It seems the only way to get a decent signal if you have a modern car is to have an external aerial as the wire in the heated screens screws up the reception

Fortunately my car is sufficiently naff/old not to have a heated windscreen so I'm hoping this will do the trick!

Worth a go. Seems about £20 cheaper than other listings for new I could see on places like ebay, and obviously coming from Amazon it's easy enough to return if it doesn't work out. (edited)

Don't bother with this unless you're gonna hardwire it using aux.
Pointless having DAB and then degrading the signal via FM as it'll sound pants.

I have 2 cars with these in and my son has one in his too. They work great through the radio. I did have to reroute my dash cam on one car though because it completely killed the signal running the cables down the same A pillar.
I’d recommend the 600 over the 400 though  (edited)

had the 200 highway worked really well until about month ago then started cutting out a lot going into/out of local town, some cut outs near traffic lights so thats to do with traffic light signaling ?, others cut outs in various places, got the 400 highway this one cuts out even more
feels to me as if the signal strength has changed as now cuts out in regular spots on my usual routes

I'm really struggling to know whether these are any good or not! I done loads of research on the web and that reflected pretty much what has been said on here. I would say the slight majority of people say its brilliant, others that it's useless!
I guess it depends on the signal where you live. I'll soon find out when mine is delivered I suppose. Either way as its from Amazon it's easily returned if its not fit for purpose. (edited)

Any idea if this has a built in microphone for bluetooth calls? From the info I can find, only the highway 600 has an attached microphone, just wanted to confirm.

I believe only the 600 has hands free calling

DAB is pretty pointless in cars due to the useless signal in most parts of the country, find myself listening to FM more than DAB

I've found it has become essentially useless driving around Leeds and West Yorkshire. Both factory fitted dab radios in my two different honda models continuously cut out now. Somebody suggested it might be the 5g signal interfering. It definitely gets blitzed at very specific points on certain journeys I make.

Anyone know if I can turn my heating down with this?

Hey Siri/Google Play LBC, BBC Radio 1 etc... this is redundant.

Your phone streams everything from live radio to Apple music and is your Sat Nav.. spend the money in hardwiring a decent phone mount with wireless charging.. if you have Apple get a magsafe charging mount. (edited)

Tried a wireless charger and the phone gets very hot, and the iPhone stopped charging with a warning. Made worse by having the sun on it at times. Back to wired it was.

Anyone know if this could be used at home to link to Bluetooth speaker
    ashyt16turbo's avatar
Not sure why you'd want to do that instead of buying a normal DAB radio which often come with Bluetooth? (edited)

These are terrible don’t waste your money. The one i had just dropped signal every time you drove past a lorry or a set of trees

Not sure it would be a waste of money as it could just go back to Amazon if its pony.....a waste of time setting it up maybe! (edited)

I have DAB in my car at the moment but the signal is really bad and often it can't find stations. Would this be better at picking up the stations?

Could be that you live in a hilly area with low population, so coverage is thin. I'm in the South East and get flawless reception of the main muxes (BBC, LBC etc) everywhere. The DSL mux with Boom, TalkTV etc is a little patchy but perfect on the motorway. And this with a low risk £30 Aldi sourced adapter (Bauhn brand) where I just put the tiny antenna in a corner of the windscreen and didn't even earth it.

In my car already fitted with DAB i find i generally only listen to what i can already get on FM. There is no difference in sound quality between the two in my opinion, so i wouldn't spend the extra on this if i didn’t have DAB. (edited)

Depends what you listen to. Some stations are only on DAB eg Times Radio, LBC, Talk Radio, GB News, BBC World Service.

Why wouldn't you just use your phone for internet radio and connect via Bluetooth?

That's what I'm currently doing but it obviously uses data and battery. It also feels a bit clunky compared to a dedicated device but I understand your point.
