Yeah I'd never buy from them again after they cancelled ebay orders of the 7800x3d because they forgot to increase the price prior to the 15% voucher becoming active. They claimed they couldn't find stock, yet it was relisted half an hour later at £50 more they sent me a 32GB USB stick as an apology....

Was considering upgrading my 12700k which is a lga1700 socket this would fit on the board with a bios update.

The 12700k is running 5ghz and temps running ok but I know the 13000k needs more power and produces more heat.

But I'm thinking I'll wait until later in the year to get the 14th gen when it's released as it is a refresh and will still support the same socket.

Either that or just throw the system up in the air and get a new mobo with 7800x3d.

I would like more processing power as run flight simulator in vr with a 4090.

    Decisions decisions.

7800X3D ticks every box. Much better power efficiency and gaming performance, particularly in Flight Simulator. Definitely worth the £53 more over the 13700K. You'd then have to get a ~£200 AM5 motherboard as well of course, but that then enables easy potential upgrades to Zen 5 and 6 further down the line. Considering you have a 4090 and VR, I'd imagine you'd be okay making a relatively modest investment to get the best out of your setup for years to come

Surely people only buy Intel today out of outdated, ill-informed habit. This is an EIGHT core processor. The so-called e-cores are better called e-waste cores with massive amounts of functionality missing, including key machine instructions. AMD has new C cores ending Intel in the server space, but the 'c' stands for compact, and they share IDENTICAL functionality with the original zen4 cores.

Intel told us AVX-512 was the future, then removed this functionality from all new chips because they couldn't get it to work properly, across THREE generations. AMD offers AVX-512 with zero excessive power over-head. Intel's 'best' gaming chips run fast only because they use incredible amounts of energy per core- I thought the World was supposed to be 'green'? Time to break the Intel habit, guys.

Is this better than an oc'd 2500k?

Rank 5th in the world comparing with rank 456th.. so yes.. 16core/24 threads vs 4 cores 4 threads. Significantly better.

The price difference between this and the i5 means that it is difficult to justify buying the i5.

14th Gen soon. I would wait for that to decide. 14th Gen i5 might be as good as 13th Gen i7.
