These are actual Zen 3 chips if anyone is wondering, with Vega 8 graphics on the 5825U and Vega 7 on the 5625U. They're more than good enough for desktop tasks, I even have a Ryzen 4500U laptop with Vega 6 that I can use Photoshop on, but I'd say the gaming especially going forward will be very limited as the vega graphics were already a wee bit long in the tooth when I got mine in 2020.

They can kick out esports titles and games like GTA V and the like though.

was a big fan of Dell for years until i bought a 17" from them last year. the touchpad is rubbish... failed after several months. got it replaced and it's still rubbish. cursor jumps all over the place so now have to permanently connect a mouse to it. it's put me off Dell permanently or at least until someone proves their touchpads have improved (which, admittedly, might have happened). just check out the reviews on Dell chatboards.

I've come across far too many complaints from customers to bother with them (same with Asus).

I'm pretty sure when I was looking at reviews for the 16" a lot of them said they sounded like the were about to take off when the fan kicked in... which was often when it was doing nothing apparently.

Need to play round with the options to get best price (similar to Lenovo shop). I got Ryzen 5 for £479 cheapest. The only problem I have is that I can't get a better screen. I wouldn't really consider anything below 300 nits. For this reason I am out but good luck, as the dragon would say. (edited)

    Dell Inspiron 16 laptop 16", FHD+ WVA 250nits/Ryzen 7 5825U /16GB/512GB £549

Spec wise identical, just larger screen.

I currently have an Inspiron 15, the fan has failed, batteries gone after 2.5 years.

Previously had a Samsung laptop which ran for almost 9 years until it started to slow and batteries went. Tempting price but my experience with Dell Inspiron isn't good. (edited)

Similar experience to me, I had an Inspiron from 2013-15 with those issues. Switched to a MacBook Pro which is still solid after 8 years!

The processor looks OK, 16Gb of RAM is good and the 512Gb hard drive is OK. The only thing that seems to be missing is an Ethernet port, however if you use Wifi this won't be an issue.
