The free game is not via Steam Code, it uses the AMD app.

Edit : AMD App gives you the game on Steam, but at no point do you get a steam code (edited)

The card probably doesnt have enough VRAM to run the game anyway! how ironic.

Got this delivered today, installed and it has some coil whine, apparently its normal in some cards but thinking to return/exchange...? (edited)

Just be sure not to make my mistake... I thought i had coil whine on a new GPU, but it was actually my PSU whining under the increased watts... have a listen to where its coming from

Edit: Just to add - I had a 300 watt card on a 850watt psu, so it wasn't overloading the PSU, just making it scream (edited)

Be ware of vapour chamber issue with sapphire edition GPUs

Which nobody had on the XT variant, and the issue was identified and fixed some time back on the XTX. Perhaps you'd like to discuss the Nvidia GPUs crashing on The Last of Us, when AMD cards do not- down to faulty Nvidia drivers?

Is 20Gb VRAM enough to run 'The Last of Us' at 1080p high settings?
    ollefrolle's avatar
    ollefrolle
I'm running it on 6700 XT, it uses around 10-11GB VRAM with everything maxed out. Turn a few settings down to medium and it uses like 6GB

Again- this particular card is going to get a lot cheaper across the year, especially when the mid-end price war begins between AMD's 7800XT and Nvidia's 4070. Nvidia and AMD are currently rushing to complete their next gen GPU families, Nvidia having no choice because AMD has to bring forward RDNA 4 in the light of RDNA 3 weakness, so Nvidia needs to prep for this competition sooner than they'd prefer.

Buying now at AMD and Nvidia's peak (non-crypto) pricing is daft, unless you really really need to. And NO- so-called AI will not inflate Nvidia consumer GPU prices- Nvidia has special non-gaming parts coming to soak that market.

The thing is, if you look at the steam hardware survey, AMD cards seem to have next to no market share... why should Nvidia care what AMD do if next to nobody buys their cards?

Edit: Just checked this and AMDs most popular card from the 6000 series is the 6700xt and has just 0.35% market share.

In contrast, the most popular 19 GPUs are all NVidia and the most common 30 series card is the 3060 and has a market share of 10.44%

To put this in perspective, the GTX 960, has a market share of 0.64%... it isn't just a 6000 series problem when 900 series cards are more common than 6000 series cards 9years after their release!

To an elephant, a fly is just a mild irritation, nothing more. (edited)

PC gamers really being taken for a ride. One component costs more than a brand new PS5 and there's not even any guarantee it'll run the titles anyway!

The days of affordable PC gaming for the masses are over. It's now an exclusively rich person's hobby.

And only because of the gpus. Everything else has stayed similar or gotten cheaper. Look at ram and ssds. Normal priced gpus would make it the best time to be a pc gamer. Life just can't be too good sometimes can it. (edited)

Anyone know if the sapphire cards are usually decent? I got a sapphire 5700xt years ago and had to return it as it was DOA, but that may have been an issue with the delivery company rather than the card.

Sapphire are one of the best for AMD cards, this is MBA so really no difference to anyone else offering them as well (edited)

Cheaper to buy a PS5/Xbox and actually run games at 60fps without stutters.

I have all platforms by the way, Series X, PS5 and PC with 6800XT GPU and PC gaming is at its worst ever. Had PCs since my first AMD 1Ghz Athlon Thunderbird CPU build and AGP graphics cards (long long time ago) and now PC gaming is literally just console ports with a sprinkle of glitter.

Spending these numbers on GPUs is just madness. Developers aren’t making native PC games and making the most of them. It’s console ports with shader cache nightmares every time. Ridiculous really. Mainstream gamers can’t afford PCs anymore because of this! 800 quid for ONE component, and even when it’s all done and your £2000 PC is up and runnin, you’re dealing with stuttery messes and lower than expected frame rates.

you don't have to play the console ports - theres plenty other games.

Chalk and cheese to compare the two

Certainly a more tempting prospect than the 4070 Ti, but £700 is really where both cards should be.

Graphics card discussions online always make me laugh. The last time I built my pc, I had people telling me I was overpaying for a GTX980 instead of 970 or whatever. That was in 2015 and that pc has lasted me 8 years mostly daily use, obviously not hardcore ultra gaming (only just been dragged kicking and screaming to upgrade to Windows 10 by win 8 throwing a tantrum lol) but the graphics are still plenty good for me. When you factor in the cost over the 8 years, it's pennies.

I'm finally upgrading to a Ryzen 7800X3D with 7900 xtx graphics card. As long as that lasts me at least 5 years or so, il be happy.

20gb vram should keep you going for the next year at least. At this rate.. maybe year and a half tops.

Yeah just waiting to see what the 7800xt and nvidia 4700 have to offer I'm sticking with my 5700xt for just a little while longer. Was just faced with a full am5 ryzen build or go on with my current build and because my am4 build was so good I decided to buy a 5900x to replace my 3900x and get another couple of years out of the expensive parts as the 3900x was still a very fast cpu and I couldn't resist a 5900x for £270 the other day, I doubt there's anything to touch it.

Maybe previous gen prices will drop a little but not drastic. The 4000 series Nvidia cards are built on TMC 3nm process. The wafer cost is double compared to what it was in 2018/2019 and 30% than 5nm. I completely agree that the prices are crazy, maybe it will take another year for the cost to drop, then we should start seeing lower prices. (edited)

Both AMD and nVidia dropped the ball with high pricing and hardware issues. My 3080 will have to last until end of the year.
