Epson Ecotank M1100 Mono Printer - up to 5000 pages of Ink £86.59 @ Amazon
Posted 28th MayPosted 28th May
Its a black and white printer, very good vaalue if you print a lot

Your talking crap the only place I have seen Konica Minolta being used in the schools are in the admin department. Most classrooms use laser printers their cheaper to run end of! and maybe next time you get your head checked at the local hospital pay attention and you'll find a large proportion of the printers they are using are HP laser printers.

You've definitely paid attention to printers. A popular brand they use is Konica Minolta printers which are inkjets. A laserjet produces heat and gases which cannot be used. Clearly you have not seen or used one of those printers. The printers on hotukdeals are home printers which are not suitable for high volume printing. High end inkjets are quite fast and your reasoning is not necessarily true for places like them. So your assumption is bs as you have not seen any

What a load of rubbish their is no way inkjet would be economical for schools, office or hospital. All three mainly print in mono and in large quantities hence their preferred choice is Laser. Schools may be tempted to use a colour inkjet ecotank in an Art department where colour laser printers are usually expensive to run but for everyday use they will always go for laser printers as the costs are more economical and they can cope with the demand put on them. Another reason schools are less likely to go for inkjet as well is the summer holidays where printers would not be used for 6 weeks possibly leading to clogging.

Can't see schools using inkjet too slow and not economical enough for them. When I was in 6th Form (joined onto a large secondary with 1500 students) they had about 25 laser prints through out the school mainly Mono ones due to cheap running costs that was back in 2011, I cant see much changing since then. Could see the colour ecotank printers possibly being cost effective in a schools Art department though as I remember the colour laser printers back then costing a fortune to run.

Yeah our printer in work is laser a3 and costs leas than half a penny per page. This is more for home users surely.

So wheres the "unlimited" about that ?

I think at this price range a colour laser would be a better choice

Costco had it a while back, £129. I returned it unopened due to lack of features, particularly only manual two sided printing. All printers should have automatic duplex by now. Also many reviews suggest it is hard to connect to WiFi so if you are not tech. savvy, be aware. Look it up for yourself before you pay this amount then decide.

What's the difference between et2710 and 2720, just iprint and gcloud option?

Just bought today from currys ebay clearance. There's a 10% off code on ebay, and its 8 quid cheaper for new open box. paid £137! They have a few damaged/open box too. still get warranty too.

Worth noting this model is compatible with ReadyPrint Flex , which is like the HP Instant Ink system. 30 pages a month 1.29, 50 pages a month 1.99 100 pages a month 3.49 Includes a 3 months free trial

Thanks...I will (y) 😁

just search ebay for 'printhead magic nozzle cleaner' and see if there is one compatible for your printer. Mine cost £5.25 and is worth every penny.

Not heard of these unblocking kits before...I'll have a look...I tried to unblock an old printer head once by submerging it in in a water/ipa solution ...was no joy. I'll have a look for what you are talking about. I wish the printer would just automatically do a to print from time to time to keep the ink flowing. I think I've got to the bottom of my current woes though... There was some dried ink on the remanufactured cartridge gold contacts...sprayed it with contact cleaner and gave it a wipe...just one nozzle short of a perfect print now ...will do it again. I think I wasted a lot of ink chasing the wrong problem...doh!

Epson Expression Home XP-4105 3-in-1 Wireless Inkjet Printer White. Currently the cheapest and also has good reviews.

Should be fine, it supports either WiFi or smartphone direct printing.

Will this printer work with a Chromebook?

Ordered mine on Thursday evening arrived on Saturday! Result. Nice little printer for the money.

If you are worried about cartridge costs, you might want to look into Epson's ecotank models?

With Epson, you can buy compatibles and use them without any problem. I have a much older model the Epson XP 405 and after the inks supplied with the printer when first purchased became empty, I have used compatibles ever since.

At the time of posting IT WASN'T in stock at Hughes or Box. The cheapest IN STOCK was ARGOS. That's why it's been voted hot, checked also against pricespy. Now in stock at Hughes, but don't know how much they charge for delivery under £ some people might still prefere Argos, for some pennies more,as they have also stores to go for complaining or returns etc..(of course after lockdown will be ended). Here we go cheaper for you:

Ink cost is really putting me off this. Cheapest I can find is £25 -

Why is this hot? It’s £49.99 on lots of sites according to Pricerunner. Even £44.99 at a couple.

Link takes me to Epson 29XL multipack but the XP-3100 takes the 603 ink (starfish design) and a full set costs between £20-£30

Just tried from the Android Epson iPrint app. Worked flawlessly to be fair.

Try a scan, be interested in hearing whether you can get it working.

I've not printed a huge amount from it yet, however I did try to print an A4 photograph. It printed about 60% and then decided it'd had enough, spitting the partial print out. I've not attempted to scan anything yet though. What I also find disappointing is that through Android, you can't just fire a queue of documents off to be printed. You have to send them separately and have to wait for each print to complete before sending the next. Painful! I may be joining you down the refund route at this rate!

Anyone else finding this printer a bit crap? Printing from Windows 10 seems fine, from a Mac it just doesn't want to work at all, can't get it working from an IOS device either, my old Epson SX535WD just worked. Can't get the scanner to work at all either be it via USB or Network, can't even find confirmation scanning should work wirelessly. I've asked for a refund.

Got ours today. Set up was straight forward, not too difficult . Printed a few sheets and seems good so far.

If you print regularly, or even just print something every few weeks it should stop nozzles clogging up. This would be the case with almost any inkjet.

Is an ink jet printer like this likely to get clogged nozzles,I often see that said about Inkjet printers?

Mine has arrived intact!! Phew sorry to see that carnage ;(

Oh man that sucks!!! Surprised that is how it was packed if they sell printers as part of their business. Shocking. Hope you managed to get it replaced! Hopefully others get theirs in better shape!

Mine arrived with the cyan ink leaked all over ;( The printer was really badly packed in a box too large with no packing around it, great bargain if yours arrive intact, sadly I've had to open a return.

Thanks OP bought this yesterday and very happy with it so far, took about half hour to unpack, install and set up, I was in the market for printer anyway and the lure of free Epson Original ink for 2 years swing the deal, the ink refill bottles supplied contain 65mls each which is just more than required to fill the tanks including initial charging. They are each the equivalent of 4-5 compatible cartridges I was using before and Epson state somewhere that they should last you around 6 months with average use which seems about right meaning I will benefit from 3 to 4 sets of free refills using this offer potentially saving around £120+ on original quality ink.

The treasury might need a load of these to print bank notes since they can’t lower interest rates any further. (y)

krazykush Great deal for this one right now!

The paper feed is at the back too. If you want a more convenient printer with automatic double sided printing maybe an epson 3700 is a good one but bit more expensive

I know you can add printers to your account, but I'm not sure about eligible credit. You can always create another account with a different email address.

If you’ve already signed up to HP instant ink before and you buy an new printer, are you still eligible to receive the free months/credit?

My old workforce went the same way as yours. I don’t know how much printing you do but I went for the HP envy 5050 from curry’s £129 with £50 cashback, which I’ve already had confirmed. You also get £82 worth of credit for their Instant ink membership. If you choose their 50 page per month package the £82 worth of ink lasts 3 and half years, sent straight to your door. The thing I like about HP printers is the print head is in the cartridge, so no more knackered heads. I’ve already been sent my 1st replacement inks, for when I need them. This deal has already been posted on here and voted very cold, personally I think it’s a cracking deal. £79 for a WiFi printer, scanner and 3 and a half years worth of ink at 50 pages per month, which unused, roll over up to 2 months......bargain.

The Google Scan app* works brilliantly and is free. Instructions here including how to add the shortcut to your home screen: Any paperwork we receive immediately gets scanned and automatically uploaded to google drive and the original either shredded/recycled or archived. Business receipts go straight into Receiptbank then over to Xero. We're practically paperless. I too have the ScanSnap S1300i for large documents but it very rarely gets used. (*There are many other Android and IoS alternatives - CamScanner, Microsoft Scane, Adobe scan, etc)

Will it scan multiple sheets onto the same scan? Or is it all indiviually processed?

Can't your phone do a similar job than this

Excellent price, especially if you want to put it in your laptop bag. Doesn't look like it has a document feeder, so if you want to scan multiple documents, then it could be a pain. I use a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i, very convenient but costs a lot more than this one.

Is it any good? It does not have a document feeder?

It says for “small office to large corporate environments” so I have a feeling your home office isn’t the target market anyway!

Look at the size of it, this would look rediculous in the corner where my desk is, but if you have space for it seems like allot of printer for your doh.

They're expensive because they're large. This is a small business model designed to print a couple of dozen pages a day. For the amount of ink you're getting they're fairly cheap, you'll find most other £70 printers are much more expensive for manufacturer ink than the 1p per page of this one. Although it's only cheap if you actually use the ink. If it dries up with 90% capacity left because you're only printing three pages a month then it's not a good deal.

Replacement cartridges seem expensive.

I think so! I looked at a trade manual and there are over 70 screws to remove along with countless ribbon cables - about 24 separate steps altogether. I'll have a go at most things but this is on a different level and well beyond me.

Yes that's a shame. My son looked at me funny when I said I wanted to fix mine. But have plenty of replacement cartridges to use up. Epson make great machines whatever model you have. To fix it I had to take apart but the videos on YouTube show it's only a few screwsand not to difficult but my model is very old. They may have mad e it more difficult now.

Sadly that's not the problem. I stupidly printed on the wrong side of some Avery label sheets (the plastic side). Ink smeared all over the surface and then the print heads started blocking up. I ran the nozzle cleaner twice but that only seemed to make matters worse and now all nozzles are blocked! I suspect the damper pad is saturated and clogged also. I can't use the traditional nozzle-cleaning tricks as it's one of the fixed-cartridge models (Epson Stylus Photo PX720WD) and to get to the print heads you have to dismantle the whole machine, which is fantastically complicated. It's a real shame as until then it was working perfectly and produced fantastic colour photo prints - it was pretty expensive as well. Seem as shame that such a small mistake means chucking a good machine out.

Is it the constant flashing lights as there's a reset for that. Just sorted mine. If it is try googling on YouTube. My Epson is easily 15 -20 years old. Choice stationary do brilliant replacement cheap cartridges wouldn't give up on your old one unless totally broken. 😄
