I've just flagged it up with a moderator and been advised:

"The deal was removed due to self promotion."

Doesn't make any sense and when asked to double check I was told:

"We can't share specifics of moderation for other members so we couldn't discuss/comment further."

I suspect this gets raised a lot when these Chinese phones get hot on here, but I’m assuming buyers realise their personal data is being feed back to China:

    forbes.com/sit…se/

I realise a response would be ‘well Google and Apple’ do the same. Whilst that may be true (but seemingly in a more policed manner according to their publicised data privacy policies), you have to consider which organisation/country is more likely to use your data nefariously in the worst case scenario. For example Apple and Google are likely to use it for economic reasons come rain or shine. Should the Ukraine war ever involve China and things got ugly….good luck to those with Chinese phones. (edited)
    ecuador's avatar
If I lived in China (or the Ukraine I guess?) I would indeed be more worried about Chinese actors having my data. As it is now, Meta and Google are probably much worse in how they can affect me as I am part of the western world. Apple is less data driven so far compared to those two (probably because they enjoy crazy margins with their devices, app store etc) - and I say that while I use an Android phone

That said, I personally have accepted that I am tracked in multiple ways as a cost of using phones/internet/etc...

Isn't the Poco f3 at 240 a better deal though?

    That old brick?! Noo
  12. HotDealAlert's avatar
Why is this better than the redmi 12 on the other deal? Apart from the 5G (which is not useful for some) and having 6GB ram instead of 4GB.

I have this phone and honestly it's brilliant. The only thing I hate is when it's cold out the screen response is sometimes questionable.
For the camera here's a photo of my dog, it's portrait mode on the camera.
Battery life is alright for a budget phone, mine lasts 6-8 hours heavy use but will recharge within 20/30mins. If your using maps + streaming it's about 5/6 hours without charge.
I have zero lag playing games on the device.
For this price too it's a bargain, I paid +£20 about 4 months ago.

Any idea where the O2 £199 deal thread for the same device has gone? It's vanished!
    brwzrr's avatar
No idea why that's vanished - last I saw on it people were buying them in o2 stores for £199 + £10 sim card. I did the same, bought it yesterday and using it now!

    108MP phone camera LoL

    4.5x my DSLR
    Dyslexic_Dog's avatar
Yes, but I bet the lense is no where near comparable.
  16. AMJensen's avatar
No micro SD support and only 128GB storage is quite limiting imo especially as you won't actually have 128GB available to you it will probably be more like 115GB
    morty's avatar
    It's closer to 105gb.

Most people store using cloud services now meaning thy do not require large storage and the space they do have will be for some games.

It is poor why they keep doing this not offering hybrid support for msd when a lot of the cheaper models have it.
  17. djp2k8's avatar
I thought ooh, not a bad price for a new 5G phone for myself (still on 4G phone), but it turns out it's worse than my X3 Pro from 2 years ago! A miss from me on this
    Crossbow's avatar
Not wise to compare a Pro phone to a Lite phone I suppose, even some years on. My Huawei P30 Pro 4G from 4 years ago is better than this in most respects, especially in the key areas.

I'm still using a Xiaomi Mi A1 I got in July of 2018, after 3 months it stopped connection to any computer regardless of computer or cable used so having to transfer files remotely. The screen illumination has faded, half way on the brightness bar was blinding even outside but now I have to use maximum when outside or the screens too dim. Battery used to last 24hours between charges with occasional use, would say it's half that now.

I do have a blackview BV9900 Pro i have yet to transfer to but not got round to it, fun using the thermal camera on it.

173g. Phone's don't come much lighter now days.
  24. yeababyyea's avatar
I haven't noticed on reviews only having 128gb memory and no sd card support that's only been the issues but apart from that all positive
    innocent's avatar
You also didn't mention 6gb ram, it should have preferrably 8gb. (edited)

I am in the market for something new. I bought the Poco X4 last November after having the X3 and I don't like it at all. Build quality is great and it's a visually pleasing phone but it's laggy and the camera isn't great. I've been using my X3 this week while on hols as a main camera and a WiFi hotspot and it's miles above the X4. Anyway, if this had a bigger screen id have gone for it
  32. blackdogman's avatar
I had the note 10 and loved it but their is no proximity sensor so it's useless as a phone. Great screen and camera, but it failed at the main point of a mobile phone. Does anyone know if this has a sensor?
    LaurenceGough's avatar
"Xiaomi 12 Lite uses an AI Virtual Proximity Sensor from Elliptic Labs, the same that many (unfortunately) criticize."

So another phone to avoid! They are useless and don't work at all.

Just out of curiosity, Would you guys take this or an iPhone 12?
    brwzrr's avatar
This all day long. I have an iPhone 13 and I'm moving everything off today over to this phone. Apple phones are nice in terms of hardware but I'm sick of iOS. Wish I bought an android originally instead of switching to Apple for the past year.
  38. TomT's avatar
Anyone know how to get in-band ringtones working on this ?
This is to allow the phones ringtone to be played via the car..

    Thanks
