    ...
Just thought I'd add this info, to reassure people that the vast majority of the phones ordered from Ali Express come through with no issues or customs fees added (from my own experience) and this has been no different.
Amazing savings and great deal OP!

Use code BTS32 at the checkout and pay with a good foreign exchange rate card, like Halifax clarity.

You can get this as low as £230 ish.

Pay after delivery or straight away?

How is the software on these? I need to get a phone for my elderly mother, who is easily confused by tech. She just needs to use WhatsApp, check email, and have a simple camera experience. Any quirks or bloat to be aware of? I was thinking Pixel or even iPhone might be best due to simplicity, especially iPhone's face unlock.
    olops's avatar
I have the F3 and there is quite a lot of bloatware but you can mostly get rid /avoid. We haven't managed to solve the 'smartphone for elderly Mum' problem however. You'd think there was enough of a market for manufacturers to address. This F5 is probably overkill for elderly Mums though! There are plenty of cheaper, lower spec'd Xioamis, etc. which would do the job nearly as well. Only issue might be camera quality. (edited)

Xiaomi phones are unmatchable. Cracking phones.
  6. vassy4u's avatar
Bought twice from this seller. Never been hit by customs. Once it was mentioned as Bluetooth speaker and the other time it was a cheap Xiaomi phone

Received mine today via royal mail exactly 2 weeks after placing order from poco official store.

No customs charges. paid in USD equivalent to £246

Is global version the one that will work in the UK when buying xiaomi phones from aliexpress?

I'm currently looking at the xiaomi note 12 pro+ here:

    aliexpress.com/ite…1.0

is this the correct version to work in the uk and will an EU plug+adapter still allow fast charging? Thanks
    G_dilla's avatar
It should be, just double check the info on what network bands it has and avoid any that say "global ROM" as they will use the Chinese variant and simply flash the global ROM on it, but that doesn't change the actual hardware itself

How long can we expect the delivery to be? It is written that is is a "feature brand / shipped within 72 hours" but also that the estimated delivery is on "06 October, item ships within 30 days"...
    jujuzeez's avatar
doesn't matter. will arrive in under seven days. check the tracking segment after purchase. AliExpress deliveries are superfast nowadays

Would it be a big upgrade from the Poco f3?
    Zek's avatar
That's what I have atm, not huge upgrade but CPU and GPU are better, 50% better score overall. Other smaller things like bigger battery, faster charging, better camera.
Edit: Not sure if I have worked it out correctly anyway antutu scores are 631,000 for F3 and 931,000 for F5. F6 is going to be reported around 1,200,000. It's a test of the whole phone I think but CPU and GPU probably push the scores up the most. (edited)

Use same code pay in dollars use fee free card I used Curve came to 240 and they even shipped it today via Netherlands so likely no tax. (edited)

Has anyone had any trouble with connecting to Android Auto or their PC with this phone (or the pro version)? Seen on some forums people having issues with it.

My F4 does have issues with AA in some cars. (edited)

how long did the delivery take? Many thanks
    herby247's avatar
I'd set a "real" expectation of 18 days minimum before it arrives.
    ...
They usually get bulk shipped to the Netherlands, and processed from there to UK and Europe.
For us it goes via Heathrow for customs check then onto Royal Mail.

If you download the Royal Mail app, you can save the Ali Express tracking number they provide and you'll get tracking status updates as it progresses, (the updates can be slow) but least you get eyes on it's progress.

    Same, lol
    ...
Can't resist a bargain sometimes though!
When you think the UK launch on this was £400+, granted it can be had off Xiaomi UK cheaper with codes, next day delivery and a UK plug.
But your talking about a couple of hundred pounds cheaper in some of these cases, the Ali Express route is a no brainier for savings! (edited)

Wondering if you would ever need 12gb ram...my Poco f2 pro uses about 4-5gb out of 8gb
    yeahbutitsnotfree's avatar
Mines 6gb and never really noticed any noticeable problems. I'm guessing people want something capable of mobile gaming etc. I've noticed that gaming phones aren't a thing anymore so that would explain some of these newer and more capable phones.
  19. Yuksel's avatar
How long does it take to arrive ?
    Percy247's avatar
Mine was slow. Just after launch it took the best part of a month to arrive.
  20. Hutchyy's avatar
Bought from a similar deal a couple of months ago and arrived with no customs. Happy with everything apart from the battery life which is a bit disappointing, but at least it charges fast
    hcc27's avatar
How bad is the battery life if I may ask? That sure is a bummer.

Does this have OIS? or not? UPDATE apparently it does, any one with one got any thoughts on the camera quality.. My last Poco was terrible. Currently using a Xoami Note 8 Pro but requires steady hands for good shots. (edited)

Most chinese and east asian brands cater to the sensibilities of the area so the portraits come out looking awful compared to a decent pixel

which makes sense because that's what the market demands for them. if you want to take good selfies stick with a pixel or an iphone
  26. KingOfCaledonia's avatar
Anyone know if this comes with a UK plug?

So tempted by this, was watching the sales on the mi store as well, but it hasn't been as cheap as this. Really don't need it as I have a 12T Pro which is excellent, but this is close and I think it would look/feel better as its lighter, slimmer and flatter... but I really don't need it...🤪
    bantuBantu's avatar
This would be a downgrade from a 12T pro.

I'm looking at getting a larger phone for a change and fancied a galaxy s21 ultra ( refurbished ) would this Poco be on par with the s21 ultra as it looks good spec , obviously missing wireless charging compared to the s21. :/
    olops's avatar
We've just gone down the refurb path for the first time. I wanted to get her a new Xioami rather than risk a 'refurb' but daughter is used to her Mum's discarded Samsung so just ordered her an S21 for £280. Hopefully, she'll get a better camera but sacrifice some battery life and everything else that she deems important will be fine.

I'm going to get the F5 to upgrade my F3 but from the UK store when it gets cheaper. Not in any rush. Hoping low light photos will be better on the F5 - that and the lack of a headphone socket are my main gripes.
  32. soggs's avatar
Very tempted by one of these, but in truth there is nothing wrong with my Redmi Note 10 Pro to be honest!!

Do these phones ship with a film screen protector fitted and a case included?
    jingo2000's avatar
They normally come with a screen protector fitted, its not one the of glass tempered ones just a film, and yes they normally come with a silicone clear case in the box

Anyone else getting This code can't be used in combination with other offers?

    Any work around?
    spuggy1502's avatar
yes , tried the other codes as well to no avail.

    is delivery really until october.

This is a great deal, I got the non-pro version of the phone as far as I saw it was mainly just 2GB less RAM. Anyway, it has a micro SD card slot, I was sick of paying apple each month so I made the switch. Quite like it actually. On the Xiomi website I paid £232 with free delivery for the below, I also got the AirPod style headphones which I really like. They behave just like airpods

    POCO X5 5G Black 6 GB + 128 GB

    £229 X 1 = £229

    Redmi Buds 4 Pro White

    £42.99 X 1 = £42.99

    Subtotal: £271.99

    Shipping: £0

    Total: £231.99

The X5G can currently be had for £169

  40. spuggy1502's avatar
So is this worth an upgrade from a pixel 5 and a s10. Does it have all that bloatware rubbish and can you get rid of it if so. How long does delivery take.
    Animal5865's avatar
I've got a F4 it's great and you can uninstall 99% of bloatware.
