What sort of performance difference you looking at between the 5800h/3070 and the 6800h/3070ti?

sadly not that simple. as lots of manufacturers arent powering the graphics cards in gamjng laptops equally, so you could have a 3060 with more powerful tgp/mgp higher than a 3080. this also goes for the 40x0 series now aswell.......hard to say if some 40x0 laptops can even be classed as 'gaming' now.
2ndly the 5800 is 3 years old, and the 6800h is last years but the 6800 will also use ddr5 memory.

so real homework needs to be done when comparing.

Anyone spending over 1k on a laptop with that kind of limitation (300 nit) wants their head examining

Seems like you’re probably better off paying a little more for this as it’s current Gen for the CPU and GPU:

Yes, that is limited to a closed group - rewards store. For the public store it's almost £1400 and you still have no OS.

I have this model bout for 1200 at Currys. Its a fab laptop 3070 runs at 135w fast powerful built to last highly recommended.

    Absolutely agree

300 nits for over 1k makes it not worth it imo. Pay 1k for decent performance and then output that performance onto a rubbish screen, defies logic.

How can you find out the tgp of your GPU?

Was £699 on 15th of April this year. pricespy.co.uk/com…829

Not worth £1k in my opinion.

While I'd agree that paying 1k+ for last gen GPU laptops is a bit rich, where exactly was this £699?

This laptop is a beast, everything oozes quality build. Lucked out and got mine for £800 from CEX basically brand new with a new battery + 2 year warranty. The IPS 300Nits screen is plenty of brightness for me during the day. Or hook it up to a 240hz monitor with 1ms, or 4K 120hz. The new Advanced Optimus update is pretty spectacular. Stunner of a laptop. Find a deal for £700-£800 for your penny’s worth (edited)

You are right about the quality, I have one too after buying a different brand in a sale last year for £700 which was not only lower specs but also felt and looked cheap. Sent it back and hunted one of these for the best price I could. You got a bargain (I havent seen it that cheap anywhere) and you recognize you have. I bought mine for VR gaming when away from home to use with a tethered headset, now bought a standalone headset so no longer need the Legion but will not be selling it for the silly money people are talking about.
People talking about last gen is one thing but then search for next gen with specs like this and you are paying a lot more, and I searched and looked for about 2 months last year before I bought this.
If anybody is seeing a better laptop for this price or less please feel free to post your find. (edited)

This or the Acer Nitro 5 3070 Ti (150W MGP) (edited)

Personally I don't like Acer due to an experience with bad hinges on a previous laptop and they refused to take any responsibility. Don't think I will ever buy Acer again though they did come up in online comparisons for my budget last year. (edited)
