  • This is the M1 Max Mac Studio...a beast of a machine at an absolute steal of a price. The next best price (new) I can find is Costco for £1799.00. Yes, it's been replaced by the M2 version but from what I've seen, the improvements are negligible. Grab a bargain now!

Blows my mind Argos even stock this, whos buying high end hardware from argos...

Wish they stocked more as i hate currys and its nice to have a bricks and mortar store for big purchases

I would love Argos to take down Currys. I’ve never come across customer service, rudeness, total disregard of sales law, incompetence, nor the ability to wind me up like Currys do.

I’ve been burned way too many times by them. The last being a Bissell carpet washer that broke down after a couple of months. Brought it back to store with the box, and all the staff agreed it’s nothing to do with them and gave me the number for Bissell. After back and fourth they said to leave it with them and they’ll contact Bissell, but would probably take 60 days to receive my referb.

I left it with them, and 30 minutes later got a call from Currys asking me to collect the item and call Bissell myself because they can’t get through. I vowed from that point, even for a bargain of the decade, they aren’t having another penny from me.

As you can tell, my experience with that place cuts deep. (edited)

The M1 Ultra model seems to be a bargain too.
It used to be £3,999 and now it's £2,999.
    Saving £1,000!

But I still prefer and am after the M2 Ultra model...

KRCS is the cheapest place ive found for Apple stuff.

Must resist!! But So tempted!! - but, as a power user (architect- cad rendering) I’m waiting until these mX do raytracing - which they don’t currently do with my software (twinmotion) so still using my hackintosh…

2% on airtime rewards with Argos too - probably Quidco too - worth a check! (edited)

It’s getting on A bit now (built in 2017)and not worth updating as it’s time is now coming to an end …but - skylake 6700 i7, 32gb, vega56 8gb.
I know as soon as I buy one the next version will come out and include raytracing support (there’s been talk about it in A series for iphones - so will hold out) (edited)

All the storage and RAM related queries have been discussed here hotukdeals.com/dea…818

Basically, both storage and RAM are soldered in which means if anything goes wrong; you will loose lot of data. Its better (even though not that cheap) to get external SSD (40GBps transfer) rather then buying a mac studio with higher storage.

32 GB is plenty for RAM, unless you are planning to use it for VM/Docker in which case I would buy something more workstation / server based solution.

With very fast interfaces then surely extrrnal storage is what most people want for ease of moving data later? This us especially true if the disk is soldered on. The last time I filled my internal storage was the time I petmanently moved my 'Data' that I want to an external USB3 SSD. This is fast enough for my generic data snd when necessary can be moved onto faster internal storage.

I procrastinated too much. Everywhere else is £1800+
    deleted531767's avatar
Unless you have never shopped at Very and can get the 20% off their £1899 price. So £1523.19 including postage.

I'm not that impressed with it compared to my upgraded 2012 Macbook pro which has 2TB of SSD storage and 16GB of ram. A lot of the spinning beach ball when upgrading software on the Mac Studio. I will have to use a few external SSD's with it. (edited)

Currys have agreed to price match this for me as I qualify for the 12 months interest free finance already (only 6 months with Argos).

Is it just me or does the pic outside Sainsbury’s look like a photoshop

(Not suggesting it is, but something about it makes it look fake to my brain).

In typical Apply fashion they have failed to put any useful ports on the front of the machine. The USB-C ports on the front aren't even thunderbolt. Everyone in my office has them the wrong way.
    Ultima2876's avatar
That’s cause they want you to buy the better version right?
  11. Maratain's avatar
Recieved mine today and they shipped it without any protective packaging, big postage sticker on the Studio box, and box is dirty and damaged, never buying any expensive stuff from Argos again.

amazon have started doing this too. Expensive lens was the latest thing for me.

Cheers! Couldn't believe it when I saw it. Been wanting one for a while and at this price, it would be crazy not to!

Great price. I missed the Apple refurb price last week (too much dithering) and this is even better!

I've been keeping an eye on the refurb store but they don't seem to be showing up. Had a feeling the retailers would try and clear their stock with some crazy deals and then Argos came along and did this!

A seriously tempting offer, looking to replace my 2019 iMac 27" as Intel days are numbered as regards MacOS support, but would also need to buy a display, is anything as good as the Studio Display for image quality (I do Graphic Design)?
    gabesdad's avatar
I know there’s a Samsung model that’s said to be comparable for much less.

    rtings.com/mon….10

VA not IPS, with Pros and cons for each. Much less cost outlay. Probably something you’d want to see in action really to judge performance relative to your needs. (edited)

It is a great shame that Argos, curry’s and everyone else only sell the base model of any Mac or iPhone. In this case it is the Mac Studio with the smallest 512 Gb SSD. I would recommend a 1Tb or larger model, which would also be faster. Unfortunately you wouldn’t get any discount for the the 1 Tb model which would normally only cost £200 more.
    RaiKush's avatar
32GB ram and 512GB is pretty much a flex for the average user.

Managed to order via Currys with the price match code I got yesterday.

Will sign up for Applecare as usual on collection as it's been worth it for me in the past.

Same here. Glad I got it matched as Argos looks to be sold out. Arrives tomorrow. Can’t wait!

You can get an excellent 1Tb ssd for £50. Surely just upgrade?
    djeyewater's avatar
You can't add internal storage to these. External will work, but thunderbolt NVMe enclosures aren't cheap.
  24. mooooof's avatar
Not a bad price considering the Mac mini with m2 pro starts from £1399 with less ram

through my workplace I get 6% off with vouchers, takes an extra £90 off. Very tempting  (edited)

I'm considering getting the Amex Nectar card. Buying one of these to get the triple points. I will easily spend £500+ on the card over the first 3 months to get the other 20,000 intro offer poins.

I did look at buying Argos vouchers via employment scheme at 5% off, but they don't accept Amex for payment, so no use to me as I have to spend £2k in the first 3 months to get the extra Nectar points.

I know there are other offers to get cashback etc. Is there a better way to do this to maximise return using an Amex Nectar to pay? (edited)
    svs242's avatar
I was thinking of doing the same. Buying work 6% vouchers. But they don’t accept AMEX. Plan B is use my Lloyds credit card which they do accept and that is also a cashback credit card too. Not as much as AMEX but will be some cashback (edited)

It seems horrendously overpriced for a made in China internet radio, does it have a dedicated graphics card built in ? (edited)

It has an FM ariel. And might be better built than your Spectrum 48k. (edited)

Get it from Very for £1523.19
  29. SunnyAllTheTime's avatar
anywhere else to get this at a good price
    deleted531767's avatar
Yep. Very if you have never used them, and are smart about your payment method.

20% off first order if you sign up to their Very Pay credit thing.

You're better to pay on a cashback or points card.

You have to pay via Paypal on Very to use Amex as Very don't accept Amex on their site.

I paid £1523.19, but will get £15.23 back in Nectar points from my Amex Nectar card. Plus this purchase gets me close to my £2000 spend in the first 3 months to get another £100 of Nectar points, I only got the card new on Saturday. (edited)
