Similar to the Pulse deal from 2 weeks ago, except £30 less. PowerColor and Sapphire are considered the best AMD GPU brands by most and this is PowerColor's mid-grade model, analogous to Sapphire's Pulse.

310mm long so fits most cases and only requires 2x 8-pin connectors unlike some other 6800 (XT) cards. As far as I can tell, this is the best bang-for-buck card in this performance bracket currently (around the same as the 6800 @ £430), excluding the XFX cards which are mildly dodgy IMO since they're sold by an Amazon third party seller only.

---------------------------

PowerColor Red Dragon RX 6800 XT features the same new cooling-fan design as PowerColor Red Devil RX6800XT with 2X 100mm and 1X 90mm triple fans to enhance the airflow and air pressure for keeping the card in the best cooling condition. Besides, Red Dragon RX 6800 XT equips Dual BIOS, stylish back plate, and shiny LED light. You will have upgraded gaming experiences with the new Red Dragon RX 6800 XT.

PowerColor Red Dragon AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 XT is armed with a new triple fan design, 310mm cooler with 7X6Fheatpipes, and a large copper base improves heat transfer and dissipation from the GPU and the VRAMs providing highly efficient heat dissipation solution. And it is also equipped with a 12+2 phase VRM with DrMOS, high quality polymer capacitors, and two 8-pin PCI-E connectors for implementing better performance.

The cooling fan utilizes two-ball bearing technology, increasing the longevity of the fans by up to 4 times. Mute Fan Technology intelligently turns off the fan below 60?, providing silent gaming during medium and low load while reducing power consumption. Compared with previous generation, PowerColor Red Dragon RX 6800 XT Graphics Card uses an exclusive new cooling-fan design to increases airflow and air pressure by up to 60%, achieving new level of thermal performance. Red Dragon RX6800XT equips with 7X6F copper heatpipes and an enlarged heatsink surface for providing lower temperature but better performance. The vertical design and increased array of aluminum fins improves heat spread dramatically. With a massive array of fins, the copper heatpipes can collect heat and dissipate it with maximum efficiency. A smooth copper base directly contacts the GPU to enhance exceptional heat transfer, and improves heat dissipation from the VRAMs to keep the card in the optimum cooling condition.

Choose the mode based on you need. Switching to OC Mode allows you push the limit of the card; Switching to Silent Mode provides excellent quiet gaming experience. The metal back plate is extremely rigid to strengthen the card to prevent PCB bending, and the hollow area allows heat release promptly to enhance airflow. For all the players. Every game. Every frame. Built on revolutionary AMD RDNA™ 2 architecture. AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 Series graphics cards deliver ultra-high frame rates and serious 4K gameplay. Get the ultimate gaming experience with powerful new compute units, groundbreaking AMD Infinity Cache, and up to 16GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory. And, when paired with an AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series desktop processor, AMD Smart Access Memory technology offers new levels of gaming performance.

Great card, runs really cool, nothing seems to tax it except uncapped frame rates. There is some coil whine at 100% speed.

It drives two ultrawide monitors, one WQHD 3440 x 1440 at 144Hz and the other 2560x1080 75Hz, paired with a Ryzen 5900X.

On the WQHD I get about 400fps on CSGO and that where you can hear the coil whine, however I do limit the fps to the monitors 144Hz refresh rate and that eliminates the whine and brings down the power usage to 90W instead of 250W.

Again great card, however, the 6950XT has been below £600 recently and I would reccomend that instead if its within your budget.

I was put off the 6950 XT by the 335W power budget, not sure my PSU can handle it. It's about 15% faster though, so £600 would be similar perf/£.

Yes this is a 4070 except about £70 cheaper and with 4 GiB more VRAM, but no DLSS 3 and poorer ray tracing performance. Given the 3070's ray tracing abilities are rendered useless by its 8 GiB VRAM, I don't think the 4070's advantages will last very long.

I'm an Nvidia user with a 3070 and been looking to upgrade recently....can anyone comment on how well FSR compares to DLSS as the latter has worked wonders for me, thanks in advance

FSR 2 is nearly as good as DLSS 2 but less commonly supported. A 6800 XT would not be an upgrade for you, consider a 6950/7900 XT or RTX 4080, or wait.

The 6950 XT is about 15-20% faster, so an extra £65 isn't bad for the performance bump. They do use a fair bit more power to get there, although that can be mitigated via undervolting.
