If you're looking for an original 3060 with 12Gb (rather than the Ti with 8, which can be had for about £30 more), this is one of the few from a decent manufacturer that I've seen below 280 without needing to go through cashback.

TORX FAN 3.0
TORX FAN stands for the ultimate cooling performance. The radiator blades allow a strong airflow and therefore also ideal heat dissipation with a up to 50% higher air pressure than conventional fans.

Heat conduction pads
Thermal pads allow the heat of different board components to be directed directly to the heat sink for better cooling.

AMPERE
The Nvidia Ampere architecture is an evolution of the turning architecture and offers significantly higher data throughput as well as doubling FP32 calculations.

DLSSN
VIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a breakthrough AI rendering technology that increases graphics performance with dedicated Tensor Core AI processors on GeForce RTX GPUs. DLSS uses the power of a neural network for deep learning to increase frame rates and generate beautiful, sharp images for your games.

Those who leave negative comments either come up with an alternative or stay quiet, please. If I need a GPU I have to make a decision comparing the market at the time. Saying not worth more than £200 or it will drop like a brick is not helpful.

I waited 2 years for prices to come down before buying this upgrading from 750ti. I pay Cities Skylines type games and I am very happy with my purchase.

I can understand people saying that this should be £200 as the price has been inflated for ages - I would have personally pay this much for it last year when I built my rig, but in the current market I think it should drop further to be attractive. When It comes to alternatives; 6650xt for 50£ less and slightly more performance for 1080p, 6700 10gb can sometimes be found for 280/290£. If you want to play 1440p, 6700xt costs slightly more for much more performance - dropped to £284 after cashback the other day.

At the end of the day, having waited over 2y for prices to drop to somewhat reasonable, I think holding forever for prices dropping is just pointless. If one can afford the GPU of their choice - buy it, enjoy it and don't look back.

Doesn't exist, no. Only the non TI got 12GB.

Best model of the 3060 variants, in my opinion. Still, around £100 too expensive though.

Yeah, I think this price is still higher than previous 60 series cards would have been, but not by as much as 100.

I think the 1060s were around 220 for the higher VRAM variants, and so anything under 250 I'd be starting to think of as reasonably priced, given how much undiluted fun we've had with inflation for the last couple of years.

Anyway - this is the best we can do right now

The irony is that going forward, the 3060 is going to perform much the same as it always has for longer than the 3060ti and 4060ti will, thanks to it's 12gb ram.

Anyone who bought this at launch is probably sitting quite pretty for a few years as long as they're willing to turn a few effects down.

Lord y'all have lost your mind. This should be like £200 by now. This is *barely* below original MSRP. In 2023.

People seem to have gotten the totally wrong message about Nvidia - it's not just the 40 series. The lack of reduction in prices of the 30 series parts was all part of the same strategy to ensure they could jack prices up for 40 series.

This is still a bad deal. Stop giving in.

How would this be for replacing a GTX1080p GPU?

    Side grade, totally pointless.

An AWFUL card for the price, but more importantly a card whose price will tank once the 4060 launches (around 260 quid).

Unlike AMD, Ngreedia puts out appalling lies about the performance of the new gen, claiming TWICE the performance of the equivalent 3000 series, and Ngreedia fans are so stupid, they believe the dishonest propaganda. BUT this very fact collapses the price of the 3000 card once its 4000 replacement appears, even if the new card has less VRAM.

PS the 3060TI uses a different and FAR better chip than the 3060. The 3060 is just junk in 2023 for anything above 200.
    MaxJenson's avatar
    MaxJenson
I don't see the 4060 being 260 at launch. The 3060 will go out of production way before we would have ever seen an ideal drop to around 150. 3060 will stay around 250-300 for its last few months.

    Question to you all ...

Would this be better than a rx 6650 xt or 6700 xt ..

    I'm currently using a 1660 super gaming X. And I only play Rust at 1080p at 144hz . I'm only interested in 1080p gaming.
I get around 60-70 FPS in rust . I really would like to hit 90-100 fps.
    I play on max settings...

So what is your advise ..

The 6700 XT is a signficantly better card and has been around the same price recently. I wouldn't consider the 6650 XT (or any other 8GB card) at this point personally, but it's faster than the 3060 too.

    50270341-EvdH2.jpg
Really the only thing the 3060 has going for it is the 12GB VRAM. It was always a fairly slow card in terms of raw grunt.

Great card, can play most games at 1440p with decent performance. Ignore doom sayers, many of who haven’t even tested it… (edited)

Big issue is that these will all go out of production before they would have ever hit the 100-150 mark. (edited)

Still expensive! Would more vram give better performance when playing 4k?
    LaurenceGough's avatar
    LaurenceGough
This is not a card made for 4k at all... It's a 1080p card really. If you're playing really low end games it'll work.

Mid end games may work ok too. best to check online. (edited)

I paid around £200 for the 3 fan oc version using a vendor account voucher I had as I wasn't prepared to pay the silly prices at the time for a 3070 or higher. It still performs with decent enough frame rates at 1440p which I now play at and yes it not as powerful as the 3060ti/3070 etc but is definitely a solid 1080p card.
As already mentioned it can achieve decent frames at 1440p but is dependant on the game and/or tweaking some settings if need be.

This has come down another £20 so is currently £259.98. I know there are better value GPUs for gaming but I'm thinking of getting a 3060 12GB for AI use. It's difficult to work out if this is the best budget option for AI or if there are better alternatives so if anyone has any advice on that please let me know!

How much stock of these do people imagine is left? Giving price fixing will and the Normalisation of Crypto cost prices are unlikely to go back down.
I wasnt there for normal prices, bought my first 6600 XT @230 in Jan to play 2016-2022 games at 1440 for a few years. Didnt want to go over £200 and was advised this was good deal. Suppose Buyers Remorse has me checking out the Market 😮‍💨

See I play world of Warcraft and thing like CIV6 and other rts / strategy games and some older RPG like ME and DA . I want to play in 4K as have the monitor and ultra on wow especially . Advice ?
    viliu's avatar
    viliu
wow , 4k ultra in raids? well , you prly want to get 800-1000 for vga. My wife's 2080ti (paired with 5800x/32gb ram) handles it just fine on 3440x1440 but even with that i can see sometimes some unpleasant dips , nothing bad... but you can see it hard working for. Bare in mind , wow in particular is vga intensive but the moment you turn up view distance , ray traced effects and physics and low latency on , it turns in an instant a cpu intensive game. With all that said, ppl doing intensive raids drop their quality settings in favor of fps and low latency , and blizz knew that and added 2 separate settings for raid/game, so this card might be enough for anything than raids.Other strategy games are usually cpu intensive so the card prly will do just fine most of the times. BUT take note , x060 nvidia series was never bound to target 4k gaming, is a mainstream card
ps: as a side note my system 5800x undervlot @4850 all cores/4x8gb@3600.cl14/rtx 3090 tuf oc doesnt brake a sweat , but then again , even with a gamer wife , she still almost poked my eye out for how much i spent on it (edited)
