    If I order this now,
Can I start using after a few weeks?
Get my full 30 days (edited)
    EvilN1972's avatar
I'm pretty sure your 30 days doesn't start until you've registered your sim on your account

I have an EE and Three SIM in my phone. Over the last year or two the Three network has improved noticeably to the extent that on many occasions Three have been stronger than EE. I have also seen 1300Mbit download on Three last time was in London, faster than I have ever seen on EE.

Best deal going for unlimited everything, but there is good reason, the Three signal is often rubbish.

But you can stick this Sim in a 4G router, and use it as your household broadband. But just make sure you have a strong Three signal in your area first.

When I had this, I often had to switch to 3G as it got a better signal and faster speeds than 4G, so with 3G being turned off soon, you will be stuck with 4G.
    Danakl's avatar
Or stick it in a 5G phone and tether it to a router for faster speeds (if near a tower).

It’s not 5G. It plainly only mentions 4G and 3G. Cold.
    DennisL's avatar
Not true. Scroll down the page and it says 5G is available with compatible devices.

Stupid question but I get 4g at my house and not 5g yet doesn't this still work for me?
    Danakl's avatar
Yes, in 4G areas it gets 4G connection.

I use smarty for my phone and router, I have unlimited for my 4g router and works superbly, get around average 50mbps which is fantastic, before I was with sky who only had speeds of 9mbps for years for me, smarty is also alot cheaper. I can't get fibre where I live unless you have virgin which is truly unreliable and basically crooks, so the max speed I could get was 10mbps. To sum it up Smarty is great on the outskirts of grimsby where I live!
    AfterAGoodDeal's avatar
Never found GRIMsby an attractive place to live but you make it sound a lot more appealing now.

I'm using this exact deal in my 5g router 49992589-Go0F3.jpg (edited)

Could you recommend some 5g routers?
  8. Shwoopdoop's avatar
Got the same plan. It definitely includes 5G.

I'm currently on Three with unlimited data for about £15/month, but this goes up by CPI annually. I was tempted by this to lock in the price with Smarty's 'no annual price rises' promise, but there's just one snag, hidden in the T's&C's:

Consumers accessing the SMARTY website via promotion page hosted by an
authorized affiliate of SMARTY (“Affiliate”) can purchase the current SMARTY
1-month Unlimited Plan (“Eligible Plan”) for £16 (“Promotional Price”) and
benefit from the Promotional Price for up to their first 12 continuous months on
    the Eligible Plan (the “Promotion”)
    .

    So much for that.
    Danakl's avatar
That bothered me too. But the £16pm has continued past the 12 months. I joined in Feb 2022 and it now says I have 9 months remaining on the £16pm promotion. I guess it just rolls over.

I'm buying a house that doesn't have fibre. So options are 10Mbps copper line or 4G/5G. Expecting to move in a few weeks.

The only network that has 5G in the area is EE, so I was planning to go with them, despite them being a bit pricier (can get unlimited for around £23 per month after discounts). Obviously 5G speeds will be much better but then I read that even though it's advertised as unlimited it's actually capped at 600GB! How is that even allowed on an "unlimited" plan??

Anyone here have experience of EE and the 600GB limit? Has it been a problem for you?
    Metalhead33's avatar
I'd sail over 600GB in a week....that's not unlimited to me. From what i've read elsewhere all EE do once you hit 600GB is slow you down by removing 5G access and ONLY if the mast you're using is congested.

So effectively only £4 with TopCashback if used only for 1 month? Or is there a minimum number of months the connection needed to be active to be eligible for TopCashback?
    Animal5865's avatar
Be about 2 months that (edited)

Is it easy to Port number from Three to Smarty and back again , to do the PAC dance, since Three have raised their prices to £24 pm for all unlimited?

My contract ends next month so have to undergo this rigmarole.
    hecatae's avatar
Yes it is just stay clear of the bank holidays as ports can be delayed because of them
  14. Joshfount's avatar
Good price for unlimited data, especially as only 30 day contract, as long as Three data works for you ♨️
  15. mwalke36's avatar
Word of warning. Smarty's customer service is non existent. Much like Lyca mobile, which I'll also be avoiding in the future.
  16. JamesCruncher's avatar
Got this last when it was £15 as I'm waiting for broadband installation and there is no hotspot limit so I have all house up and running on that with proper 5G router, found spot to reach over 500Mb/s, really good backup line
  17. Metalhead33's avatar
There seems to be no FUP on Smarty and i've sailed over 2TB on several occasions. I use my sim in a 5g spare phone and the speeds are great. Not so great (in my location) on 4G however.
  18. Ahsaf's avatar
I'd mobile use the three network and I've found some new deals.

Imma try one of their Sims and compare in the router

I still do have £15 per month their Unlimited SIM - awesome download but sucks upload speed in my area. (edited)
    yeababyyea's avatar
Most 5g towers put out high 5g downloads but uploads are still stuck on 4g I've seen a tho feeds about it on Google when I enquired etc (edited)

    Shame this plan isn’t 5G
  21. Danakl's avatar
Smarty’s speeds can be improved by disabling the adult content filter in the dashboard.  The filter is a bit of a bottleneck.
    keloid's avatar
cant tell if this is a joke or not
  22. hashim0786's avatar
I ordered this but says sim activated even tho I haven't got the sim? Why is this? Expected del 2 says for the sim appa
  23. Jonathan_Murray's avatar
Has anyone tried changing their existing Smarty plan to this one - I am on their 30 gig plan and want to upgrade to the unlimited for £16 - but only for a month as vodafone have screwed me on my fibre broadband and disconnected me early with my new provider not starting until 17th May!!!!
    Danakl's avatar
If you change, it could be hard to change back. Their promotions are for new users usually.  For what you want it may be better to just buy a 30 day unlimited data add-on, which is £17.
  24. Danakl's avatar
5G only works with compatible phones - if not compatible it will be 4G.

list of phones known to be compatible here: help.smarty.co.uk/en/…-5g
