Additional warranty can be claimed on this to make it total of 5 years now..1 standard + 4 years from Epson..need to register within 30 days after purchase.

Hi, just after getting a ET-2810, they have just sent a years warranty on registration, I thought you got 5 years warranty, but when I look into it, it seems you have to pay for the other 4 years, is this correct??
Would be Grateful for any advice as got this direct from Amazon on 24.11.23., and registered on Epson site to claim back the £30.00 promotion, which was paid within a week into my bank. But totally unsure about 5 year warranty, but I thought I had seen it somewhere that 5 year warranty was Free??

I've been after an ecotank model
I received an alert from pricerunner for that website yesterday saverstore.co.uk/product/epson-ecotank-et-2810
Does anyone have an experience with that seller? (edited)

Maximum print speed (colour)5 ppm and 100 sheet paper tray. Seems like you would be waiting ages for prints and having to refill quite often. You would need to look at how much printing you actually do, if it is not a lot then this is going to have limited benefits. If you do a lot of printing then the printer itself is limited!

Very tempted, but this doesn’t appear to support AirPrint, so you have to use the Epson iOS app to print I expect. Not ideal. The ET-2820 seems to be the first model that supports AirPrint directly.
For those who have the 2810 model, do you need to use the Epson app to print, or can you ‘share’ documents from any app to the Epson app to print? In other words, how much of a ballache is not having AirPrint? (edited)

I have one of these machines and have to say it is very easy to print a photo from your iPhone library using the Epson app.

I can’t recommend Epson Eco Tank printers enough. We do a fair amount of printing and are still using the same ink it came with. We’ve had it 4 years! Saved an absolute fortune in rip off print cartridges. (edited)

Be mindful before you purchase one of these as its liquid based ink they can only be repaired at a service centres.

I paid for the Cover plus warranty on one of these

I live in Birmingham the 2nd largest city in the UK and Epson have ZERO repair centres.

Nearest one is in Worcester it's a 50 mile round trip and they do not do same day repair so that's 100 miles to get a printer repaired in the second largest city in the UK,

    EPSON YOU ARE A JOKE!

If you have reached the maximum print counter, you can reset most Epson printers waste ink counters (WIC) yourself using either a free trial online which resets it to 80% or pay for a key approximately £10. You can then change the wic foam pads by buying a replacement online from Amazon / eBay depending on the model between £15-25 and most videos are online in YouTube to show you how to change it. Saves you from sending it away and being charged for the repair

I have just done this for my Epson xp-720 after 8 years. WIC counter is 3000 pages (edited)

Does this actually last up to three years with one fill of ink, just sick of paying hp for their "smart" ink. Only for school kids work ect no heavy printing.
    harmageddon's avatar
Obviously it will depend upon how much you print, but I was always buying ink cartridges every 6 months or so. In 2020 bought an ecotank 4500. 3.5 years later my black has 50% left and the colours are approx 75% left. That's been my experience and I've saved a ton not buying cartridges although the printer was a lot more in the first place. Plus the ink refills are relatively cheap. (edited)

How does this fare if it does not get used all that often? My biggest issue with inkjet printers is for most of my printing black is fine and the colour cartriges sit for weeks on end sometimes longer and when I do need to use them then it's always a case of nursing the ink cartriges back into life and if this does not work binning them and fitting fresh ones.

Personally I think down the line this printer will be troublesome especially with infrequent use, It will likely run a head cleaning cycle with every use and in this model it's sponge is not replaceable (That and duplex printing is why I went with the 2850). The good thing is that ink is so cheap respective to cartridge inkjets you can print off a page or two once a week to keep the head clean.

I've got the 2600 and had it going strong for many years and use it daily for business use. It prints high quality photos using epson matte photo paper flawlessly. I only ever change the ink on rare occasions and use genuine inks, as they work out cheap enough in packs of 4
  9. mufatlal's avatar
Had the 2500 for years, used for printing school work all the time, no issues except cleaning the heads every 6 months or so via the app. Liquid lasts long and is the most economical printer I’ve ever owned.

Paid £120 after Epsom Cashback deal from memory. Recommended to many people who have had a the same positive experience.

Hope this newer model is as good as the 2500.

    Hope this helps

Looking at the 2814 from printer land or the previous generation refurbished from Epson also posted on here.
Rather buy anywhere else but Amazon.

I rarely print, sometimes once a month. How likely am I going to get problems with not printing every week?
Read online if you don't print regularly then the ink dries up.

I've got 7 months left on my HP balance I got 3 years ago from a cashback deal on here. So don't really need another printer for 7 months.
    frieqs's avatar
I use mine about once a month and haven’t had any problems a year or so in.

I bought an ecotank printer a while back. Cost about £350. It printed 300 or so A4 sheets before it stopped printing. I don't print that often but gradually print quality reduce to nothing. Tried cleaning heads using the various method it offered but printing never recovered. Even bought a special cleaning kit. Worked out at £1 per print. Total waste of money. All the ink tanks were still full. I bought a £35 Hp printer instead. Works a treat.

Out of interest, did you always leave the Epson plugged in at the wall?

I've never been a fan of Epson, but since I've moved to an ink tank printer, I've not gone back. This is very cheap for an ink tank printer too.
  14. vulcanproject's avatar
I have a 2850 because if the duplexing. This is the same thing minus that function. Good printers. Just follow the rules of inkjets all the same. You must use it every week or so or it'll have head clogging problems.
    Nicklearse's avatar
No they don't. I've had an ET-2720 ecotank for years now and it can sit there for weeks and be fine. (edited)

I have this same model and its brilliant to make mugs with.

I've had one of the eco tank printers about 4 years so all the way through printing school stuff through COVID... I have only needed to buy another set of ink once and I still have over half of that left! I print regularly super cheap Epson ink!!
  17. AlinDan_Campan's avatar
Which is the best printer to buy , hopefully a laser one
    LD2DVD's avatar
Had a laser before getting the 3750 and honestly think the Eco Tank is cheaper to run. Printed 100 pages double sided and didn't notice the ink going down.
  18. DaveJones82's avatar
Recent Amazon reviews have put me off purchasing. Seems it's very difficult and troublesome when connecting to WiFi. If it was just a couple of reviews I'd give it a try, but it's 4 or 5 with the same issues
    LD2DVD's avatar
I have had a 3850 for around 4 years and had no issues with wi-fi. Actually expected issues but none. Thing with wi-fi, is some people have issues and some don't.
  19. gimmeabargain's avatar
Anyone know if you can print from an iPhone direct to this printer?
    greenant's avatar
Don’t think so. Have to go up in the ecotank range for that feature.
  20. LD2DVD's avatar
Yep, just did it. Nice edge to edge print albeit on standard paper.

This is a good price although got my 3750 on warehouse deals in 2020 for £144. One of the best bargains ever but I'd say I was lucky. For photos I still use my Canon Inkjet despite the cost of prints as I want best quality. Like the look of ecotank Photo prints but well over £500. (edited)

Was tempted by this as I'm looking for a printer that'll be the most cost effective now there's around 1K pages a month being printed at home. Currently using an HP that I bought in January using the 700 pages per month of free instant ink but the additional pages aren't cheap. Looking at Epson, they offer a similar service, ReadyPrint for Eco Tank.
At this rate I'll probably be better buying a laser printer
  22. jim1066's avatar
FYI - Currently at 9pm today this printer is still on offer at £129.99 and in stock.

    Question pls
How many ink cartridges I should get?
The reason I am asking is that I only got the additional ink cartridges and no ink inside.
So if we order the 3 year ink do we lose the standard ink that should come with the printer
Or do they send the printer without any ink if you bought the printer only
Hope so.eone help me to understand what i should expect to find in the box
    Nayprob's avatar
Theres 4 bottles one of each in with printer
  24. jrah1's avatar
I got the ET4750 2 years ago (it’s been superseded by the 4850) and it’s a game changer. I used to get endlessly furious at a succession of Canon cartridge printers which were expensive, highly temperamental and seemed to use more ink through cleaning than printing. I’ve filled this thing up once and have on occasion hammered it with large docs. The whole family prints to it and it just works. No fuss. I think it’s got the same basic technology as the 2810 but with more whistles and bells. It’s not the same machine, but I’ve had an excellent experience with my (albeit more expensive) model.
