£3 Film Tickets Cineworld IMAX Film Fest Saturday 22nd April 2023

What is the Cineworld IMAX Film Fest?

The Cineworld IMAX Film Fest is a one-day event playing exclusively at Cineworld IMAX cinemas nationwide. Pay only £3 for a completely mind-blowing experience. (€3 in Cineworld Dublin.)

IMAX's unique aspect ratio (1.90:1 versus anamorphic widescreen's 2.39:1) expands the cinematic environment to craft a truly overwhelming experience. This is further enhanced by a pin-sharp remastering process and dual projection, which cumulatively imbues greater levels of warmth and sharpness into the picture. Combine this perfectly tuned and integrated surround sound, and IMAX promises to take your Cineworld visit to the next level.

What movies are showing as part of Cineworld IMAX Film Fest 2023?

Avatar: The Way of Water

The shimmering, aquamarine qualities of James Cameron's world-conquering Avatar sequel are tailor-made for IMAX's expansive approach. Prepare to be taken underwater with the Metkayina tribe and be introduced to breathtaking new corners of the planet Pandora. The majesty of the movie is resplendent in IMAX detail both big and small, from the light playing across the underwater environments to the physical heft of the whale-like Tulkun.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

The Daniels' multi-Oscar-winning triumph takes on new dimensions of character and wonder when witnessed in IMAX. Don't miss your chance to journey with Michelle Yeoh's Evelyn across the multiverse in IMAX, as this humorous, spirited and ultimately moving adventure unspools the challenging mother-daughter relationship that threatens all of existence.

Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise's high-flying Top Gun sequel is a triumph of physical action, character beats and exhilarating scale. The movie's IMAX presentation does full justice to the now-famous flight sequences, lending added scope and depth to every aerial maneuver and bypass. Prepare to hang onto your seat (or your wingman, if you're coming with one).

The Batman

Matt Reeves' Batman reboot (showing at the majority of Cineworld IMAX sites) commands the attention with its arrestingly dark, crime-ridden depiction of Gotham City, as it takes inspiration from the classic likes of Blade Runner. Step into Gotham via the medium of IMAX and be fully immersed in the canvas of Batman's adventure, as Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight goes to war with Paul Dano's Riddler.

Ponniyin Selvan: Part One

This is the first instalment of a two-part Tamil-language epic that dramatises the early life of Chola prince Arunmozhi Varman, who would become the renowned emperor Rajaraja I (947–1014). Viewers looking to be immersed in the rich history of the Indian subcontinent will find their experience augmented by the IMAX presentation, which truly does justice to the sweep of the story. This is also your chance to see the first installment again before the second part arrives at Cineworld on April 28th.

Ponniyin Selvan: Part One is playing at Cineworld Birmingham Broad Street, Cineworld Belfast, Cineworld Dublin, Cineworld Edinburgh and Cineworld Watford.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is such a bad movie
I managed to last until about half way through before I couldn't watch anymore
Not sure why all the press and film critics rave on about it, it's terrible.

This offer is hot though, just don't waste your cheap tickets on that movie, choose one of the others, they're all much better!!

It's a good film but I don't think it's any where near deserving of being called a masterpiece that so many do. To say its bad though is a bit much

is Everything Everywhere All At Once really worth seeing on a IMAX screen? I have not seen it yet, but just wondered if I should just wait until I can watch it at home.

I can see a film like Maverick would be worth seeing in IMAX.

Yes great film took me 30 minutes to get into it but amazing
  8. chimpee's avatar
Avatar looked drop dead stunning, superb

But Batman didnt work in IMAX, it was very close up and claustrophobic (i appreciate it was meant to be so, but it didnt suit a massive screen with lots of massive lingering shots of peoples faces). (edited)

It's a shame most cineworld IMAX aren't true IMAX

Am I allow to take a 6 years old and a 10 years old to watch Avatar?
    missslc's avatar
Yes as it's a 12a. They say it's advisable only for children over 12 years old but a 12a is at the parents' discretion for younger children 😃

Hi, from one cineworld employee.. please keep it clean. It means a lot. Thanks

I really used to love the cinema, as my dad was a projectionist back in the 70’s and 80’s. Always saw the newest films first as he used to have to test out the film before showing it.
saw Star Wars early one morning.. not knowing just how brilliant it was going to be.
but… modern films…just don’t have any passion for most of what they put on.
Maverick was the last one that actually looked like it belonged on the big screen.
never like Avatar.. I think I am just an old fuddy duddy

Only logged in to completely agree with you. I saw the first Avatar at an Imax in 3D and wanted to walk out after 30 minutes and never watched a film in 3D again. I just don't think film makers understand cinema these days. They make big screen films for big screen TV's. Maverick was a stand out as was Fury Road (2D). Never seen any of these superhero films but they seem dull anyway going by the trailers. Bring back stuff like Suspiria and Jaws or The Sound Of Music. I used to go to the cinema 3 times a week, now it's probably 3 times a year and that's just for old showings. The reason cinema is dying is because films aren't made for the cinema anymore.

Any reviews about batman movie ?? Good to watch with kids...??

It’s a brilliant movie but maybe not with the kids lol

Heat! I saw Avengers Endgame at Leicester Square when they did this in 2020. Was a really great screen and well worth going to. Unbeknown it was my last cinema trip before lockdown!
  15. Hoyy's avatar
Where can I see more information about this? Can't find anything about the 2023 one online.
  16. bigmac69's avatar
I used to watch a lot of movies in 3D at the cinema so have a good selection of the glasses !
11 years ago I bought a 3D tv and they threw in clip on 3D glasses as I wear glasses and they are brilliant. Have downloaded about 70 3D movies and documentaries and love the format. Will be going to my local Cineworld to see Avatar as it's not available for download in 3D yet. So thanks OP.

Love you are still flying the flag for 3D movies at home. Always felt it was ahead of it's time. I bought a great Panasonic 3D TV but never really use the 3D much. Tempted to dig out a blu ray although I fear the PS5 has taken the 3D playback feature away.

Avatar over 3hrs long.....how do they expect kids to sit there that long and watch a movie these days when they have such a short attention span?! That's why the Mario Movie is only 'short' relative to most movies these days at about 1.5hrs
    solid's avatar
My goodness, you want to start doing something about their short attention span, friend

They'll have many exams that will require long attention, as well as projects and other things in their lives

Do them a favour and help them strengthen their attention span, rather than trying to change everything

(Or, don't take the kids to something they can't sit through, and let others who are able to!)

Their payment system wasn't working for me. Ended up buying an email voucher instead and using that as payment. Still a hell of a lot cheaper than any other IMAX showing, let's just hope they can keep the lights on for the next week.
