 10-15% BEFORE that discount kicks in.

I think the Asus card with cashback is still cheaper. Overclockers at 349 or 359, depending which way the wind is blowing, £40 cashback, £25 for a review. Would be around £300 total.

I've heard Asus are not reliable for cashback (on here and reddit). I wouldn't trust them after their mobo issues recently either.

Have this card. Light and small fits beautiful in mini itx case. Probably not the most premium but this is an excellent price for the best bang for buck card right now agreed by most tech outlets. (edited)

Which ITX case do you have? Considering getting this for a Densium 4+ but this is 228mm long and the case maximum is 222mm :/

Dunno if I can get away with it
