Love it or hate the Disney franchise, you cant help ignore most kids love all things disney (and secretly, many adults do to including me)

The 'free' dining offer is back, albeit with dining vouchers rather than actual dining.

So for £4050, 2 adults and 2 children can stay at the Disney All stars sports resort with 2 weeks tickets to all the parks, a $700 dining voucher and a $200 gift card.

This offer does not include flights, because flights vary massively when and where you fly from and I am finding it hard to book flights that far ahead. But black friday and jan sales might be a good time to get some cheaper flights.

The great thing is this is also available in the Summer holidays 2024. No pulling the kids off school during school time. Yep, i do that - naughty daddy ;-)

The second half of August is apparently one of the quietest times in Disney world as well, although super hot at 33 degrees if you like these temps.

OK, £4k is still alot of money, but All holidays in the school holidays are just horribly expensive, even haven caravans in the Uk are £1k plus for one week so in comparison, its 'reasonable'. Alton towers for example for one day for 2 adults and 2 children is £160 so two weeks of theme parks in Orland Walt Disney world doesnt seem as bad

I have never been, never been able to afford it, but with only £200 deposit, bit the bullet. Worry about paying it off next year.

Hope this helps someone plan their next year summer holidays and I am using mine for a Xmas pressie for my kiddies.

You get a cute little personalised letter from Mickey when you book as well to give to your family.

What's the daily food bill like at DisneyWorld, kids under 5 and 2 big meals a day?
    Slim2k's avatar
Depending on how much you want to eat on the go vs sit-down meals and snacks, you'll smash through the $700 in the first couple of days.

That being said if you have a car to eat off-property / eating takeaway back at the room because of early nights putting the kids down. It'll last a little longer.

There’s nothing wrong with pulling the kids out of school.. the craziness and stigma attached to this in UK is unbelievable. I’d rather them have a good time overall and don’t fuss about them missing few classes which can be covered anyways at home. As because of the prices for holidays these days it’s really tough to take them out anywhere.
    Good deal though..(y) (edited)

My wife was a primary school teacher and says no problem taking kids out of school the last week of term as they play games etc anyway. She said the first week back of the new year is important as it's a new teacher, new pupils etc.

Ahh didn’t realise this doesn’t include flights! I thought it was too good to be true.

A few things to add on

    £2000ish for flights
£2-3000 for spending money, here’s some things that can eat away at your spending money:
    - you can easily spend £3-500 on a meal at the deluxe/character restaurants
    - quick service (a la McDonalds style) meal easily £50
    - Genie+ would be £60 per day
    - individual rides (queue skip) £60 per ride
    - light sabre making £3-500 (if you want more than one as you’re taking two kids)
    - droid making I think was about £100

Disney is very (VERY) expensive, and would recommend you take a look on YT and channels like DFB, AllEars and Mammoth Club for hints and tips. Also, August is crazy hot. Remember those few days we had last year that were 40°? Now imagine doing 20,000 steps around a theme park in that

If you plan to fly with Virgin, take a look at their credit card to earn flights and points, to ease the burden of those costs. (edited)

Some good hints and tips there.

I wont be doing any posh meals for example or characters dining . A phot with one in the park will be just as special and free, wont be doing any skipping queues, nor light saber making, and no droid making. I am going full on budget!

These things are just Disney upsells (and how they make a lot more money) so will avoid all that (although im sure they are great and make the hol extra special)) but im not spending any money on stuff like that. Ice water, quick dining and just rides, and some quality time with kiddies. (edited)

    Seems about normal to me

Off the top of my head,

    Budget £2-£2.5k for flights
    £1,250 if doing universal
£1,000 if doing discovery cove with dolphins and SeaWorld
£800 or so if wanting a car (not necessary on this deal)

For those worried about the cost of food we did 10 nights on site at Disney and had $1080 ish dining/gift cards and it lasted us 9 days including one character breakfast buffet. That's for 2 adults and an 11 year old. Kids meals are a great size and come with a drink, adult meals can be shared, some snacks can be big enough for a breakfast or lunch.

We are HUGE Disney fans, have been a few times by taking the kids out of school. From experience, August is horribly hot. It is unbearable at times, the humidity is high and most kids will hardly be able to tolerate it. If you can go other times of year, I personally would avoid July to October. I understand this is a great price but we have been at this price before in Feb, May and Nov. Lots of searching online, look at Tui and Disneyworld online. I hope this helps

Good price if you can get decent flights. We made the $500 dining card last us almost the full 2 weeks last year

What would be considered a decent price for flights in August?

How old should your children be to enjoy the most? I was thinking of 14 year old.

Isn't two weeks a little bit too much?

    Thanks for the replies

I wouldn’t fancy a 10+ hour flight for a week with kids, two weeks would be fine with some pool days in the middle for a break. I feel with Disney, it’s for all ages, from toddlers to grand parents and everything in between! There is no ‘perfect age’, it literally has something for everyone

Far too expansive for me also. I have bene wanting to take my kids since they could walk, and now there teenagers, still cant afford it. WDW were always holidays on how the other half lived where money is no object ( hearing comment from other parents like 'I go every year' absolutely baffled me), i can still barely afford a Haven carvan holiday. However, with only £50 pp (£200 toal) deposit, and a whole year to save up, thought i would go for it.
If i quit drinking beer, eating junk food and stop ordering takeaways for a year and do some actually saving up (as money burns a whole though my pockets), think i might (a very small might) jsut be able to afford it ;-) (edited)

So had a route around on some disney blogging sites and they have cfound this
"When you combine 2 adult entrees and 2 kids’ meals – plus four fountain drinks – it will cost a family of four about $50 – $60 to eat at a Disney Quick Service restaurant. The cost jumps to $60 if two people order desserts."
Here is the link to all things eating at disneyworld

So family of 4 with flights and park tickets for circa £7k during school holidays. That looks pretty good to me.. Park tickets alone usually about £2k and hotel/accommodation £5/6k for 3 star. The comments on food prices above are scarring me though

It’s a sign of the current financial climate, but I booked a similar holiday (at a deluxe resort) in 2018 for about the same price and that included the dining plan (valued around £1800 IIRC). This is a pretty good deal for now, as my 2018 holiday is now £14k! This hotel is quite far away from the parks, but they’ve add the sky liner which will make things much much easier.

Hi, Yes, Ive looked well into the busiest and quiet times. The first 2 week weeks of August is crazyily busy, but the second hald (hence i booked the 20th) is one of the quietest times at WDW whihc is handy for us in the UK. I think, Americasn have different hols to us??

Its mainly in August for some reason the cheapest ones. I have gone though lots of monhts, and although might be alittle chepaer out of school term, its not a huge saving considering its in August Summer school holidasy
  18. Franchesca.Sdoyle's avatar
No way I would go in August. Far too hot
  19. hawk299's avatar
We've been in Aug many times, easily manageable (temp)

I've not looked but normally when Disney says kids they mean under 10's - don't know if that changes this offer for ones with "bigger" kids
  20. Blobman's avatar
Does this have to be a certain date in August its coming up £7k for me?

Much appreciated if someone can help with the following queries please?
    1. Are there any exclusions when it comes to park entry/rides? I had a look and can't find this.
    2. Can I have a refund if I pay the deposit now and can't find good flights?
    3. how long do you usually need to queue for the rides?
    TIA
    leigh321's avatar
Have a read on here, www.thedibb.co.uk. So much info about booking a trip to disney. In repsonse to your questions,
    1. There are height restrictions for some of the rides and there are rules regarding the type of t-shirt you wear in the parks.
    2. Have a read of the T&C - usually if cancelled you would loose your deposit.
    3. Queues depend on the time of year you visit, time of day you go to the park, there are additional perks you can purchased like Genie+ which are designed to help with queue times.
