For a touch screen model, £226 delivered is a pretty good price for the overall spec here. This one does have a backlit keyboard, which I know most folks would want. For this price Use code - 7390DELL30

Make sure you choose the correct one though as there's a non backlit version on the same page.

I’ve been using one at work and honestly it’s pretty much perfect. My spec is slightly better but it’s really portable, rugged, the screen is bright I think 500nits the keyboard is miles better than on the new latitudes, has usb c so can be docked, and the battery lasts a full day. I did replace my battery as it had reached the end of its life but that’s a consumable part and nothing to stress about. Battery was about £50 but can be found cheaper… just don’t complain the battery swelled if you buy non genuine. Never seen the thermal issue but surely that would mean it does not work at all and you just return it?

Just read about the lack of thermal paste on the CPU, overheating and swelling batteries. Definitely a real issue on these units. I think I may have just bought myself a dud! The screen size was the selling point for me but I think I should have done a bit more research before taking the plunge. I think I may return this laptop once received.

Since they refurbished by the manufacter I would expect them to come repasted or at least checked if there is need to do so.

We had these at work and have had lots of Thermal issues (lack of thermal paste)
also watch out for the Batteries 7390/7490 (They tend to swell up)

A friend of mine's company had the same issue with a batch of XPS 13's, no paste on the cpu! They'd stay up for a maximum of 5 minutes, then shut down due to overheating.

Maybe Dell can't afford paste these days. . . (edited)

Perfect size at 13.3 inches. This is how laptops should be - Portable and lightweight. Easy to carry when navigating through trains and airports. Although could have been a sweeter deal at 13 inches screen. Bought and heated.

Perfect size would be 15.6". Ideal for navigating the world when carried in a laptop bag.

Great Brand and can always rely on Dell to deliver! Also I do never understand the appeal for touchscreens on laptops particularly those that can’t fold all the way. It adds weight and more often makes your arm tired from navigating awkwardly on the screen. Though I’m sure some people like the touchscreen for other reasons too. (edited)

It's convenient when being used on the sofa or in bed casually. It doesn't add any perceivable weight to this system either. It's a nice option to have and can be more precise when navigating websites.

Yes, one can swap the 8Gb with a 16Gb (max) module - has only a single slot.

We have a couple of these still kicking at work, seemingly way more reliable than the newer latitude models we have, only single slot memory so probably get the 16gb model the 8th gen holds up pretty well, future proofed for win 11 too.

People buying blindly because "dElL iS a GrEaT bRaNd", you are a marketers dream, however the specs look good, but the issues highlighted are certainly a problem to take note off.

But Dell are a great brand and typically I've had very few issues with any of their products. And on occasions where I have, their service has been good. It's not "buying blindly" if you've had repeated good products or service from a company. Yes it does seem this model has had issues but I still don't get your sarcasm. (edited)

Actually, thinking of sending this back - it seems everytime i turn it on theres a new issue - Slow wifi, updates freezing, no sound unless I plug it into power.
I assumed there maybe a few issues setting up a new system but it seems like constantly something to fix when you just want to open the laptop and do something quick .

Sounds like you have a Friday afternoon build!
Mine's perfect, just started it, loaded Office, and it's worked without issue every time I've used it. Just back from Starbucks after waiting for my wife for an hour or so and I've used it the whole time... (edited)
