Bought a similar thing but single slot. Slotted in an old HDD and plugged it into the back of my router. Cheap way of getting some network attached storage.

Use it for backing up files from my PC and storing movies/tv shows that I want to watch on the media player in my living room.

This also works as a stable extra USB mounted storage to a Synology NAS.

Handy if you are backing up to external drives as part of your data back up.

you can use the Synology DS USB copy program. Simply drop the hard drive in this and the program will detect the drive, copy the task data you have assigned to that drive, and eject the drive when done.

Had a Fideco for a good few years and always works without issue. Shame this one does not have the additional USB slots at the front so you can daisy chain drives or the SD card mounts. Still a good buy though. Heat (edited)

Got this for around the same price a couple of years back. Good bit of kit. Seems to transfer at decent speeds (although not tested).
As noted above, you can clone drives without a PC, although I’ve not tested this.

The deal mentions 16gb - is this for each drive slot or is it a combined total i.e 8 +8 (edited)

I have a similar thing made by Sabrent. The hard drive cloning facility is worth it's weight in gold. Makes swapping a spinning HDD for a SSD a breeze.

This is a really good piece of kit. Allows you to copy drives without the use of a PC.

I bought this to replace a failed WD mybook which had 2 hard drives for backup purposes. The drives copied each other. I took the hard drives out and put them in here. The mybook encrypted the data, so the drives needed to be reformatted after I removed them but once I put themin here they worked with no problems.

I use this the same way - to back up - using software to syncronize data from other drives

I cant remember what was on the drives. Hopefully nothing valuable, but as they were a backup drive I can always replace the data that was lost. (edited)
