The 6.6l Gourmia from Costco regularly goes very hot at a similar price even though it is almost 1 litre smaller and has 1 years less warranty (not forgetting buying from Costco involves you paying a subscription to do so!)

I have the Ninja AF160, which I paid £100 for from John Lewis about 2 years ago. My mum has the one from Costco, which costs about £45. Having used both, I would say they both work well, timings wise, I notice very little difference between the two. Quality is comparable, and I would say the Costco one does not feel cheap. Save money and go for the cheaper one.

Anyone tried combining deep frying and air frying, say deep fry for 2 or 3 mins then air fry. Would this reduce oil take up, but cook fries better?

Deep frying anything completely negates the point of using an air fryer.

Decent price for a large basket air fryer

What are these cheaper large air fryers like? If you can afford it, is it better to spend the money on something like a Ninja?

Do these air fryers use a lot of electricity?

Not sure if they are worth buying but they seem to be very popular (edited)

They are far cheaper to run than a conventional oven unless you have a lot of stuff to cook, for instance 2 or 3 large pizzas, in this scenario the oven would be cheaper.

But if you aren't cooking a large amount of food then the speed with which these air fryers cook is key to the savings. For instance in the pre air fryer days if we had a spag bol we would put the garlic baguette in our oven, pre heat for 4-5 mins then cook for a further 10/11 mins!

Makes me shudder to think about it now. Now the garlic baguette gets done in the air fryer and is ready after 5 mins with no pre heating! (edited)

I purchase an instant vortex air fryer recently from John Lewis. I hadn’t heard of instant vortex previously so I was cautious. However I can honestly say it’s amazing … considering I’ve had an original Philips air fryer for the last 10 years I wasn’t expecting a huge difference but the vortex smashes it out the park. Granted it’s a different model but the build quality and silent operation I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this if I needed it

I've got an instant vortex (single tray) and it's great. I got it based on a Which review and it certainly hit the spot. Great size too.
